  1. The one thing I don't get, is how can they (AV06) be so far behind. Surely they would have known about Villa being for sale for quite some time. It seems they are a bit whimsical in their interest.

They came in late because they hadn't enough finance in place and when they did their main protagonist went on holiday just as Lerner chose his time to pounce

Since they ahve always been in a catch up situation and even now it seems can't prove the complete validity of their finance until next week

  2. By the laws of the LSE, we cannot be given details of any bids that even come in for consideration.

Then if a formal bid is made (as Lerner did) then they (AVFC) have to inform the LSE before announcing it publically.

if so haven't AV06 broken LSE rules by making public parts of the Lerner bid and if so when do we expect a PR from Lerner saying so.

  3. All Lerner has to do is announce what his projections are for the transfer kitty and all opposition will be in running mode

    Wonder if he will.

Yes he's from the US some PR will be out soon to sort it, I'm sure

  4. SoccerHQ,

But what if Padfield was waiting to see the other 'hands' before revealing his. Maybe that could have been a reason why he went away - he was in no real rush until someone else bid.

If totally confident about his bid, why wait?

I'd suggest because the bid isn't ready.

AV06 has always been in catch up mode well behind all the others and the leaks, slanders etc are just a way of keeping the pot boiling until their bid is ready.

    No!!!

I don't think he has to wait to see anything I think he has to tread water until the bids prepared and backed. What I found most mystifying in the statement was that if Lerner showed he was making was it 30 million available right away they'd walk. They must be confident Lerner will not, cannot do such, more's the pity :)

  5. I want to see my team fighting it out with the best in Europe, like tomorrow, and would encourage whatever it takes us to achieve that.

If it means waiting for AV06 so be it.

My major concern is the delay in getting serious money to O'Neill now

  6. No one can say whether any new bid is better than Lerner's, in all honesty we don't know the full content of Lerner's bid yet anyway, so for all we know AV06 may have all sorts of advantages.

If it didn't I can't see why they or anyone else who may still bid would bother.

We aren't talking here of Ellis economics or dealings, this is big business talking, be it US or UK, Arab, African, Taiwan or Welsh.

Its not about spoiling tactics its about serious business, very serious, especially when you consider it cost 800 million to buy Utd.

  7. I suggested last week it wouldn't be cut and dried, there was always the possibility of a few stings in the tail and now they are raising there stingers.

Although its hard to see past the Lerner O'Neill ticket, you can't categoricaly say its a no go and similarly you can't categorically say its a done deal, no one yet knows what the bigger bids are or include.

Personally a rich Arab, Russian, or S.African with equal funding to Abramovich would suit nicely.thank you.

My monies still with Randy though, its just so sad it couldn't have been sorted well before now

  8. I agree VB but we heard the same with the Ranson bid and a confidentiallty cluase is a must IF AV06 refused to sign them, they could have not been that serious.

or they could be so confident of their bid and insider information, they don't need to know the due diligence.

it boils down to the desire to buy and the desire to sell

AV06 desire to buy a football club, just like Ranson does, they seem to have both a greater desire and a bigger cash book, and aren't on their own.

Lerner too has a desire, Villa will not be his only target.

Neville wants Villa, has a bid designed to please the major shareholders, has suposed deals with one major shareholder, and was the first man to mute O'Neill as a possible manager.

Only one bid came to see Ellis, walked away saying little and is still there, interesting isn't it.

Again I say show me where Lerner has said he is back in town with a bid, this year let alone this week ???

Hope he does though, look out airplane spotters ......

  9. pardon PB where's the proof, where's the quotes ???

Lerner has enough financial clout to easily arrange finance to cover any bid up to 100 million, or so these don't exist sources reckon, but still remains 3rd in the race as we talk.

sorry no proof again just talk.

However its very, very likely this week is Ellis' last and to celebrate 2 new faces should be joining too

We live in hope, without proof, and with little belief in some.

The fun is about to begin, don't miss your chance to join in

  10. so you are ruling out Lerner then Pete ?

and then we will see then ...

What makes you so sure lerner isnt fronting a consortium?

Dare I say what makes you think he is, where's the proof ?

    I thought not. :)

One thing has been consistent throughout the Lerner workout, he's said little publicly and if you read what he has said most of it is negative about the takeover, but positive its him on his own

  11. Where are they Malc..... promise I won't tell :)

lost in the ether it seems and with smart arse comments like yours will likely remain there.

they remain a major part of the Boards past and present policy and have always been a mystery to me

sure I can accept shares have been lost when people die, but my dad's haven't. yes I can see there are plenty of shareholders who can't be bothered to send in proxies or votes, or who do not inform the club where they have moved to when they change address.

the main problem remains the apathy, perhaps caused by the thoughts they can't make a difference anyway.

should one of the bidders suddenly offer twice the asking value, I'm sure those missing thousands might appear from no where.

its like all those 'wealthy' Villa supporters where are they now, why do they not want in, why is it rumoured Scottish and Irish wealth backs bids but not Midlands based money ???

  12. maybe someone could point me to any thread where its shown Petchey is doing anything than looking to get the best price for his shares he can.

when you consider the wealth of some that have dabbled in Villa affairs in the last 2 or 3 years its allways surprised me no others have built themselves a share holding as large.

its like the lost 10-15% somewhere there is a way of finding them, imagine the power that group plus the smaller shareholder like myself would hold

  13. I'd agree but it was a threat that gained the end result it required.

Be as sceptic as you like, doesn't do any harm, we know what we know, we believe what we believe, we don't, well I don't, need justification, its only Aston Villa after all

  14. its safe to assume, although I'm now sure to be corrected that Lerner came to do business with Ellis as he sees business should be done.

Ellis didn't see it the same way and upset Lerner with his comments, so much he walked out and away not best pleased. Two of us on here can confirm that from sure sources.

Since then there has been huge speculation and some spin suggesting things have been patched up and Lerner is back and remains the choice project.

Add in the recent spin about what was said at the meeting and the reason for the understanding, laughable when you know the truth, but still positive spin, its fair to assume Lerner is more than possible.

However, and its a big pause here, there's a long way to go ladies and gentleman before its on the pitch in the shirt, although Ellis will be all but gone by next weekend, if indications are true and so far they haven't been far out.

Oh and thanks to fortereliable for his comments, its another good indication of how things are going when such are kind enough to break cover and join us more humble folk :)

Keyboard warriors we may be but more and more influential we become the stronger we are, lets hope it continues once Doug has departed.
