  1. Nice to see @newhavenhibbycommenting on Rangers by way of calling us Sevco. The hurt is strong up here. In answer to his comments, Nathan Patterson has huge potential going forward as a RB. A left back? We currently have the first choice Croatian, Borna Barisic, but the spoonburners have Doig- that boy is a talent and he has youth on his side. We are a selling club up here. We won't give them away, but I doubt that we would be difficult to deal with. I'm going to be interested in who, if anyone, AV come in for.  I can only see it being Ryan Kent.  He's SG favourite.

The fans couldn't keep Rangers solvent either. Aren't they already declaring large losses less than 10 years from almost going bust.

Rangers are a huge team historically but the modern game has for the most part left behind Scottish football.

In fairness you could probably say the same for Villa but we are in a league that generates large TV revenues and can attract foreign dollars for investment. Hence why we are far more attractive option for Steven.

I agree wholeheartedly on all of those points.  I'm just surprised that he went to AV and there's no disrespect meant, but I don't see AV getting European football for a while yet. SG isn't getting to Liverpool unless AV win an FA cup or get European football regularly and in particular UCL. Your owners will demand this.

So why have we paid you a huge sum in compensation and your fans are sad to see him go?...why are we meant to be a stepping stone....is this all BS?

You have paid for the brand. The Gerrard brand. Wait till you lose/draw against similar teams and hear his interviews. They are all the same. A lot of us switched off at times. In his first season we had a real opportunity to push on and win the league.  We lost it in a 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock with Joe Worrall selling both goals.  Two seasons ago we were top of the league and crashed spectacularly allowing Celtic to win an incomplete league. We won 55 and I personally think that it was down to no crowds. The pressure playing for either of the old firm is intense. You need to be able to "wear the Jersey,". Not every fan is sad.  He won 55 but it was stopping 10 for them that was the prize for us. 1 trophy out of 9 in domestic competition is and was poor. Getting put out by St Mirren and St Johnstone in the cups was down to the management team. We should have won a treble last season. AV have better players but he's not a magician.

Can you give us some detail regarding his record and successes in Europe? What kind of opposition he faced and the results and performances he managed to produce? How the team performed?

Was it “backs to the wall” a few times or did they manage to dominate teams that would be perceived as superior.

I mean no offence, but man for man that is a weak team imo but managing to defeat better teams/players (on paper) is cause for encouragement… that shows a degree of acumen…

    Very interested to know.

He loves 433. There's really no change in that preference of shape. The team moves as a unit and don't be alarmed when he allows opposition to take receipt of the ball at throw ins. The team is then instructed to regain the ball in packs and start again.

To be fair we had a "back to the walls" game against UFA from Russia.  Down to 9 men but Jon Flanagan was immense that night. We outplayed Legia, Benfica ( bad game management cost us 3 points) Porto we played really well and Braga both home and away we upped it second half.

Leverkusen totally outplayed us. They were smarter, quicker and were fabulous to watch.

Slavia Prague knew exactly how we played.  They bullied us all over the park. We were incapable of change.

Malmo despite going 1-0 in the first half and them down to 10 men, simply out smarted us in the 2nd half. That cost us UCL and £30 million. Teams know how we play in Scotland under SG. With better players he should be able to shape the team but if you watch how we have played over the last 3 years this will be your template.

Rangers?  Maybe 30 years ago but their revenue is barely top 75 in Europe now. They would be a minnow in any of the top league's in Europe.

You have really not grasped the concept of how big a club Rangers are. Look at the results we got in Europe pre pandemic. SG and Mick Beale got a team playing well above their league status with some fantastic results in Europe. It's all relative. The fan base that we have in the UK is only dwarfed by Man Utd and Liverpool imo. Our revenue is relative to our fan base. It's TV money that keeps us down. So you are correct in revenue but take that TV money away from ANY Premier League club and the fans couldn't keep them solvent.

I can't help you hippo, if you can't see, what I see.

Its quite strange, because most of the time, we see things in a similar light.

I can't agree with your view of Scottish football in the context you are explaining it.

as an example.....you throw a dart at the 20 segment on a dart board it's easy for the average darts player.....you tell them their life depends on it and see it shrink, before you eyes.

managing in Scotland is easy, granted.....you  manage Rangers in the shadows of Celtic with serial titles to their name and be told the title or nothing.....you tell me thats easy for a fledgling manager, with a huge career planned ahead,  it would have experienced managers, running for the bed pan.

His performance in Scotland, is surely impressive for me and he knows the challenge he has taken on, but he could have gone to most clubs outside the top 4 .....He chose to come to us and I am thoroughly excited at that....thanks to our prudent owners.

Winning is not an easy thing to do, at any level....it requires an awful lot of criteria to be right.....I think he has demonstrated in his life and awful lot of examples of a winning mentality, that very few have.

The fact, I have watched from the stands, him almost single handly demolish us, on numerous occasions, where despite our awareness, we simply could not negate him.....has me thinking we have the potential for a very special menatlity of person, now in our dug out.

He is in our camp, Spartacus is on our team....we are not facing him anymore....that fills me with confidence and should in theory motivate our team in a willingness to compete and listen to his teachings.

Hi there. Rangers supporter here. Got to disagree with your summary of managing in Scotland and in particular Glasgow. The pressure to win up here as one of the old firm is intense. A draw, particularly at home, is a disaster. Radio, MSM, social media all go into hyperbole. SG wasn't tested greatly up here. What I would say is that there is no plan B. His coaching team are incapable of change during a game. He's a winner and it will be interesting to see how his personality fares not winning.

  7. New poster here. Rangers fan first and foremost. Was wanting to join just to give you Villa fans a bit of insight into not only Stevie G, but Mick Beale, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom and the rest.
