What? Who gave that reason exactly?

It was reported at the time that we were already looking to bring Zaniolo in before Buendia got injured, don't know how I can be any clearer.

ok cool, he wasn't brought in on loan because buendia had just got injured, you couldn't be any clearer

No he wasn't. We were looking at him before Buendia's injury.

He wasn’t what? brought in on loan to cover Buendia, with the reason given at the time “Unai Emery keen to get cover for Emi Buendia, who suffered a serious knee injury in training last week”?

Not sure we'll even look elsewhere.

Buendia, Rogers and Ramsey is more than enough quality and depth for that left hand side of the attack for next season. Since moving to 4-3-3 Diaby has also been playing left side and Bailey also played there for us loads of times.

If Zaniolo is signed then to me there's probably something in Ramsey being sold this summer.

Yeah he was brought in due to Buendia’s absence, temporary support for Ramsey, and Rogers is the permanent version of that, reckon he was probably gone end of this term anyway.

Metal hasn't been popular since the late 80's.

Surely there's something we can do that isn't that?

If it's popularity we're after, hip hop is the most listened to genre on the planet. "Villa Park rap" maybe? We could Dave Chance to sing it, wearing Adidas

  5. good to have ozzy/sabbath because of the connection - Paranoid, played a little earlier (and was bizarrely played after goals scored a few years ago?) sounds alright as an intro, but the lyrics are a weird fit. Crazy Train is a strange choice, kinda embarrassing really. Never Say Die by Black Sabbath would be more fitting and has a "boys are back in town" feel, and the lyrics, at least the title, are go-get-em rawk. I dunno. My favourite Sabbath song is Neon Knights, which is a real rouser, but doesn't feature Ozzy.

It's a mural in a place where a lot of fans walk by. A mural.

It's not gonna be a pixel perfect design on a computer screen. Neither are the Villa team gonna run around in a shirt made out of bricks.

It's nice colours and making the area look more 'Villa'.

Aren't we overthinking it a little?

    god, yes

  7. Dougie won’t be going anywhere for footballing reasons from our point of view, he’s obviously brilliant and can only get better as part of a stronger squad. He may leave for financial reasons to allow compliant further building, or he may want to leave, but he won’t be let go because of his ability, attitude or capacity. Personally I hope he sticks around

Hahaha, was that Buendia being lifted up at the back for the photoshoot?

yeah Diego picked him up like he was a baby 😂

the rest of this was tough going tbf , like the plot-building dialogue sections of 80s art movies

  9. If the ref is dodge, why is it assumed that the next match is to be fixed against Villa? Olympiacos are ahead in the tie and playing at home, which has narrowed the odds. Corrupt officials work for money, not some grand mission, so if there's corruption it gets backed by gambling syndicates that try to dictate the outcome for financial gain, surely? The Olympiacos owner also owns Forest, so if he's paying officials to swing results it hasn't worked very well for them. Lots of talk about them wanting a greek side in the final - who are they, exactly? If we think there's a powers-that-be running the show, why wouldn't that be in our favour, anyway? More kudos for the UECL in a former Champions League/ UCL qualifying team winning this cup than the other outfit

Fair play to the people optimistic about Villa turning this round. Personally think Olympiacos will score early like Lille did and kill this tie off. Hope we can at least make the stadium nervous and make them earn it but I'm watching with low expectations.

we beat Lille, so if Olymiacos score early and sit back thinking they've killed it then bring it on, we've plenty in the tank still to see these f**kers off and some of the finest goal scorers in the premier league to do it plus the world's number 1 goalie to frustrate the hell out of them and build up from the back in a way they just aren't used to, their domestic league is pony

Interestingly all of the new Directors for Aston Villa have been added to be Directors for NSWE Stadium Ltd - the company that brought Villa Park a few years back.

Chester Hall is a great name

    Not for me I'm afraid.

If we get to a position where 4th is wrapped up then go for it. Until then I want our best penalty taker taking pens, and Watkins is unfortunately not at the top of that list.

Even games that seem like they're won, I'd want Luiz on pens. Look at the Brentford game. I don't want to give up anything

    Agree. Priorities.

yeah fair enough, but if his confidence is high, the game/ challenge is won and we can facilitate the guy achieving records it would be another great achievement :)

  14. 10 hours ago, Tomaszk said:

    Incredible, yes.

As soon as Luiz misses one, I think he'll be there now asking for them back.

definitely, any opportunities for pens in the league now should surely go to Ollie if he wants them, depending on the state of the game they're in

  15. whether he gets the recognition he deserves elsewhere is to be seen, all we know is he's about to break records here, so surely approaching legendary status
