Is it possible UE was told something along the lines of - You can spend 50-60 Million in January on transfers or just save that for the summer, which means you will have 150-160 and you might get better overall value with transfers for the squad.

Plus extra time to sell off a couple more players which boosts the spending total even more.

UE might think its a better bargaining tool to tell player A if they sign we will also be bringing player B and C into the squad in the same window which adds more quality to the squad.

He has been working his way back to fitness after missing a couple of months with injury.

Lets hope he is about to hit form for the remainder of the season.

Maybe Olsen has been training to play as a striker for the rest of the season !

If we couldn't convince/get the deals done for our targets in this window, will it actually be any easier to sign them in the summer ?

Its unlikely that we will be able to offer european football as an incentive.

Maybe we were just a tad too ambitious with our targets for where we are at the moment. Which is great if true but we might be another season with a decent league finish for those targets 

Plenty to think about for the transfer team !

He needs a decent run of games before any decision can be made.

He's hardly played this season so far ! 

If we can't sign our intended targets will we see a 6 month loan signing in those positions ?

I'm talking about the whole transfer window so far. Its good that the players that have left so far are gone. The dangerous part is if the deals for the new players aren't already signed off or agreed and they change their mind about coming to villa, we will be left with no depth.

IN - Alex Moreno, Jhon Duran

OUT - Guilbert, Ings, Sanson, Bednarak, Archer.

I didn't say I was unhappy about the players leaving.

Does every transfer that fans expect to happen always happen ?

My post was based on the actual facts of what has currently happened in the transfer window !

We are playing a dangerous game letting all these players leave before the new ones have arrived.

If we had the new deals done then they would be announced already ?

I always thought this was a strange loan signing when it happened.

We need better and no point keeping him after the end of this month.

Has to be Guilbert and Nakamba gone.

If we sign a new left back then terminate the Augustinsson loan.

Terminate the Bednarek loan at the end of the window if Carlos is nearly ready to play again.

With Archer already loaned out  that will leave enough free spots for some players to come in.

3 or 4 new signings who can play at a more consistent level will make a big difference to the squad. 

He is just wasting a spot in our squad. He is far too limited in his ability. Time to go.

He's just not up to Premier League level. Not even as a back up option !

I wonder if there is a temptation to recall him now and partner him with kamara to gain some experience for next season.

Have dougie playing in front of them. 

We finally have a Manager we can get behind with confidence that he is doing his absolute best to get the best results he can for the club !

He just never looks like he's fit enough for the premier league !

This is a GREAT appointment by the club.

I cant wait to see what our team selection will look like now.

I also cant wait to see what the squad will look like in the next 1 to 2 seasons with a manager like Emery with backing from our owners.

Its a risk free transfer for a reliable midfield player we needed in our squad.

He might surprise if given a chance.

6/10 I think we did ok without it being as good as it could have been.

The Carlos injury was just bad luck and it could have changed what our transfer strategy was in the end.

A loss in confidence with Gerrard's ability to continue as our manager may have also changed our transfer strategy.

You can't really blame the owners for any of that !

I hope it happens as I want Villa heading in the right direction and winning games.

Gerrard just doesn't seem like the right fit for our Club at the moment

Hopefully Leon keeps his head and concentrates on his football with all this talk around.

We need his attacking threat to score and create goals.

The club can sack Gerrard via a statement without Purslow saying anything. Without a dramatic turn around it will have to happen.

All Purslow has to do is stay out of the media for a while when it happens and Gerrard gets a pay out.  Its football ! It happens ! Move on !
