  1. Assuming all players are fit, do we think that Watkins is all we need up front at this stage or (if money was available) do we need to add another goal scorer to either play alongside him or challenge him for a starting spot to say, push towards Europe?

I know that we are all very happy with his performance so far, but is he good enough to be the leading man in a top six side?

If we need another option, would this be a poacher or a CF? Can Wesley fill that void when back healthy.

Where else do we have positional weaknesses that need to be addressed over the coming two transfer windows?

I think people are to hasty to bring in another striker or winger. We have good options in both positions and just bought £130million worth of players.

I think we are good for the next 4 months, let's see where we are in the table and strengthen in the winter if we are short. If we are doing well, we can bring in a much better calibre of player than we can now.

What happens if Wesley goes down with an injury in week 1? We are stuffed.

I think we now need to prioritise getting in a left back during January. If we are able to get anymore players in on loan or cheap I would go for a defensive midfielder and another centre back in that order... both would need to be good on the ball as I'm sure most players will be with Smith in charge. We can then send back Moreira as he offers nothing and won't play due to loan spaces, and offload Jedinak if we can.

January In - Kalinic, Hause & LB (DM & CB if possible)

January Out - Moreira & Jedinak

In the summer we can release the players out of contract, regardless of which league we are in none are now first team players and none fit into the style of football we are now playing. Steer hasn't made it so far and with Kalinic & Nyland ahead of him it is unlikely he ever will, it's time to start using our academy for our 3rd choice goalkeeper.

We then have a big summer rebuild, again regardless of which league we are in.

Summer Out - Hutton, Jedi, Whelan, Bunn, Steer, Elphick, De Laet, and Richards

Jedinak won't be going anywhere in January. He has all but committed to joining the expansion A League side next year as captain, so I think he just walks away at the end of his current deal.

  4. To the mods - Is it possible to capture all of the actual rumours and have them transferred to a standalone thread which then has no discussion, but only rumours from here. Perhaps use the #villarumour tag? Would make it way easier for the casual viewer or those in other time zones to catch up on the facts and not have to work through 20 - 30 pages of discussion :).

All discussion carries on here as per usual.

He has to be  a good solid top 5 worst signings ever for Villa, mostly for the fact that we gave him a  4 year large contract when he was already injury prone and past it when we signed him.

I will admit at the time I thought he would be a decent signing- which shows that I know very little about football.

I can't see him playing for another club after us- why bother when you have made millions by not even playing for 2 years?

    He was captain.
