  1. I know he’s 33 now but I wouldn’t mind going for Edin Dzeko for our first season back in the PL. Not sure what his wage and contract situation is but he would bring experience to the squad and he can still bang them in. I know it’s not a long term signing but the first season back is about getting established. Once we do that then we can attract better quality. Top players will have reservations about joining a newly promoted team, even if we are Aston Villa.

  2. I think the most frustrating thing for me over the past 5/6 years is whenever we are attacking teams the opponents always look like they have extra men on the field. Same also goes for when the opponents attack our final third.. ... There is never space when we go forward but the second they attack us it's like the part of the field we are defending doubles in size. I don't know if we are far to slow going forward and getting back , simply void of ideas and creativity or the opposition managers just do a better job of getting the tactics right. Either way I hope this is something Smith can change.

  3. But we need us to suffer for Bruce to suffer. Hate seeing us lose but sometimes you need a blessing in disguise. I just want him gone and if we have to sacrifice a few points for that to happen then I can live with that.

Did you honestly expect him to be knee jerked out of the door?

I'd really worry about our owners if that was the outcome!

Knee Jerked !!! He's been consistently crap since day 1. How much longer should this guy get ?

  5. To be left in this position ( transfer market closed, loan market closed and out of contract players our only option ) is unforgivable. I wouldn't start a season in championship  manager with only one recognised centre back. WTF is Bruce thinking. Should be sacked on those grounds alone. Pinning our hopes on a 38 year old to bail us out !! Its laughable

  6. Bruce will get the chop there is no doubt about that. My only concern is they'll leave it to late with to many points to make up. Come the end of the season we will all be saying "if only they brought the new manager in sooner". Needs doing now or it's championship football again next season. I'm not saying a new manager would get us promoted (I know that's not a given) but I am saying Steve Bruce won't.

    Don't talk such nonsense!

How many promotions has Benitez got? Bruce has 4 and he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!

Bret Hart would probably do a better job than Bruce

  8. Bruce out !!! He's never gonna change  so we need to change him. Anybody who thinks he can get us up is living in a dream. I'm not fooled by all this "we are still unbeaten". He's just lucky we've played average teams who couldn't take advantage of how crap we've been.

    GREALISH 'GOING NOWHERE'

Big news coming out of Villa Park.

Sky sources: Jack Grealish will not be sold to anyone in this transfer window, despite interest from Tottenham and 'other clubs' this window.

Sources are telling us Aston Villa's new executive chairman Nassef Sawiris has told Tottenham and any other potential suitors he is not interested in their money.

I don't get this notion you have to be playing top flight football to get into the national team. Southgate has proved you don't need a squad made up of Sky 4 "names" to be successful, Loftus-Cheek isn't even a squad player at Chelsea ffs.

Let's say, for arguments sake, Villa (or any Championship side) decide to go balls-to-the-wall and offer £200m for Harry Kane, is he automatically deemed not good enough to play for, and Captain his country? Bollocks is he.

This idea people need to play Champions league and top flight football is a bullshit myth created by agents and the media to justify a move or appease a fan base.

Excellent post. I agree with you 100%

I truly feel for you young lads. The 1994 and 1996 League Cup finals we’re both wonderful. There are some advantages to being an old (ish) git!

Remember those games like they were yesterday. Dalians goal in 94 felt like it took 2 weeks to cross the line. Even when I watch it now I'm on the edge of my seat willing the ball into the net.

He couldn't wait to leave us and I don't think he would be in a hurry to drop a division to return. Nice thought though.

I'm not so sure. It's like leaving your first love for a new bit of skirt. Once the excitement wares off you long to be back where your best memories were made.

  13. I'm sure Benteke would give his right bollock to come back to us. Let's face it since he left he's been on a downward spiral. He's a player that needs to be loved and oh boy do we love him. 2 weeks ago I would have said it's a dream but we are now the 3rd richest club in England (apparently) I'm sure we could make it happen. Do what needs to be done, pull all the strings that need to be pulled and bring that boy home.

  14. Go get Jürgen Klinsmann. Don't know why but every time talk of a new manager comes around he's always top of my wish list. Failing that (and if we've got a shed load of cash) let's puff out our chest like some greased up cougar from the planet big bollocks, make a statement of intention and go get Wenger. Wishful thinking I know but it's nice to dream again !! What a difference 24hrs can make. People were talking about Mick McCarthy this time last week.

  15. I've completely lost all confidence in Xia. I think for the sake of our club the sooner he's gone the better. I remember Randy saying something along the lines like "there were plenty parties interested in buying the club and he sold us to the person he belived was the best for Aston Villa"

The other interested parties must have been shifty as hell.... Either that or Tony is one of the best blaggers out there.

  16. Could this have had some kind contribution as to why the under armour shirt deal was cut short ?  I always thought that was a bit odd and out the blue !!! Especially after it was announced who was taking over.

Something really wrong is going on behind the scenes and it stinks. I fear a very bleak future for Aston Villa FC
