You are talking absolute bollocks. The fans HAVE got behind the club, we stood there for 10 minute chanting Lambert's name while we were 4-0 down at home to the Spuds. But we've had a week from hell and the club deserves everything it's got. We have lost to Bradford, Millwall and an easily beatable Newcastle in the space of a week because of tactics. Pure and simple. We pay the money so we can say whatever the hell we want.

Goals win games not pace and if lambert gets the formation correct Bent will score goals, when he plays the wrong formation bent has no effect, we all no what type of player he is, so play to his strengths.  I also think he may need a run of games to build him back up! Still scratching my head as to y lambo doesn't play 442 we beat Ipswich and drew with Swansea at 442 then he changed it again and we aweful. Go back to 442 and batter em second half so what's the betting he goes 5-3-2 again v Everton and give it the old "we go again" bollox. It's getting boring now!

Still depressed after singing my heart out in the holte last night! The blame lies with Lambert for me here, both ties he failed to see where there weak point is which is wide and he stuck with playing threw the middle. Not once did he go 4-4-2! We needed goals and playing the way we did last night wasnt gonna get us that yet he still didnt change anything! 20th goal conceded from set piece now why isnt he working on this? Any other club would have sacked him weeks ago but i dont see who is out there that will SAVE us so wonder whether sacking him is the right thing to do.

We are also so weak in CM the fact we havnt strenghthend suggests to me Lerner has had enough and is likely to sell!

Was sat in WBA stand as went with a physio of theirs today. Can only say its typical villa. Passed it great first half scored good goals and then lumped it second half. Defence is the big isuue for me and playing 5 has never worked. Spent most of 2nd half seeing Lihaj getting raped by Thomas. For all of u wondering about subs i was stood next to lambo having an interview after game as waiting for my mate and delph was injured but couldnt quite hear the reason on Nzog sub! He also mentions how we just keep gettin injuries all the f#cking time!

Go 4-4-2 now vlaar back. also got to wonder if gabby will look that dangerous again as he only seems to score in derby games!! Nzog looked good in the hole so maybe thats why he doesnt go 4-4-2 but they hit us with everything wide! Roll on tuesday maybe another roller coster ride! All in a good point as it gets us out drop zone but still cant hold on for a win and conceding late on is a big problem for us!!

At last the bad run stopped to a degree, a good point I didnt think we would get. Woeful first 20mins which needs to be adressed. Were possibly the worst team for conceding early and late on. We simply have to beat saints at home. Hopefully a few players back from injury soon. That would be a massive boost.

Great post and the last paragraph in particular is what should have happened before the season started. It didn't and we are paying for it now. I just hope we can still attract enough quality to our club to get us out of the mess that Lambert is continuing to create?

I too like what your saying here. Bent has been unlucky and my fear if he left is we will never get a player of his calibre/price tag ever again. Key for Lambert like you said is if he learns from this. If he doesnt we are doomed.

This was a particularly hard defeat to take, not because we lost, we lose a lot but because our pride just sapped away as the game went on, it was a truly terrible performance, as bad as any i've seen from a top flight team in a very, very long time. We were unable to get close to them, even get the ball and on the rare occasions that we did we were unable to keep possession for more than a few seconds, it's hard to accept sometimes that they do this for a living.

I genuinely thought that the defeat against Chelsea would have a devastating effect on the team because losing so badly starts to instil a psychological issue, people begin to question stuff, Lambert starts to question stuff, then there's all sorts of confusion, pulling in different directions. 8-0 score lines just can't happen but today we saw a team obliterated in confidence as a result and just simply moving around the pitch not knowing why they were there or what they were meant to do. It was an incredibly soul destroying performance.

Without being a doom-monger it's hard to see at the moment how the team will recover from these two defeats, we desperately need leaders, strong characters in the dressing room and I don't know if we have them. I, like loads of people are happy at what Lambert is trying to forge here but it concerns me greatly that he believes he can do something, in such a tough league with such little experience and fragility.

There are no positives whatsoever to take from the last two games, they will learn nothing from this, yet we're all carrying this humiliation that's been served up in front of the viewing world. An extraordinary Christmas and a re-think on the current strategy is very much needed in the coming weeks before any more serious damage is inflicted on the club and its fans.

I totally agree here. As it stands I honestly dont no if we will beat Wigan on sat. Lambert i was on the fence with and at times I see what he is trying to do. But he continually changes the midfield and line up by 1 player or more and i dont think that the team even gets chance to settle. If these 2 games dont open his eyes n make him think then its worrying becuase if this our 'purple patch' then its come perfectly for wigan and southampton and im worried. Go back to 4-4-2 and start again

Didnt see that coming after the way we had been playing, embarressing it is but for me what is more worrying is why lambert didnt try and change the shape to prevent us getting embarressed and having the worst goal difference in the league. Win is a must v spurs or we could be bottom 3 by crimbo and you no what they say happens if your in bottom 3 at crimbo.

A point was fair today and the young lads handled stoke well on crosses etc. However we have to start scoring and start winning our home games. We lack creativity and sometimes Benteke is totally isolated. If Lambo carries on playing 3 behind Benteke then they have to start doing more. We pose little threat going forward vs both Reading and Stoke at HOME. But they may be down to stoke sitting 8 men on their own box, shocking tactics. Major creativity needed or Lambo needs to get gabby further forward as 1 goal in 34 prem games to me does not justify him a starting place. Bent may not work like some others but he may get that goal that wins us some games against average opposition. Plus he has barely played so dont no how fans can kncok him just yet.

Whatever anyone says about the dodgy linesman decison for a pen etc, its amazes me, are people missing the fact that our defence is one decent cb mixed in with youth and that for me lies our biggest problem, teams like city, UTD etc can play shit and still beat us. They are mostly lmaberts signings which worries me for future signings. If we do not pick up points vs the lesser teams then we are doomed. We played quality vs UTD and still lost, mersons words, where do u go from that! Forget arsenal game the 3 after that are vital games in which we have to get points from! For me relegation is defo a possibility. Ppl say Norwich are worse than us, they just beat arsenal and UTD and didnt concede!! Our squad sucks!

I agree it prob would have been an easier game but now its like playing a top 4 side based on the Lambert - Norwich thing.

First half I thought we were totally on top, played well and created chances which has been something we havnt done for a while. We were totally in control. Then the Difference, Coyle spotted what tactically he could do to change the game and get Bolton the win, Eck just cant do this hence why he is a poor manager and should never be at our club. He still thinks Bannan is a RM and then brings the fonz on and Im thinking good, 3 upfront, but no he then goes RM and Bannan pushes inside. He has to go countless times we play so well first half and then he must say some crap at half time that totally changes the team. Bolton took their only chances having said that they were creeping back into the game, all the fans could see it so why couldnt the manager. I felty weird coming away from Villa Park yesterday, we lost, we lost a local derby - I should have been gutted, annoyed etc...

But, whether you call it dillusional, claret and blue specced or what-ever. I felt quite happy.

1. For the first time since the Cup Semi , I enjoyed watching the Villa. I've said many times over the past year, I just dont get the same buzz I used to get. Well yesterday, I did. Until the fight went out of us after about 75 mins, I was actually enoying what I saw. I thought it was exciting.

2. I dont give a toss what anyone says, the sending off totally changed the match completely. Up until that point I actually said to the guy behind me "this is the best I've seen us look in years". I could see that, given his own personnel, the way McLeish will like to play, and I liked it.

3. From above, McLeish's team. I can see what he is doing. At the start, he flitting Bannan in to the odd game, then , when he was used to it, he is now first choice. The same is happening with Herd - I predict, the next one will be Clark.

4. There were huge negatives aswell - the defending is bloody woeful. But the defence bar Hutton (which I will come to in a minute) is the same defence that shipped 7 at Chelsea, 6 at Newcastle etc... This defence is crap - simple, McLeish knows it, and I expect him to reshape it.

Hutton - he looks awful, but is it him. I watched time and time again yesterday, Albion try and attack Warnock, answer, the couldn't, coz when they did, they had Gabby tracking back, doubling up, there was ALWAYS Gabby between Warnock and the opposing player.

The other side, Hutton was 2-1 and sometimes 3-1 on vitually every occasion whilst NZogbia was holding his waste on the half way line. THAT was the problem with Hutton. So, although awful I reserve judgement until he gets a player in front of him that will give him support.

5. NZogbia , I was wrong, I said at the time, hed prove better than Downing. How wrong I was, he is CRAP !!!! - and I cant see him getting any better. This isnt about settling, this is the same as ireland, the guy is a waster !.

Anyway - we lost, but I can see very promising signs. I hope McLeish does the following. Get us safe 9which we will be, there is not a hell of us going down. Wigan, Blackburn. Norwich, Swansea (no matter how they play now, same as Hull and Blackpool) will all be below us no matter how crap we are. So get us safe, then just rip the team up, bring in Bannan, Clark, Herd, Lichaj, Albrighton, Fonz , delph - keep in Bent, Gabby, Given, Hutton etc... ship out Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Heskey, Petrov and co.

Give them 8-10 games (whenever we get safe) and although we will lose more than we win, we will see which kids will make it, which aren't, then go and reshape next July for the future.

I saw hope in defeat yesterday - so weirdly, I'm quite happy.

This was my first home game as I refused at first to go while that ginger tw@t is in charge. However it being a derby i thought the atmosphere would be good so was looking forward to it. How the hell can you go 4-5-1 at home to WBA, Gabby out of position. It a joke regardless of the linesman screwing us it doesnt take away the fact that Mcliesh is tactically shocking. I think gabby would have caused Olsson major problems so why cant Mcliesh see that. We have looked less and less attack minded as the weeks go on under that ginger tw@t and I think things are likely to improve.

PS what has poor marc albrighton done wrong to not get a game infront of NZOMNIA!!!!!

I totally agree, cant remember the last time he hit a decent free kick at goal or put in a cross that wasnt 10ft above every1, he needs to get his head out of his arse and back down to earth and realise he just isnt all that!! Poor that we couldnt beat the team with the worst home record this season but after going to 10 men a point it better than 0. I still feel that mr big time ashley young needs to be put back outwide as where he is playing he must be scoring and he simply isnt so therefore we need to go back to 442 and put him where he is best wide and running at fullbacks. Frustrating as thats 2 winnable games we have yet again drawn! And to make it worse the blushite could be well clear of us soon! They seem to win their home games more than us! Killer!

Is it just me or has every1 failed to realise that gabby has been shoved out left because superstar ashley young insists on playing off the forward through the middle and he is getting absolutely no goals, its time to go back to 442 and have young on left or right and play a proper centre forward up there which would also bring bent on! Makoun and NRC in middle as petrov goes missing far to often to late into games!

As for the defence well in most games u have seen this weekend most teams cant defend, we proved we can vs man city, for me we lack goals big time and our leading scorer is downing i think with 6, thats wank! Get the tactics right hou and we should start winning games and climb that table coz once again were too close to bottom 3!
