bunn 6 at fault with the goal
hutton 6 also at fault - doesnt get the ball in the airchester 8 good
baker 9 almost faultless
amavi 2 shocking - 25million???
jedinak 2 shocking
westwood 7 good - and i am not a fan of his!
bacuna 5 hardly in it
ayew 3 awful
grealish 7 good - was missed
kodjia 4 includes 2 for his pen otherwise awful
mcormack 6 not bad
adoma 7 dangerous
gestede 5 little use
we could have won , which is astonishing with 4 players i rate under 5 .

Start with the team that started the second half on Saturday so Grealish in for Gardner.
McCormack again needs to start off the back of a goal as hopefully it will give him the confidence and he will go on a run. Ayew can again be an option off the bench for the last 20 minutes.
For 60 odd minutes against these at their place we more than held our own and had the better openings it was only a mistake that turned the game. I predict a win either 2-0 or 2-1.
no predictions but agreed otherwise.
ayew usually doesnt turn up til the second half , so it makes sense to bench him first half .

great video thanks.

Badly need a central midfielder who can pass, run, tackle and score the odd goal. It can't be that difficult to find one.
agreed -- could you give us a list please?

watching the highlights again , i think hutton was at fault for the goal and at other times .
i like hutton but he is the weaker defender.
aywe actually ran forward into space for the second goal and put in a good cross , mccormack took an age to control and shoot.
i hope bacuna gets a run in midfield , he is looking much better now.
but SB has to find a way to capitalise on kodjia.

Also, not the usual fan in this respect, but I tend to feel happy after a game when I'm walking from the ground thinking "if we play like that every week we'll give any team a real good game". Even if we've lost, if we've played well and simply weren't good enough, or unlucky, or whatever it was. I just want to see consistent performances that match the ability of the playing squad.
At the moment, and for about a month, I'm thinking "if we play like that every week then we're a good team away from a battering".
It's not all doom and gloom, we've got good players and a good manager. But there's work to be done before turning this team into a cohesive unit.
we havnt been a cohesive unit since MON left us .
i am impressed with bruce so far , preferring baker to elphick , dropping underperformers , trying different selections , it cant be easy with this ramshackle squad .

Can't add much to all the above.
Villa reviewers - 10/10
I don't know whether I like that we win ugly, or concerned that we cannot hand out a spanking that this group of players, on paper, is due to hand out.
Bacuna was excellent today, I like his attitude and effort considering the breakdown in relations he had with the fans last year.
Kodjia is obviously our go to for goals, but was really not at the races today. McCormack wasn't at it either.
Chester and Baker very impressive.
Biggest positive of the day for me was seeing Villa Park filled up. I had almost forgotten what an brilliant ground Villa Park is when it is brimmed full, and in full voice.
good to see bacuna getting somewhere .
we should perhaps remember he hasnt had much of a run as a midfielder at all , it takes time to settle into that role .
and we have a great partnership in chester and baker - as bruce was a CB himself i think , he should know .

On the way back. Amavi was awful today worse than Hutton who was not much better. Surprised with Burton thought they used the width of the pitch miles better than us. Baker was my pick for man of the match. Sounds negative i am happy with the 3 points but we will get battered by Leeds and Spurs if we play like that.
pleased to hear baker was good again , and bunn by the sound of it .
if we can keep goals against down - we may just scrape through .

i didnt see it , very good to win , sounds as if it could have gone either way .
we are playing like a mid table team - in the championship.
we have to improve , or get some better players , to have any chance of going up.

Agreed - I have it in my mind that this will feel like a Cup Final for Burton, who I can remember watching play Nuneaton Town/Borough many years ago. We always used to 'do' Burton... Now look at them...
Come on Villa - taking my daughter for this one... And I've swapped the Holte for the Trinity Upper for the 2016/17 'temerity and novelty' factor.
yes , i remember a saying "gone for a burton" - dont know its meaning..

A win this round could be very good for us. Of the teams immediately above us, Barnsley have an easy game v Blackburn, but otherwise PNE have Leeds, Norwich away at Reading, Fulham at Ipswich and Bluenoses at Derby. Could see us up to 8th/9th.
our present table position doesnt really matter -- the season end does.

6-0 Villa
bit over the top ?
burton are no pushover at all , their results belie their capability.
we are nothing special at present , relying on kodjia mainly for individual efforts .
i dreamt last night we had lost 4-1 !!!

It won't be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination, they will be up for it from the first whistle. They've got a good manager in Nigel Clough, he's tactically astute, he inherited it from his Dad. It'll be a tough game, they've got some good players at Championship level
Prediction- Kodjia to get both in a 2-1 win
Team- Bunn
Hutton Baker Chester Amavi
Gardner Jedinak Bacuna
Adomah Kodjia Grealish
Bench: Gollini, Elphick, Ayew, Agbonlahor, McCormack, Gestede, Westwood
Very strong side and bench
i think your team prediction will play out ok .
but predictions are tricky - especially the future.

we certainly need more than we have now.
the way we are playing means we are about mid table .
we will stay there unless we improve considerably.

Positives:
3 points
Defence looked solid and have been on the whole for most of the season
Since Bruce came in we haven't looked as nervous towards the end of games or conceded late goals
Negatives:
Standard of football is atrocious, can't play more than 4 passes before playing a long ball up the field.
Still no identity about our team, players look like strangers more often than not and signing more in Jan isn't going to help this.
Gabby is terrible and McCormack just isn't working for us, we are screwed during the ACON.
In summary:
Bruce is doing a good job with what he has to work with and you would hope our overall play can only improve with the confidence of winning games and more game time for the players. Not a chance we are going up this season and rightly so, we need to build something first otherwise it will be a beating every week back in the prem and we are right back to square one again.
mostly agree , we dont do much football , kodjia , adohma and aywe are just individuals .
i am hoping agbon will get fitter and do a useful job in january , mcormack doesnt look up for it , baker and chester immense.

Second half we played better, more urgency. Baker comes back in to the side, another clean sheet. Him and Chester are solid.
with you on baker , many years ago i posted somewhere he was our best CB , to much derision .
when listening to /watching the games , ive lost count of the times they say " cleared away by baker"
weve had our best results when he's played , and bruce is clearly very impressed with him , to leave elphick out , so full marks to bruce also.
he could still play for england , jagielka and cahill are not that good .

there is relief when we dont lose .
but what many people dont realise is we need to WIN !!!!
we need THREE points !!!!!!!!!! , one point is hardly better than losing .
