Couple of million quid, can cover CB and LB. He's a deffo for me.

Hit the nail on the head here. Absolute no brainer of a singing.

Was worried when I seen him coming on for Mings at Wembley as it was a pressure cooker but he was immense for that 10 mins. Won everything in the air.

  2. Think it'll be Ojo. Has to be loan to buy so I don't think Liverpool would need to put any playing clauses into the deal if we're going to sign him in January anyway?

Targett was a regular for Fulham so must be half decent but can't say I noticed him much in the play-off final. He's a left back though and we are in desperate need so would be a great signing

  3. Cant see the new goalkeeper being thrown in without any preseason games under his belt. I think the 3-5-2 will be shelved until we sign another defender and it'll be:

                            Steer

De Laet - Elphick - Chester - Hutton

                            Whelan

    Adomah - Hourihane - Grealish - Green

                            Kodija

  4. If the £40m figure is correct, I make it:

-£500k Johnstone loan return (£10k per week)

    -£3.5m Golini sale and wages

-£500k Hutton Wage drop (£10k per week)

-£500k Samba released (£10k per week)

-£2.5m Terry released (£50k per week)

-£1m Snodgrass loan return (£20k per week)

    -£2m Gil sale and wages

-£500k Grabbon loan return (£10k per week)

-£2.5m Gabby released (£50k per week)

    -£3.5m Amada sell on clause

    -£3m Shirt/Training shirt sponsorship

All guestimates obviously but that's about £20m off the bill there leaving £20m

Add in potential money from Stadium sponsor, shirt sleeve sponsor, Veretout sell on clause (linked with £15-20m move), Jedi linked with a move away and a couple of other deals and surely we'd be getting close to the £40m mark?

  5. Anyone take Roy Keane? Steamrolled the league with Sunderland, would probably bring through the youth and would be able to keep a good dressing room.

Or even the return of MON with Keane as assistant?

  6. Think you're being harsh on Hogan here. Yeah he hasn't scored lots but that's more down to the style/formation he's been played in.

When he got 3 in 3 earlier in the year, we were playing some lovely attacking, possession based football. Something he needs.

He's not the big lone target man that Bruce employs up top

That and he never stops running when he's on the pitch. Chases everything

  7. I think if Bruce stays on then Terry will stay on. Can imagine the club will get imaginative with his wages (Appearance fee, big bonus for promotion etc).

Steer/Elmo/Bree/Chester/Terry/Elphick/Whelan/Birkir/Adomah/Hourihane/Grealish/Lansbury/Green/Kodija/Hogan. Add in the youngsters RHM/Clark/Doyle-Hayes/O'Hare/Lyden/Davis

Thats still the guts of a promotion chasing team. Just need to convince Chester and Grealish to stay on and be shrewd in the transfer market. Need a LB as Taylor isn't cutting it for me.

I think keeping Bruce would add stability but will he be the man to develop the youngsters? Maybe if he brings Delaney into the technical area to help.

Surely can make a bit of money back through letting a few players go Hutton, Jedi, Gabby, Golini, Gil, Bunn, Samba, Taylor, McCormack, Tshbola, De Laet, Gardner.

You are in many ways right, but we still need 2x GK 1x CB 1x DM 1x CM

We dont need to be using Hutton, Richards, Elphick, Bacuna, Gardner or Gaby-2-games-a-season.

Better coaching, management & tactics needed though

Totally agree. It was not by accident that I left those names out. Hopefully the sales/releases of these will give us the desired funds to get your needs.

  10. I feel that with a full pre-season of teamwork we could/should be challenging for the top 2 next year.

           GK

    JB JC NB NT

           MJ

      HL     CH

        RMC

    SH       JK

That team is more than capable of getting promoted and with players like Grealish, Green, Adomah, De Laet,Thor and even RHM to rotate in we should be up there.

Potentially one more out of the hunt?

    My thoughts exactly!

Hopefully they can trip up the teams above us too and help us out a bit

You never know but i'd imagine we'd have to win out to get in to Play-offs... but i wouldn't bet against it happening.... Never thought i'd ever say that about the Villa again.

Their recent problem is that they draw too much.  Sound familiar?  They've only lost 3 of their last 15 games, yet in this inconsistent league that has only moved them from 12th to 8th, and has cost them a manager in the process.

They score a lot of goals.  They're 3rd overall and they're top scorers at home.  Only 9th away though.

Fixtures involving Norwich contain the most goals of any team in the division (121) and that trend is even moreso away from Carrow Road, so maybe back over 2.5 (their away games AVERAGE 3.26 goals).

They've only failed to score 6 times this season which is the best in the league.  They're also best away from home where they've only failed 4 times.

Where they're not so good is at keeping clean sheets.  9 all season and 2 away from home (compared to Brighton's 19).  They've also lost over half of their away games.  10 from 19, and the most recent 3 mentioned above were all away from home including Rotherham of all places.

So we can say they blow hot and cold but they give the opposition chances.  Our recent defensive upturn should stand us in good stead and if we can take some of the chances that come our way then I think we can continue on our winning run.

    3-1 Villa.
