  1. So week or so ago a video gets posted in this thread of Zelensky essentially calling for WW3 by asking NATO to bomb Russia and not a single person in here condemned it. It instead led to a conversation about how we can’t trust the subtitles or anything on the net. This despite the fact that a quick google search would reveal that he did indeed say it and his aids were forced to damage control. Sums up the state of this thread really

  2. It’s Messi obviously. The Maradona debate at this point is actually laughable. Messi’s trophy haul  is far superior, his longevity is far superior his stats are far superior. He has the dribbling of Maradona whilst being one the best passers, playmakers and goal scorers ever. Nostalgia or stupidity are only reasons anyone would argue Maradona is greater. And then of course you have the wind up merchants who just like to be a contrarian as can be seen in this thread

Was watching BBC news and they said something along the lines of we won’t see any actual counter offensive from Ukraine to take back land until next year.

So I guess the million man army summer counter offensive was just all talk. Unfortunately for Ukraine mythical counter offensives and twitter trolling doesn’t win wars

You think so? Fury has fought Wilder 3 times. I don't think Fury would avoid anyone.

AJ has dodged both the top heavyweights of the era.

Wilder is a hypejob. Who has he beat? If Fury doesn’t fight Usyk now  it will be a stain on his legacy

  5. Theo Van Gough murder, Danish cartoon riots, Charlie Hebdo shootings, Copenhagen shootings, Samuel Paty murder,  Salman Rushdie stabbing. Another attack on freedom of speech by a follower that peaceful religion that must not be named

Secondly, there have already been rumblings of red states not looking kindly on women travelling out of state for abortions, and criminalising this act of travelling to a place where it's legal.

Out of state abortions are legal and will remain so. Look up interstate travel under the 14th amendment. There’s no chance  of abortions being banned nationwide either.

If a woman wants an abortion in America she can have one. It just may now involve higher travel costs for some.

This is exactly it. You can negotiate giving him X territory to stay away, but he'll be back again because he's then got tried and tested strategy.  Before you know it the previously loyal segment of Ukraine adjacent to the new border will suddenly have rebel "Ukrainians" declaring they want independence from the Nazi regime and Russia will be rushing in to Liberate this new territory. Rinse and repeat, Rinse and repeat.

That's what people arguing for settlement just don't get. You can't settle with Russia, it just encourages them and proves it works for them.

It may be well intended but it’s this kind of attitude which is leading to the annihilation of the Ukrainian army and destruction of Ukraine.

What is your alternative to negotiation? World war 3? Fight to the last Ukrainian?

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Ukraine can’t stop Russia taking territory and can’t take back lost territory. And it’s also becoming obvious that the west doesn’t have the capability to give Ukraine the enormous amount of weapons and training needed to do so.

Ukraine are going to have to concede territory to Russia. There’s just no way around it. They can start negotiating now or later when they’ve lost even more land and men.

  8. All this ruling does is allow states to make their own abortion laws. So if you really want to kill your fetus just travel to one of the around 50% of states which allow it. There’s really no need to be so hysterical about it

The opposite side to that is that some people told us Sievierodonetsk was about to fall four weeks ago

And they were right, unlike the people who claimed Russia were pushed out of Severodonetsk because they believe every bit of propaganda which the Ukraine government puts out. The city had pretty much fallen weeks ago and remaining UA troops were hiding in an industrial zone. It's time to acknowledge that the great Ukrainian counter attack with a new army armed with NATO wonder weapons isn't happening. It's a fantasy. Let's hope Ukraine start negotiating whilst they still can.

  10. So now some of you guys care so much about freedom despite also wanting American citizens to have their guns taken away. I guess you only care about freedom when it suits your own politics. I’m not anti abortion btw

This'd be the American version of George Galloway's Russia-love-fest website. 100% funded and operated by people with connections to the Kremlin. Stick a "Russia State Propaganda" on that one.

The figures I've heard are around 100-150 a day, with around 3 times that wounded. Ukraine are also reporting a very high return to service rate on their wounded soldiers

I guess Arakhamia must be pro Russia and the Kiev Independent is now Russian state propaganda. Sorry for bringing up these numbers. You can go back to talking about the genius strategy of getting pounded by Russian artillery now

  12. 1 hour ago, magnkarl said:

Some NATO nations have developed plans to counter Russian reliance on artillery, the Ukrainians are possibly adopting these strategies. They essentially mean that you let Russia pound away at very strong defensive positions with more and more artillery, then you map out their artillery and strike them all at once with your longer range artillery and missile systems. Ukraine may be waiting for enough long range supplies in order to essentially destroy most of Russia's artillery in one foul swoop. It's a tried and tested Finnish strategy.

Of course, Ukraine are using  the tried and tested strategy of getting pounded by artillery which has resulted in them losing around 1000 troops a day (Ukraine's figures, not mine). Genius

  13. The only way Russia doesn’t win is direct NATO intervention which would cause nuclear war in which case we all lose. The way it’s going Russia will continue to gain territory and Ukraine will be destroyed. Ukraine need to negotiate soon as the longer they wait the worse it will get for them.

Arakhamia the Ukrainian  main negotiator acknowledges how weak their position is  and hoping they can regain some territory before starting negotiations. So it looks like they will continue to send troops into the meat grinder and lose over 1000 men every day in a desperate attempt to improve their position for negotiations.

All this talk about Russia being completely driven out of Ukraine is just fantasy at this point. It may help the weapon manufacturers but it’s only harming Ukraine. Unfortunately most are too brainwashed and whipped into a frenzy to understand this.

Yet many of these 18 year olds have committed horrendous war crimes in the name of the idiot that sent them there. The Russian psyche is violent, ugly and a cesspool of brutality.

Not that anyone should be surprised when one reads what Soviet armies were up to in Eastern Europe at the end of ww2.

Your hatred of Russians is quite disturbing. I'm sure you'll be in this thread calling for a nuclear war when Ukraine is inevitably defeated

He isn't spreading any misinformation. The front line in Severodonetsk has ebbed and flowed over the last couple of weeks. There was a point where Russia claimed to have control over the entire city but Ukraine took half of it back due to some subterfuge which has yet to be revealed. The front line on the western Front hasn't moved in weeks. If you search back three weeks in this topic you will see people saying much the same as you, yet here we are, with the front line in almost the same place as it was then. The only places where the front line has moved are around Kherson and Kharkiv and that is due to Ukraine  gains, yesterday you were talking about Russia taking Odessa, except on that Southern front they have been in retreat for weeks. The Ukraine forces are now less than 10km from Kherson city centre.

You just don't appear to be well informed on where the front line is and it's movement.

He claimed Russia have been pushed out of Severodonetsk when they are currently occupying 80% of it. So yes that is spreading misinformation. As for Odessa and Kharkiv I meant that Russia would look to make gains in those areas once they have taken the Donbas. Russia are busy handing out Russian passports in Kherson, Ukraine aren't getting it back

  16. 2 hours ago, magnkarl said:

I'm just curious, do you know how many active personnel Ukraine has compared to Russia?

The longer this war goes on, the less troops Russia have as they don't want to mobilise as it would be an admittance that it's a war. Ukraine is currently training 700.000 men in the West and there's a two week waiting period to volunteer for the UA army. These men will be trained, supplied and organised by NATO tactics. These things take time. The army fighting Russia in the east is largely still employing a hybrid between Soviet tactics and NATO tactics as they've been in contact since day one.

Also, do please note the 'gains' you're suggesting. Russia hasn't moved past a defensive line since Popasna using force, they've been lured into Severodonetsk only to be pushed out again, and now the front is at a total standstill except for around Kherson where Ukraine is pushing slightly every day, and around Kharkiv where small villages change hands every other day.

Russia control the vast majority of Severodonetsk, Ukraine's own officials say Russia is occupying 80% of it. But sure they've been pushed out because you say so. Spreading disinformation on a message board does not change the reality of what is happening on the ground. As for this huge army that is being prepared in Western Ukraine that will drive the Russians out in a great counter offensive, well I'll believe it when I see it

  17. 13 hours ago, magnkarl said:

Your whole idea is that you assume that Russia can actually push further than what they have. How long was it since they were going to take Donbas? They’ve pushed a few hundred meters a day at a cost which is frankly unsustainable. They couldn’t take Kyiv, Kharkiv or any other major city with their modern tanks and equipment and you assume that they’ll take i.e Odessa with their t62’s, no flag ship, bmp1’s and a rag tag band of depleted BTGs?

They might take Luhansk, at a push. Unless Putin mobilises.

But Russia are making gains in Donbas. You speak about Russia taking unsustainable losses in the process when it is in fact Ukraine who by their own admission are suffering casualties of a 1000 troops a day in Donbas.

  18. 1 hour ago, magnkarl said:

At this rate Russia won’t take anything other than maybe Crimea and Donbas. The NATO nations are expected to sign a new delivery deal today which will include main battle tanks, missile defence systems and even longer range artillery. This equipment will go up against t62’s and forced conscripts with no morale.

Maybe Ukraine stops the war when they’ve pushed Russia back to Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea, but it doesn’t seem like there’s appetite for any concessions at all.

Russia is having enough trouble with partisan activity in the areas they have now, soldiers are getting stabbed, collaborative mayors are getting killed and no one seems to figure out how to deal with it.

Morale will probably decide who wins this war. My bet is on the country defending themselves from annihilation.

It's Russias advantage in artillery that will determine this war. Ukraine admit they have 1 artillery piece for every 10 to 15 which Russia have. Even the western mainstream media narrative has already started to shift as it is becoming increasingly obvious that Ukraine is completley outgunned and getting battered in the East.  Ukraine will lose Donbas, most and perhaps all of its South Coast and probably Kharkiv and even more eventually. The idea that Ukraine will completely drive the Russians out and will take back all the territory they have already lost and will continue to lose  is a pipe dream. Defending is one thing but taking back territory when you are outgunned and the enemy has air superiority is something completely different. What happened to the great Kherson counter offensive?

Ukraine are by their own admission taking very heavy casualties in Donbas which is where their best troops are. What will the morale of Ukrainian troops be like when Russia has taken Donbas and have wiped out a significant portion of Ukraine's best troops in the process?  This is going to get worse and worse for Ukraine unfortunately. The longer it takes for Ukraine to make concessions the more territory they will lose.

al shabaab 67 attacks, IS 472 attacks, al qaeda 30, boko haram 55, taliban 85 so thats a total of 709 attacks carried out by Islamic extremists

theres been a total of 1441 attacks

    thats 49%

even if you throw in the 299 others, of which there is a fair few unassociated islam extremists (not all of them though) thats still only 70%

even the overwhelming majority of other are islamic related and the vast majority of unknown is muslim majority countries

I don't see that written anywhere in anyone's post.

It seems you have come here with a preconceived agenda.

That is clearly what his post implies. No concern for the victims just muslims from a backlash which is usually described as 'islamophobia'. A ridiculous term created by the muslim brotherhood

my comment was in response to the suggestion that converts are worse...

the bloke who killed lee rigby for example, iirc he converted and went straight in to extremism and spent the next 10 years involved in it, has he been drawn to islam or has he been drawn to extremism? id guess the latter, in which case my point stands, he's using his belief in islam as a justification for the fact that he's a **** idiot

Right so all these  idiots just happen to join islam. All this terror just happens to come from certain religion. What is it extreme to you or Me is not considered extreme by islamic doctrine or the actions of Mohammed.

  22. 2 minutes ago, Lichfield Dean said:

Well, although this seems on the face of it to be an Islamic terrorist action, let's assume for this argument it isn't and it is the actions of an unreligious man with a grudge against the police or something. The increased fervour as a result of this accusation could lead to reprisals against ordinary Muslims, a furthering of extreme right-wing agendas, more leverage for the likes of Trump to push through his laws, all sorts.

Putting that to one side though because it may well be related to Islam anyway, a known radicalised hate-monger might now have cause to sue and get himself a load of money to further his potentially aspirations; his family and acquaintances might now be unfairly targeted by those looking for some kind of 'revenge'; all kinds of things could end up happening as a result.

However you look at it, incorrectly naming somebody as a multiple murderer in the national press is disastrous, but in this climate I just think it could have all sorts of repercussions.

I also now won't be considering the Independent to be a reliable news source - the number of which are sadly dwindling rapidly.

Of course, the real victims of these attacks are muslims due to 'islamophobioa'. Come on now
