  1. Not often I take in 3 films in a week but this is one of them - in order and the 2nd two coming off recent recommendations here so thanks for those

    The Holdovers

    Late night with the devil

    Laroy Texas

Definitely best to worst but I enjoyed all of them - Civil War up next I think

  2. First time in America a few years ago now the Knicks had no home games so I went to see the Brooklyn Nets so they became “my team” they were not a playoff team at this time and the best player was probably Brook Lopez

Heading back next month whilst they have 2 home games so I was excited to see KD live but I was gutted when I heard the trade news this week but I’d been fearing the worst since Irving left a few days before

So they’re back to a similar place they were the first time I went player wise but they’re in a playoff position and hopefully some fire in the belly of some of them that were either already there but never in the spotlight or those who were sent there last minute - we’ll see

Agree with earlier poster though that the league is about as open as it has been since I’ve been following

  3. Downloaded this now but can’t do a great deal on it - saying I need to reset my password for EA which I’ve done but no joy - surely shouldn’t be this difficult!

There's a weapon by the entrance to the fight. Use that. Use the mimic (levelled up) and you'll smash through it.

All of these games have a boss fight where they want you to use a specific weapon, the serpent is this games one.

Thanks for the advice - took a bit of levelling on that specific weapon and the mimic tear but finally got there today after work

hopefully I can start making good progress again now that’s been the biggest blocker to me so far

Yes! @M_Allback_14, paying extra for a decent pair of trainers is absolutely worth it. If you can, buy them somewhere that has a treadmill and a bit of expertise - getting the right shoe for you is so important to get the most out of your running.

I broke a bit of a barrier myself today. Did a sub 25min 5k, which I rarely do and haven’t really trained for. Having mostly done weights (and lots of it!) over winter, I’m about a stone over my ideal running weight. To then do my best 5k in a few years feels damn good and bodes well for the spring season. I usually do my best running mid spring and mid autumn.

Well done! 25 mins is about my limit as well speed wise for 5km - today’s run came in at 58 mins

I will get myself in to have that done then - I’ve never lifted a weight in my life but I’m about as healthy/fit as I’ve been so who knows I might get the itch to try those at some point

  6. Missed parkrun run yesterday so was keen to get out today and managed to complete 10km for the first time

Really enjoying it at the moment rather than seeing it as something I need to do which is massively helping

I’ve never spent more than £50 or so on footwear to run in but I might be justifying an upgrade soon

  7. Another shout to beard who seems as genuine as they come

I like music is win - shortish (10 mins or so) guitar videos based around a theme - top 10 riffs etc

undisputed - not sure if this should be included as it’s just an easy way to watch what is a daily show in the US but I like the NBA stuff

summoning salt - think I might have found this in the documentaries thread on here at some point but this is very well put together look at speed running records in games - doesn’t post very often but I’d recommend having a look at what’s already up

KEXP - radio station in US who post live sessions with interviews and the quality always seems to be good and rewarding to listen to people I’ve never heard of before

Butterfly Catching and Cactuar side quest done in FFX, Magus Sisters secured, and 10 of all monsters captured.

The level grinding begins here in earnest; although I do need to polish off Blitzball for whatever sigil is required for Wakka's celestial weapon.

Still haven't plucked up the courage to give 200 lightning dodges another go though...

Go for it - I never managed the lightning dodges on the ps2 version but I got it done on the PS4 remaster (not sure if it was made easier but there’s certainly a section of it that’s consistent so you can repeat it over and over)

still one of my favourite games

  9. Hoping to return to Parkrun this Saturday for the first time since COVID - I know it’s been back running for a while again but it’s taken me until now to get the motivation

Just checked my account and I was up to 19 runs across 4 different sites so I think once I’m back into it I’ll try a few new ones to keep it fresh

    The link doesn't work.  :)

Grrr I’m not sure then - I checked the site issues section on here and I could only find one solution on offer as I only use my mobile to come on here so I’m out of ideas on how to try again

    Any news on this?  :)

Yes - thanks for asking this came last week and if I knew how to upload pictures on here I would have posted sooner no doubt

Guitar wise I stuck with Gretsch in the end and so far couldn’t be happier with it - I’ve picked it up every day so far

The amp was from a brand I didn’t know anything about before I started looking - the number of functions on it is a bit overwhelming but the preset modes are more than enough for me so far - personal favourite at the moment is called “super crunch”

  12. I’ll fess up as well and say I got RHCP tickets this week but for Glasgow instead of London

I’ve not seen them with John so that’s my justification - £185 for two tickets which must be the most I’ve paid for a single day event

  13. Thanks all for the heads up - guitar wise I think I’m settled on either a squier telecaster or a gretsch streamliner, amp wise after today’s research I’m not too worried about as there seems lots of good options around the £100-£120 mark

Payday can’t roll around quick enough

  14. Looking to buy my first electric guitar and hoping to spend around £500 or so for guitar and amp - no great ambitions at this stage just enjoy trying to play along with songs I like at home (mainly rock/indie)

Any wisdom or stories of their firsts would be welcome - last year I got a PS5 as a present to myself for Xmas and I see this as being the equivalent this year

  15. Watched the documentary today and I agree with most on here that reform needs to go a lot further and I’m sceptical it will go as far as it needs to any time soon

Merson is very watchable and relatable and you want to see him get better - the only bit I can’t understand though is his relationship with the other pundits who were the face of all the advertising whilst he worked weekly with them on Sky (I’m guessing Merson was no part of those but if he was then that’s even odder)

I think I’d like to see him call out some of those people and get their perspective of what they think about being paid to do that sort of work now knowing the impact it can have
