Maybe I'm being optimistic, but We are the biggest team in the second biggest city. With a European cup winning history. Are we that much less of an attractive proposition of a club than Manchester City were? They share a smaller city than Bimingham with Man U as their neighbours. They have had a much more rocky history than us as well.

Gentleman please confirm it's not Paul Merson's drinking partner who's the contact again

Didn't someone seem to think that the tour of texas was going to be key? is Anschutz going come out sprinting onto the field of play to declare himself our saviour? I highly doubt it but at least it'll be another theory put to bed if it doesn't happen. It's the Saudi and Chinese links I've got my eyes on.
Who is the Chinese link?

PSG must be glad they spent 50 mill in Luiz

He wants out, yes, but he must protect his investment. We need to keep hold of Vlaar and Delph and make some shrewd signings now. Relegation is not a certainty, if ever Villa needs it's fans behind them it's now! UTV

I do find the appointment of Keane a curious one. I'm suprised Keane would have chosen coaching a struggling premiership club he has no previous connection to, over Celtic ( a club which he supported ) . I know he says the fact he can remain coaching Ireland was a factor, but we are meant to be in Limbo. Does he know something we don't? It feels to me someone higher up than Lambert wants Keane involved and I doubt Lerner would be meddling with Lamberts coaching staff, as he has always pretty much let Lambert take care of footballing matters. I've got a feeling there has been some kind of shift in power at the top. Just a feeling though.

Is it likely we'll get any kind of statement at the start of the season? Even if we have/haven't got a buyer, the fans do deserve a hint of what's going on

According to the Sun he signs next week
The Sun: Aston Villa are set to appoint Roy Keane as assistant boss next week. Keane was approached by Villa manager Paul Lambert a month ago. The ex-Sunderland and Ipswich manager will combine his new Villa duties with his coaching job under Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill. Keane is set to be at Villa when the squad reports back for pre-season training in 10 days.

Difference is, they are sensible with money and they bring better players through their youth system

I was chatting my boss who's a Fulham fan, he said "For effort, you could give him 9 out of 10, For messing up at the worst possible time, 10 out of 10. For knowing where to position himself when defending, 3 out 10" Then he laughed and said "good luck"

I'd potentially wait until next years clearance to tell them that. Imagine this team next year with no Vlaar or Delph, just Senderos added!!I'm going to buy that and put it up on the wall. When my grandkids moan about how bad Villa are in 2052, I will point to that and say, 'it'll never be that bad'

Well we can rule out Malcolm Glazer. Just passed away

Obviously I'm biased, but we are the biggest club in the second biggest city in the UK . With an excellent stadium and proud history. I just think there's huge potential for us and therefore we would be a good investment for someone wanting to build a successful premiership team.

500 pages of comedy gold. Someone should make a 'clip post' taking the best parts of the past 500 pages and rolling them into one super post!
Five hundred and kwan is a better landmark

We are quite weak I'd say. Having an ok starting 11 is all well and good, but you need a strong squad to do well, or in our case survive a season in the premiership. I think our midfield is the worst I've ever seen.

Personally i think Lambert reckons he get get us going again with the current squad and a few clever buys.Start the season well, get the points on the board, fans will quickly forget and perhaps get the new owner on side.I hope that is what he is thinking as at least we’ll have someone giving it ago during the mess.Lambert was at fault for a lot of shite last season, but with Vlaar for a full season, Okore, Kozák and Benteke back its not all as bad as fans seem to think.
True, but they could all get injured again next season and we would be in the same position

agreed. There's nothing to be happy about as a Villa fan at the moment, don't take away our puns.
The Kwan puns are the best thing about this thread.
They're not banned, briny, but pages of the things don't help people reading on small phones and the app. Same as massive nested quotes. Most threads are fine, but there's so many pages so quickly that scrolling through pages full of puns to get to some "news" is annoying for many posters. We're just trying to keep the site useable for everyone. Hopefully people understand why.So have puns been banned now?
I'm out.

I'm not so sure local rivalry is as important as a potential fanbase, Villa's potential fanbase is enormous.
