  2. I personally think there's a firm offer on the table, but its not the best (either not matching the £200m value, or from people Randy doesn't think would be good for us) so he's out the feelers out for someone new and if no one comes forward then he'll sell to them. That's just my feeling, I expect us to be sold before the season starts but I wouldn't hold my hopes on some multi billionaire coming in and making us the next Man City

Didnt someone post on here that randy has been offered £180 but is holding out for more?

Ha, people still going on TBAR?

I made up some information and posted it on twitter under "one use" account, and the info is now being thrown around over there like it's true. Makes you wonder really...

    Why would you do that?

  4. links to Rodwell  http://www.footballdirectnews.com/premier-league-news/42331-aston-villa-in-for-man-city-outcast.php#.Uxr-m3VJU5M so far

Aston Villa have joined a number of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell, [football] direct news understands.
The 22-year-old midfielder joined Man City in 2011 from Everton in a £12m deal but he has failed to establish himself at the Etihad stadium, appearing just three times in the Premier League this season.

Rodwell who was once hailed as a future England international has also seen himself fall out of favour in Roy Hodgson's plans and may not go to the World Cup this summer.

However, he has still gained interest from a number of Premier League clubs including West Ham United and former club Everton.

Joining them are Aston Villa and [FDN] understands that Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to add the youngster to his side.

if hes not willing to spend then he shouldn't be here.

I think the point he's trying to get to is where HE doesn't have to spend, and the club is generating enough money to cover wages and transfer fees. That's a pretty reasonable place to want to

I totally agree with you, but the club isnt big enough to do that. Running at a profit is a priority but the club would never be able to make that much profit that we could pay for transfers as well as cover wages.

I always thought football was about winning and competition. I know that's what appealed to me and what made me fall in love with it. There seems to be a growing number of fans who care more about a billionaire looking after his pennies than anything else. Its professional sport.

"I want a really wealthy businessman to run my football club and not care about the business side of it because it's just sport" is an incredibly naive way to think about it.

Also, winning and competition?  With Aston Villa? :D

fair enough about running the club at a profit, but in this day and age you have to spend in the prem. The sooner lerner moves on the better. I think all villa fans appreciate what he has done for the club but if hes not willing to spend then he shouldn't be here.

  7.

Tom Ince looks like he'll be off to Swansea, shame really as I would have loved us to sign him. I know though, out of our range nowadays.

Out of our range, Swansea ahead of us, shows how far we have fallen.

    :(

I cant believe how far villa have fallen over the years...

  8. Been following Villa Talk for a few years now and thought i should sign up!

Started following the Villa due to my dad taking me to the games, kinda wish he hadn't judging by recent times! :P
