Would anyone take Charlie Taylor from Burnley at LB? Strong, tall defender. Always seems to be able to beat the right back and get a quality cross in. Would be an upgrade on Targett for me and think he’s into his last year at Burnley.

Disappointing so far. Looks as though we'd have been better off putting the money for Ayew towards an out and out scorer like Austin
-
Ayew plus 6 million for Austin?

Just turned the Man City v Real Madrid game on and Delph is down getting treatment
-
Whoever on here had £300 on Delph staying - pleased for you!

He's 28/1 to join Liverpool if anyone thinks it's likely. Odds on to join Man City and evens to stay
-
Guzan played in USA's win over Germany last night. = him being a good keeper now who should be our first choice keeper without question
-
I'd have them in the team over Given, Richardson and N'Zogbia any day
There's probably a reason the 3 of them cost £5m total. If he doesn't rate Guzan, Cissokho and Gil, he's going to do very well to improve on them considering they cost £5m between them.

I ordered mine on the phone last Tuesday and it arrived yesterday so took a week.Anyone else still waiting for their ticket to be delivered? I ordered it online on Friday 8th May, Holte End time slot.

He wants to stay after his loan deal! http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tom-cleverley-im-ready-sign-9227396

I agree with the comments about keeping him being a risk with his injury record and likely wages. But buying a replacement of equal ability will probably cost a fair bit more over say the next 3 years with their transfer fee (a fair few million) and wages.
And we'd need to replace him as it'd be pretty optimistic to think that Okore and Clark would remain fit all season. Otherwise we'd be back with horror pairings like Clark and Baker [emoji33]

So 76% of fans think we should let Vlaar leave at the end of the season (Birmingham Mail http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-andreas-weimann-ron-8961315).
I'm shocked. Yes he probably will leave. But the poll is about who fans want to leave. I think Vlaar is incredibly underrated by a lot of fans. Yes he's injury prone. But since Lambert took over he's been a massive player for us. Particularly in Lambert's first season when we looked so much stronger defensively with him in the team. Despite how well Clark and Okore have played together I think Vlaar and Okore would be our strongest pairing. If Vlaar was tempted to stay now Sherwood is in charge I can't imagine he'd be as keen reading that. We'll miss him when he goes.

Should have gone 5 in midfield as we were overrun. Gabby should have been benched. Gil should have started. Frustrating that he doesn't get a look in.

This with Sinclair in for AgbonlahorGabby has a place on this team but it's on the wing he was out wide today a lot which helped defenders drag away from Benteke. Gabby still has blistering pace I thought it was very odd he was replaced by Weimann and wasn't at all surprised we didn't create another chance for the rest of the match!
As for Bacuna, probably hasn't got the engine. Would you choose someone who can run 12k in a match vs someone who can run 6k?
I'd go:
-------------------BACK 4-------------------
Lowton---Delph-----Westwood-----Gabby
--------------------Gill----------------------
------------------Benteke------------------
Look up our scoring ratio when Lowton is in the team compared to when he isn't. It's MUCH higher than the team average. Him and Gabby can both help the team defensively when required.
What's Gabby good at? Running fast.
What's he not good at? Interplay and finishing.
So why play him right next to Benteke in a 4-4-2? That's what we had been doing and he literally has been anonymous. Gabby is also capable of something close to a half decent cross unlike our useless wingbacks.
-
I'm hoping it's a back 5 with Hutton RCB and Lowton and Delph as wing backs. Rather that than a back 4 with Lowton LB. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet

Depressing Lambert style line up
-
He's scored more league goals at Villa Park than we have since our last one!Lambert would just have been a terrible panic buy. Sad state of affairs if after having a full month to buy players we were going to waste five million on a old Liverpool flop.
-
"there's only one decent Lambert! "The worst thing about missing out on Ricky Lambert is missing out on the endless entertainment that we could have had along the lines of:
"Lambert Out"
- "Are you bonkers, we just signed him"
"Lambert is crap"
- "but he scored a hat trick at VP last Saturday"
etc.
"Rickie Lambert's claret and blue army"
-
If Lambert gets us relegated our squad would be comfortably the best to go down in Premier League history.
I just wish he'd play a 4-2-3-1 with the 3 all being capable of creating something. E.g. Gil, Sinclair, Grealish. Or with 2 of them on the wings and Weimann playing behind Benteke. I don't see how we'd consistently fail to score/create then. Even if the formation looks positive the lineup rarely is.
-
He didn't have to give them both new contracts eitherDear oh dear. Sometimes extreme negativity can just take over the mind.
It's evidently clear any player he has brought over 3mill has been a good purchase.
The rest from the bargin bin where always going to be hit and miss.
Gabby and andi. Two of our biggest problems are nothing to do with Lambert.
But Lambert continues to pick these problems week in week out, surely that is his problem?

Lowton is a poor defender but very good in the final third and would/has shown before how he can provide Benteke with quality service.
Lowton??? christ he is abysmal-----------------Guzan
Hutton Okore Baker Cissokho
------------Sanchez Delph
Lowton -------Gil--------Grealish
-----------------Benteke
Would absolutely love to see this team. Solid defensively and set up perfectly to create chances for Benteke from all angles

First game was against Tottenham at home in October 1988 for my 9th birthday. I remember walking up the steps in the Upper Trinity and been awestruck by the beauty of the stadium and the pitch. We won 2-1. I'll have to dig out the vhs season review!

They’ve also been without Mee and Tarkowski in both games.
