Shows the mess we were in that we had an embargo. In terms of the deal itself can’t say I’ve seen too much of him but Liverpool won’t sell him so we are essentially developing him for them.. still, we need players so..
I don't like developing players for other clubs either but I'm not sure how choosy we can be.
What I don't like is the clause I've heard that Liverpool insert in loan deals. If fit he would have to play or we pay some financial penalty. That would definitely limit developing our own.

Heard this yesterday, glad he's staying, it's time to come together, we can work it out.
It was a nice try.... guess every one is too young.
I'm afraid she's leaving home

Nope, he covered it 18 years after it was written.
Its one of the things that annoys me re scousers. Ive heard them in interviews saying how they took a simple musical song and added significance to it because of hillsborough. So they made it a song saying those who died walk with them.
Fair enough you might think.
But it was written in 1945 at the end of the 2nd world war. I think maybe it had that significance for quite a few families before scousers came along.
Anti scouse rant over!
And no you cant 'invent' an anthem...

I think in will win, purely because I think those still on the fence will decide it's easier to keep things the same.
But a vote to remain is not a vote for things to remain the same.
It is a vote for greater european integration and EU expansion. The ultimate aim of the EU is to create a united states of europe. It was sold to us 40 years ago as simply a trading bloc and Ted Heath admitted in 1990 that was not the case. Let us hope that in 40 years time people are not looking at what has been created and saying that was not what they voted for

Sounds like he wants to run a club, which he will do now. At least he's enthusiastic, I just hope he is good now he has the reins.
And this concerns me.
He is a financier. He moves money about and facilitates the buying of clubs by rich investors.
So his work is done. Why does he need a seat on the board? Why does banfill? What are their credentials for successfully running a football club?
I'm not accusing him of wrong doing, I just can't see what he gains from staying involved, other than a guaranteed income.

Think I've seen an article claiming Norwich wanted £12m for him, can't see us paying anything close to that.
I have a feeling that prices might be getting inflated by the premier league tv deal.
Just read an article where watford are quoting £32m for troy deeney!!

I believe with Alderweireld, compensation still had to be agreed to remove the right to buy clause, otherwise it is simply breach of contract, isn't it?
I hadn't thought of that scenario, I suppose it could backfire if that were the case... But he'd have to do pretty well in one year for that to happen so fingers crossed we do well out of this one.Yep it's absolutely the key to it. The only (very remote) scenario where it burns us if it becomes an Alderweireld situation where the player does unbelievably better than the agreed fee during his loan spell and the owner club says f*ck that and sells him to the highest bidder.
And also, the player must have wanted to sign elsewhere.
This is a potential problem for us as he could be tapped up to go elsewhere. I doubt the loan contract would include details of a permanent contract for the player, so he could always reject whatever we offer.
I"m confusing myself now!
We won't know until it happens, so lets hope he has a good season and leave the fall out and what ifs until then...

Its been reported that he plays "along the back line", so right back would fit for us!Why are you guys putting Ilori as a RB or LB? He is the future CB of the portuguese national team alongside Paulo Oliveira from Sporting CP. He is a CB, and i don't recall seeing him playing as a RB or LB.
You can see him here against England (Euro U-21) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srQ7RUUpIa0
Italy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWyfFdzbZZw
Sweden at the final - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GfDsCm3VLQ
As for the pronunciation of his name as He-lo-ri
And name as in Hilary??!

I was thinking the same. Thought we could take other teams by surprise because they would expect us to be as shit as last year.
And its not beyond the realms of possibility that we'll see that exact team put out at some time this season. Its a remarkable effort by the Manager when you think about it.we've officially signed a whole new XI now:
Bunn
Crespo-Richards-Lescott-Amavi
Traore-Gueye-Veretout-Sinclair
Ayew-Gestede
not sure we've ever done that within one summer before?
Then I saw that a lot of teams have bought a lot of players too!
-
SSN just doing the usual repeated stuff but have just mentioned the ilori link.
Can't see why we'd be interested myself.
At least they've moved away from de gea for a bit.
and OT but who is this Dave Reed?
and shouldn't he be at school?
-
SSN still reporting Berbatov in the midlands as previously stated on here.
Prrsumably he would be signing of last resort, hanging around to see if we get anyone else in.
As a free agent, the transfer deadline doesn't apply, does it?
-
A witch hunt?
Adebayors mom?
Is it all back on?
-
19 appearances at Manure, I think.Anders Lindergaard close to joining West Brom on a free
He would have been a better goalkeeping choice than Bunn!! and one that could push Guzan..
He could well turn out to be one who struggles when asked to actually play.
Fergies record on getting keepers wasnt exactly great....
But, yes, he would be better than Bunn!!
-
Mea Culpa.
No that was the other guy that said he would stay at QPR cos he couldnt think of anyone else
He later said that he had said Villa because he couldn't think of anyone else!
They were asking him a series of questions regarding transfer rumours and he was giving his guesses. Looked like he thought about it though.Does Pearce know Sherwood at all (did they ever play together) or did it just sound a guess
I would love Austin, exactly what we need upfront imo.
Last season aswell, it wasn't like all his goals were tap ins. Some were volleys from 20 yards, he can create stuff by himself that I just don't se Gestede capable of.
Just rewound it because I was convinced it was Pearce, but it was indeed the other bloke.
My mistake.
Apologies.
But I don't think it sounded like Pearce knew anything. IMO.

On another day, we win that game confortably.
Richards doesn't clear it off their goal line, Gil shoots at the first opportunity instead of dribbling in the box and going down, the ref sees the push on Gestede and numerous other chances.
Oh and although Clark messed up for their 2nd goal, the shot was deflected (again!) and Guzan would have saved it easily IMO.
For me, it was miles better than the dross under Lambert so with players to come back (and come in?), I think things don't look too bad.
-
What happened???
TrentVilla posted and now its disappeared.
Has he gone to get an itk phone call?
I think we should be told.
-
TrentVilla!
If you're on here, don't mess about with italian nonsense.
We need the itk.
-
Tony Cascarino?
Ricci Scimeca was half-Italian...
There was the laughably poor Fabio Ferraresi...we need an Italian in the team, who was the last, Carbone?
in fact is Carbone the only italian to have played for villa?
I mean, he was never Irish!

I like Wilkins but his reputation was for the sideways pass.
How is he coping with all these midfielders we are buying that want to go forward!
