A draw doesn't really change anything other than to rule-out the goal-difference element, which is very unlikely after they stuttered past Burnley.

We have to put everything into this.

We can do it if VP is rocking.

If we get a point it means that Spurs have to win against City and S Utd, a draw or loss in either game and it is over. At this stage they can get a draw against City and then overturn goal difference of 8 minus however much we ended up loosing to Liverpool and Palace. It is unlikely but still not out of the realm of possibilities. For example if we lost combined 4 - 0 to Liverpool and Palace then Spurs would have to beat S Utd on the last day by at least 4.

    funny how things work out

Might be worth trading Jack and $90M from them for Morgan now :)

  3. I feel this late in the season there isn’t any real point in them playing games. They might as well continue their rehabilitation without needing to worry about returning to the pitch. Gives them a few extra months and a proper pre season.

It would be awesome to see them in the squad if there is room for them just to sit on the bench if we go into the last couple of games with 4th sorted though, otherwise no point risking leaving out someone who may play a part if we need the points.

Football is the most played sport by junior boys in Australia and the girls are closing the gap on netball every year.

The biggest issue is there is still no simple obvious pathways without laying down cash and the quality of grassroots to lower level coaching isn’t up to the standards needed to develop our youth. Unless you get lucky early and land with the right coach in the right area with money to travel you are behind the ball already.

The women's team is called Canberra United.  So I imagine that they would adopt that.

Won’t be a problem to change, Melbourne City used to be called Melbourne Hearts. A league loves money coming in and will easily pander to big Premier League clubs.

As much as Canberra loves Canberra United they don’t really care that much about the name as they have had a few different teams and proposals over the years. Harder thing to change would be the green. See you in Green is their main brand slogan and is tied to the Rugby League team colours.

I’m all for it, I have fallen a bit out of following the A League due to tv deal changes. My main team is Sydney FC but my women’s team is Canberra as I used to live there when the W League started off so I adopted them as it was like $10 to watch and only 5km from my house.  Going to be hard to pick allegiance between Canberra and Sydney FC if this deal goes through though.

Years ago I was in Malaysia and wandering around the street markets that seemed to consist of every other stall selling replica shirts.

I was there mid last year, it seems there were a lot more Spurs than before but still the big 6 plus Inter Miami and whatever team Ronaldo plays for. Lots of National shirts, the only Villa ones I could find were the ones where they had the better quality ones, 65 RM instead of 20 RM.

  7. I’d love to get Grant, fullback that runs heaps, bombs down the line and then rushes back. The only reason she doesn’t play much for the Aussie team is Ellie Carpenter plays in her position and when fit, Ellie would be in the top 5 in the world in that position.

    Fair play Shearer

He and Sherwood were on whoever gives us the feed in Australia after the game. Both of them were really positive about Villa and Emery, basically said not much Newcastle could do today, take some lessons and move onto next week.

Strange to hear them not making excuses for Newcastle but I thought it was balanced from them. Even Sherwood was really positive about Villa Park fans.

I think the only weak area we really have is keeper and Hampton can still improve.

Hampton had a shocker with their first goal but she has been real quality for most of the previous season with some bad defence in front of her. As she gets older hopefully her concentration will get better but I don’t think we will get any better than her too easily over the next few years.

Is Ange Postecoglou a crazy enough shout? It'd be a nice balance, we could bring the city of Glasgow together in venom and fury. An olive branch of sorts!

I wrote a hundred odd pages back but the big issue with Ange is he takes a fair bit of time to mould his teams into his style. He has a history of poor starts and then turns it into something amazing. I recall when he first started at Celtic people were calling for him to be sacked after a month.

Ange needs to come into a team at preseason or take over mid season when there isn’t really any issues if they perform poorly for a few months. We need points soon or relegation will hang over us the rest of the year, it’s not exactly ideal for Ange.

Plus unless we throw him a crazy offer he has just got Champions League, he would be hesitant to leave when he can test himself there.

    Fond memories of Ange's "Roarcelona".

He will be up for it, and I wouldn't be too much against it.

I’d love Ange, he has managed all the teams I dislike so might as well Finally manage my favourite and I really like his style. Main issue is it seems to take him 3 months to get teams playing his style which we just can’t afford currently.

  12. Until I saw all the crests on a page in the survey I didn't realise how many clubs have the round shield with an emblem in the middle and words on the outside. I know it is the current in look but it does make it hard to pick out club badges from a lineup. I wonder if in 10 years time as fashion changes we will still see so many round badges.

  13. Though his link up play with KKH and Bailey tonight was excellent. He didn’t seem to get caught in possession as much tonight either. Still didn’t boss the midfield but much better than against Leeds.

One of his crosses was terrible, one of the fans near me really got in his back after that one.

Is it really going to be that detrimental to his development if he is playing U21 football for the next 11 months?

Why would we even play him in u21s? If he isn’t signing we will get the development fee if we don’t sell him anyway. Just let him train by himself and play no games. I doubt youth contracts have must play conditions in them.

  15. Post just on avfc Facebook with Gerrard, he said that he hasn’t signed a contract that has been with him for a while so Steve made the decision to leave him in the UK. Hause is recovering from surgery and Anwar is expecting his first child, everyone else is there.
