Well done boys. 2M in the bank and MON first cup.

Anyway enough of the midfield for now. What a good performance by the boys. 4 or 5 years ago Villa would have been beaten even before we had kicked off. One site of Porto and we would have gone to bits. So well done again to the lads and lets win something this season.

This business of Reo-Coker and his poor passing seems to be a bit of a fixation in the North West. I well remember one thread at the tail end of last season in which one or two were asking why NRC wasn't getting more chances being invaded by one of them saying "All hail the great saviour Reo-Coker" or something along those lines.

Passing isn't his strong point. It wasn't with Makelelé either. But some seem to have decided he can do nothing right, if that isn't too much of an exaggeration on my part.

No spot on. Most managers have a certain role for each player, with MON he has a definative role for each player. Move away fron the given role and your out the team. That's why Sidwell was out most of last season. Stick to your role in the TEAM and you will play even with poor form as long as you do your JOB. NRC is at long last doing his so I think MON will not be to consurned about a stray pass now and again.

That's the frustrating thing about NRC, he runs and runs and breaks up play then immediately returns possession to the oppositon.

Like I said win the ball give it to the best midfield player, trouble is Villa don't have him yet. At Chelsea Makalel won it gave it to Lampard simple. Nige is doing his bit but when he wins the ball he don't have many options along side him.

Walsallvilla, Sidwell made a few great interventions in his own penalty area, you must have been watching a different game to me. I thought the two players were superb in the centre, never gave the cheating, diving Porto people any time at all.

No I was watching the same game But was reacting to LancsVillan talking about NRC. I think Sidwell done better than Wednesday night but still gets caught out up field due to him playing the attacking role in midfield. As others have said the front players never held the ball up enough. My main point NRC wins the ball for us better than eneyone else in the villa team.

Commentators are tops. Maybe NRC does have to play he gives us snap and tempo. He also gets us the ball back!

Does nothing with it when he gets it and needlessly challenged to put us under a little pressure at the end. Easy to see why he never got many games last season and why he should be replaced for me.

Good result and Goo'san' played very well and looks a decent keeper all round.

NRC is in the team to win the ball and then give it to someone else with more skill. The problem is Sidwell is caught out up front to often and can't get back in position in time. NRC gave away a soft pen at the end because we had palyed most of the 2nd half with 10 men and he had covered more ground tham enyone else on the field. Also he was fouled before the pen but the ref missed it!.

All done well. At half time I said to my mate Porto will start diving and cheating and they did. Heskey should have known better being an England player not to get involved. But well done Villa and JR. The kids look good and 8's all round.

I have been a season ticket holder for ten years and last season i took my son to his first few games. As he was not a season ticket holder and only 7 I had to get a ticket for my sister aswell to accompany him. For this season I intended to get him the seat next to me as it was not held by anyone as a season card last term. I was told by the ticket office to put his name on a waiting list and to specify the seat required. As stated due to his age the only option was to get the seat next to me.However when I phoned up today as requested by letter from AVFC I was told the seat had been allocated to someone else who relocated days ago. When I pointed out that I had reserved the seat I was told this was not possible. However having seen the post by paulanddonya this is exactly what he did and he has got the seat he wanted.

Can you please explain why I have missed out as I will have a very disappointed 7 year old when he comes home from school.
