Just one I think - we're the highest unseeded team, so one of those 2 happening bumps us up into the seeded teams. Or a shock in the early qualifying rounds

No the Mitjyland one is to not push us down another place…. BOTH need to happen, as I understand it

We should know as villa fans by now that if you only need one of 7 games to go our way then that's the easiest accumulator ever

Not really the case because the playoff draw is made before the 3rd qualifying round is played. And the seeded teams will be monumental favourites in 2nd qualifying round.

I think to be seeded we need both of the below:

    Mitjyland to lose next weekend

    fenerbahce to win next weekend

even if we are unseeded I fancy us to beat most teams; but it would be just our luck to get a Juventus

Obviously not our season, Kane scores a top corner free kick for first time in a decade.

Didn't really need Spurs getting an early goal in this I'm afraid as they can open Brentford up now on the break.

Can't wait until he leaves them as then finishing above Spurs becomes much easier.

Agreed. Will be gutted to miss out on Europe but Gerrard squarely to blame.

I think the writing is firmly on the wall for Dean. The appointment of Conte at Spurs, the expected appointment of Emery at Newcastle is a wake up call to our ambitious owners.

They may well have considered that they had a few more matches to make up their minds about Smith's ability to take us forward, but events at other 'financially well off clubs' may trigger a response.

Are we as ambitious as Spurs and Newcastle? If we are then NSWE will be monitoring our situation very closely. Dean may well prolong his management tenure at AVFC with a convincing win against Southampton on Friday evening, but with other clubs showing ruthless ambition can we afford to sit on our hands and hope for the best?

Agree and hope this is right. At the moment I firmly believe Smith is to blame and the board are blameless, but if they dilly dally over this then they also need to take some responsibility. A win at Southampton may end up a bad thing if it papers over the very obvious cracks and I just don’t think Dean is up to the job of taking us to the next level - sadly.
