Swansea at home. Could be very interesting to see how Aston Villa would do against "the Spanish armada".

Welcome to our Danish friends. Are there any other young quality players from Denmark we should be looking at?
Yes there are some very promising young danish players.
Especially the danish under 19 national team is considered a "golden generation". They didn't qualify for the under 19 championship because they lost 2-0 to Portugal last weekend.
Hypothetical question for you Aalborg BK...............How do you think the Danish under 19's would fair against Aston Villa FC under 19's bearing in mind we are the current European Champions at that level?.
Well that´s a very interesting hypothetical question. To be honest I don´t think I can answer it since I haven´t seen Aston Villas Under 19 champions play. It´s very impressive that Aston Villa are current Under 19 European Champions. I don´t know any of the young Aston Villa players, but I can imagine that they must be very talented. They must be in order to win the Next Gen Series.
If I have to give an answer anyway I must say that I would regard the Danish Under 19 nationalteam as small favourites if they were to play against Aston Villas Under 19 champions. But again it´s only a guess, since I don´t know the quality of the Aston Villa team.
The danish team is very talented, it´s probably the best danish generation in years. Although Denmark didn´t qualify for the European Under 19 Championship they were very unlucky not doing so. Denmark thrashed the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, but then very unfortunately lost 2-0 to Portugal. Despite the danish goalkeeper was sent off after just 5 minutes Denmark should have won the game. Portugal played at home and got much help from the referee. The red card to the danish keeper was a mistake and Portugal even got 2 wrong penalties (they missed the first penalty).

However Denmark played better than Portugal despite the danish goalkeeper received a red card after just 5 mins. If they had qualified for the under 19 championship Denmark would certainly be among the favourites.
Many of the danish players are already at clubs such as Chelsea, Fulham, Inter Milano, Bayern Munich and Ajax.
Christian Eriksen, 21, is also a big talent. Eriksen is leaving Ajax this summer. Eriksen have been linked to many top clubs like Milano and Liverpool. It though looks like Eriksen are sold to Dortmund.
Viktor Fischer, 18, is also a very promising talent. Fischer is a regular starter at Ajax and despite beeing very young, he already have played some games for the danish national team.
Is that Rasmus Falk from Odense any good in real life?
Rasmus Falk is a very talented player in the midfield. Beeing very technically Falk is a key player at Odense BK. However Falk is very fragile. In fact Falk missed the entire spring season due to injury. Falk are very slim and I don't think that he got the strenght to play in England.

According to the local newspaper in Aalborg (Nordjyske) Helenius are presented as Aston Villa player tomorrow or on wednesday. Some minor technicalities needs to be solved.
-
He's not signed yet, however he definitely has the right manager and set-up to bring him through.
That´s true, but Helenius are probably signing the contract in a matter of hours. He should pass the medical without difficulty. Helenius haven´t had a serious injury in years.

Congratulations on signing Helenius. You´re getting a striker with a lot of talent, but Helenius are not ready to be in the starting eleven. He will need time to adapt to the pace of PL and to build on some more muscles.
I guess most of you have seen some of Helenius´goals in the linked videos. As you might have noticed Helenius is despite being tall not a traditional attacker. Weak in the aerial play, although he have improved in the last year or so. Instead Helenius are technical gifted for a striker this tall, and he also have a great shot with his right foot.
As some of you might have noticed in the videos Helenius almost don´t score any "easy striker goals". Helenius are best in a more free role, where he can use his technique and great shot. He will certainly struggle if placed as the sole attacker up front, in my opinion Helenius are better when playing together with another striker, which he has done at AaB.
Among AaB supporters there are mixed feelings about the transfer. Of course everyone can understand why Helenius are so keen on being sold to Aston Villa. Shifting to AV is a unique opportunity. However the transfer fee is not as high as hoped by many AaB supporters as PL clubs usually pays big money. Aalborg BK are struggling financially and I certainly fear that there won´t be money left to buy a decent replacement.
Even though Aalborg Stadium are looking very small when you are used to PL stadiums, Aalborg BK are in fact one of the top clubs of Denmark (top 5)! In order to compete with the other top teams in the danish Superliga, it´s a huge problem that Aalborg BK are selling key players cheaply compared to other danish top teams.
Premier League is very popular in Denmark. I will certainly follow Aston Villa in the coming season. Not only because AV are signing Helenius, but also because AV is a big traditional club, who are willing to give young players a chance and not spending huge transfer fees like some of the other clubs in PL.
In Denmark Swansea are getting a lot of attention due to their manager Michael Laudrup. It would be nice if the danish media would focus more on other teams such as AV. That might happen soon as Michael Laudrup yet again probably are about to leave another club after a short stay. That also happened at Getafe (Spain), Spartak Moscow and Mallorca.

Please don't compare Helenius to Crouch!!!
Helenius is not awkward on the ball. He can play some great passing and football.
Although Helenius might look like Crouch, he is a totally different footballer. Helenius is weak in the air, but are instead technically gifted and have scored some memorable goals especially from distance.

He only had 12 months left on his contract so the fee was always going to be lower than AaB would have wanted.
Several times Helenius have made it clear that he wanted to be sold this summer. He have refused to extend his contract, which of course with only 12 months left this summer, is having a negative impact on the selling price. It´s been a problem in years that Aalborg BK are selling key players at low prices. Being located far away from Copenhagen players and the club itself, tends to get very underestimated by the Danish media which often is located in Copenhagen.
That also explains why the press are so busy praising Cornelius (playing at FC Copenhagen) despite having obvious weaknesses. Helenius is a better striker!

Hi
Sorry for my rather bad english skills.
As an AaB supporter I would like to give you a short review of Nicklas Helenius Jensen. Usually called Helenius as Jensen is a very common surname in Denmark.
Congratulations on signing Helenius. Despetite of what being said, Helenius is a very good striker. In my view Helenius is way better than Cornelius and Makienok. Being the MVP of the Superliga the last two seasons (goals/assist) Helenius certainly is not to be underestimated. Helenius is a very different striker than Cornelius and Makienok. Cornelius and Makienok are both very tall and very strong. They are monstrosities in the aeriel play, actually they would both be ideal candidates at a team like Stoke City.
Despite being tall Helenius is technically gifted and has a great shot with his right foot. Unfortunally his left foot is not so good, but that being said he have made some decent goals with his left foot.
Despite being very tall (1,96 m) Helenius is certainly not a traditional target player. Helenius is at best below average when it comes to the aerial play (Premier League level). Actually Helenius made his first goal in aerial play in game nr. 95 out of 102 appearences for Aalborg BK! (I guess you can imagine the disbelief among the supporters when Helenius finally succeded). It have been a big weakness, but in the recent year Helenius have improved in the aerial play. In the last 3 seasons Helenius have missed a lot of chances because he have been so weak in the aerial play. In order to compete in Premier League he certainlly have to improve more at this point. He also need to build on some more muscles and adapt to the pace of the PL.
When introduced in the first team Helenius were criticiced. He was tall, slim/slender, had a weak strength, had a funny running style and he looked a bit lazy. Now he is in my view the best striker in Denmark. For some unknown reasons the old tired coach of Denmark (Morten Olsen) prefers other types such as Bendtner, Cornelius and Makienok. You should be happy signing Helenius as Cornelius is highly overrated. Cornelius made a huge impact in the autumn season of the Superliga, but since the winter break he has played awful. Helenius is way better technically and makes great goals and assists. Cornelius only benefits from playing at a team producing a lot of chances.
Of course Helenius need time to adapt to PL. He ain´t ready to be in the starting eleven, but given time he will certainly improve and slowly push on for the starting eleven.
Among AaB supporters there is very mixed feelings about this transfer. Of course it´s a unique chance when given an offer from a big PL club like Aston Villa, so everybody understands why Helenius is so keen on making a move to AV. Being the star player of AaB it´s a huge loss selling Helenius, especially when the transfer price is said being around 1,2 million £. Aalborg BK have in recent years struggled financially, only escaping bankruptcy by narrow margins. Of course many had hoped of a higher selling price, as PL teams usually payes big money. That being said 1,2 million £ is still a lot of money, but many supporters fears that given the clubs critical economy, that there probably won´t being any money left to buy a decent replacement. That were also the case when the club sold it´s biggest talent in years, Lucas Andersen (17 at the time), in august 2012 to dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
Aalborg BK won the championship in 2008 and were very succesful in the Champions League (drew 2-2 at Old Trafford and knocked Celtic out), in 2009 AaB lost in the Europe League to Manchester City after a penalty shootout. After that the club almost hit bottom, especially financially. In may 2011 the club were very close of being releagated. AaB were saved by the most miracular espace ever seen as they escaped relegation in the last minute of added time due to a result in another game (on a european level as well I almost guess). Since then things have improved, but the economy is still very fragile.

Hi Villa fans,
I am an Aalborg BK supporter and wants to give my views about the possible signing of Nicklas Helenius. Anyway I got a problem and I hope that someone can sort it out. I can´t make a comment in the Helenius thread. It seems as the topic is locked. At the top right of the screen it says: "You cannot reply to this comment/thread". Hope someone can help me (I already looked at the "help section", but I couldn´t find an answer)

Congratulations on signing Helenius!
I really hope that Helenius in time are going to be a success at Villa. Helenius are a very talented striker, but keep in mind that he'll need time to adjust to Premier League.
It's very difficult moving directly from the danish Superliga to Premier League. As some of you have mentioned Helenius needs to pull on some more muscles and adapt to the pace of PL.
I'm really looking forward following Villa in the coming seasons.
Personally I think it's great that Aalborg are able selling a player to Aston Villa. However I'm concerned how AaB will perform without Helenius, as he scored 30% of Aalborgs goals in the last two seasons (MVP of the Superliga last two seasons). If combining goals/assists Helenius were involved in nearly 50% of Aalborgs goals last season.
That's why some AaB supporters really fears the coming season as there might not be money let to buy a decent replacement.
