@3_Penny_Opera Was in town last night, for one night only. I knew he'd be looking dapper, so I had to try to out-dapper him.

You looked dope my friend, also Scarfes Bar is a great bar.  Vodka isn’t my thing being from New Orleans but Altamura did a good job of sorting the trip.

I hope to be back in London for a longer trip so we can have a proper pint in a pub with carpet on the floor and a cat.

    loved seeing you, my friend.

Not sure about "hidden" but  on our road trip ( which was mainly planes , cheaper and quicker than driving everywhere  )  we did

Washington -  loads to see and do here  , not to mention you can take a day trip to Gettysburg .. can't wait to go back tbh  .. I posted a pic of the Enola Gay and said Wow America has a plane named after the OMD song ... one friend took the  bait  , shame I couldn't get more , but oh well

Atlanta -  We only went as my mate is a Braves fan ,but we had a look around ,  the Cyclorama was interesting enough ( civil war theme going on here)  ..memorable because the night crew at Burger King called the Police when we tried to buy a burger at 2 am without a car  ..guess they've never watched playschool and know the universal mime for driving a car

Memphis - bit average to be honest , but then none of us our Elvis fans , saying that the Sun Studio tour was very good  ... nice bar area though and the Flying Saucer bar has about a trillion different beers you can drink

New Orleans - an easy train ride from Memphis , well it would be in a country that knew how to run trains , we had around a 5 hour delay and the buffet car ran out of beer to really rub it in  ... it's kind interesting though as you go through Missouri and what not and literally see a man on a porch with a banjo and straw in his mouth next to broken pick up truck  ... Bourbon street for your drinks , New Orleans Saints for your entertainment :)  and you can ride a paddle boat down the Mississippi river .. and also visit the graveyards , play name the movie for each street /landmark  , even the French Quarter  is nice  ..  nice place , worth a visit

Vegas - Yeah Vegas Baby , don't really need to say a lot here ... do the helicopter flight over the Canyon , it will take you over the hoover dam along the way  ... pick one that flys from MCarran , Boulder airport is miles away

Denver - a Kind of hidden Gem ... Rather than Denver itself we stayed in Golden which I guess would have a been a wild west outback back in the day , walked in a bar and everyone knew we were from out of town sort of thing , very friendly though  ... we went to Redrocks and saw a concert there , ( tick that one off the list) doesn't really matter who is playing just go for the experience   .... we also  drove up Mount Evans ( highest road in America  , tick that one off the list)  ... driving a 5 litre American muscle car that can't do corners around a mountain in the fog is always entertaining  .. also went to some steam train museum  ... Denver town is very nice even if it's tainted somewhat by the Bronco's stadium  :) a good couple of days all in all , well worth considering

Philadelphia - finished off there .. quite possibly the highlight  , where else can you run up the Rocky steps and do the "thing"  ... the walking tours are superb , even if they are slightly laced with pro American feelings :)  ... found an out of town bar with vinyl and a huge collection so you could just put a record on , left there at midnight asked a taxi to take us somewhere that we'd enjoy ... he took us to a gay bar  :) .. I sorta twigged when the music video went form Kyle to the Weather girls to YMCA , but in case I had any doubt a man with a beard sitting at the bar then waved at me  ... had a couple of drinks and then decided to move on , beardy man kept patting his knee for me to go and sit with him ... left the club ran into a gang of about 10 black kids who then proceeded to take the piss out of our accents when they heard us speak " would you like cup of tea" and that sort of thing ... needless to say we fell into the trap of thinking we were going to get robbed ,killed etc , so very sorry black kids of Philadelphia for thinking the worst of you  , and thanks for pointing us to the 7-11 and a bar that was still open  ..

Great place America , still so many bits of it I need to see

When in New Orleans drop by Jewel of the South and Manolito for drinks and food.

That's brilliant. How did they manage to accidentally think you supported Liverpool though? Did they just mishear you when you talked about it?

I was pretty shocked, and honestly all my American football fans saw it and laughed at me at first because they know who I support and know I detest the red scouse 😍

  4. I just got off work and I know I'm 7 hours behind you guys, also I think this isn't the best thread to throw this out there...but I never really rated McGinn.  He is tenacious for sure, but it doesn't resonate with the results we need.  When I saw he was given captain i knew Gerrard might not be our man.  And now McGinn is proving it true.  How can Ramsey get better on a team where he can't learn much from?  I think we beat relegation but do know it is in our future.  I "want" Gerrard to be our guy but I don't think it's in the cards.  I hope I'm wrong, because I want what Viera is doing w/ Palace to be what Stevie can do for us.  Because Palace and Viera look damn good.

Ashley Young owned Foden.  His performance and confidence was amazing today.

Watkins I think needs the confidence he had during corona.  He's lost it.  Working hard, mind, but it isn't there.

If McGinn doesn't start who does?  Because not only is McGinn not a captain at our level, he isn't a starter for me.

  5. I understand Ings starting since it’s against his former club but he just hasn’t worked of late in my opinion.

I wish we had someone to compete w/ Luis for that midfield job because he’s been lacking/poor for me lately.  I amost want Ashley Young to take his spot.

if we could blend Ramsey and McGinn it would be fantastic.  Ramsey needs McGinn’s tenacity to go w/ his beautiful football talent and speed.  I like them both on, but when does Bailey get a game?

who is better to partner Ming’s at back, Chambers Konsa or House? and is Digne really that good?

Coutihno rates higher for me when Buendia is on the pitch, otherwise I don’t notice him.

Sansone for Luiz?  We need someone for Luiz.

  6. There is only one other player I hate in football more than Suarez….extremely not thrilled.

jesus what a four letter word starting w/ a t Suarez has always been for me.

    gag me….

  7. I am worried about this one.

would obviously love the 3 points but anything less than a draw against Leicester will hurt the newly instilled  confidence Gerrard has brought back to the Lions of the midlands.

the visitors are in good form, in my opinion and their 2 talisman are also happily scoring.

Big win for Villa if it happens.

  8. Can he please just start.  I am so tired of the subbing in…is he a full 90 min player ?
    the entire midfield needs shuffled.

I am tired of seeing our same midfield it is extremely average and will only result in bottom of the table finish.

Feels like one of those words that was originally descriptive in Latin languages that became a pejorative. If you’re not comfortable with it, let your partner know and come up with a different name for the same cocktail, maybe just based on the name of your bar. That way, it’s a still a classic you just don’t call it that. You’re still serving the drink, and if people ask for one you’re still serving it.

    Youre right.

And we did already change the name to Jazz Daiquiri once (it's on the menu now).  Because the history of the cocktail was slightly tactless by adding creme de cacao(chocolate) to the daiquiri to emulate black jazz musicians.

I have to be honest, I've never heard the word mulatto before. Is that a word used a lot in America?

It isn't used a lot, no.  It's an afterthought really, and dated.  Obviously stemming from Mule and derogatory term for mixed race (specifically black and another race).

  11. I do have a question.

I am a partner of a Cuban Bar and Restaurant and have always had an aversion to the drink name, Mulata/Mulato Daiquiri.  I understand it is a classic, et al, I just personally don't enjoy the name.

Well another partner wants to add it to our menu and I am having trouble working up talking to him about how I dont want the name Mulata on a menu that I have something to do with.  Also, I'm half black and half white and hate the name mulatto.

    Curious what your lot think.

Pretty poor form this, considering some Muslim extremists took the same view as you (a cartoon I don't like justifies violence) and attacked the place.

Yeah, I am just now seeing my idiocy.

    Agreed.

That would make you as intollerant of other peoples opinions as ISIS

Not sure what is so disgusting anyway, it equates the Royal Family with a racist police. The analogy stands up. Markle feels like she had no freedom within the Royal Family, hence the can't breath because the queen is pressing on her neck.

    Damn.

You're right,  how did I not see it this way?  Jesus I'm a fool.
