  1. I've got this nagging horid feeling we will get turned over tonight. I would love us to get to wembley, the final is a week before i get married so what a 2nd stag wkend that will be. I thought Heskey did well when he came on Sat and he played and scored here last year so i'm going for him to start and us to nick it 2-1. I'd like to see Fabian Delph given a go as i hear NRC is struggling. So presuming Warnock is feeling better i'd go with

    Guzan

    Warnock

    Young

    Cuellar

    Dunne

    Delph

    Petrov

    A.Young

    Milner

    Gabby

    Heskey

SUBS: Downing, Carew, Clark, Delfouneso, Friedel, Gardner, Sidwell

  2. David Moyes has won as much at Everton as O'Neill has at Villa - nothing. Removing O'Neill will put us back 5 years, a new manager will want to spend money on another team and we have the basis of a good one, we just lack 2 maybe 3 players of real quality that will take us up another level. Trouble is the real real quality go to teams like Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and now Man City. We will be there or there abouts hovering around 5/6/7th all year and will almost certainly finish in the top 8. I think if we can get to a cup final - hopefully win a trophy - and finish in the european places the majority of Villa fans will be happy with that.

  3. i tell you what the worst part is. Reading people's comments that they want the manager out when we lose and how brilliant we are when we win. Does my head. Bottom line is Villa will lose games, Villa will win games, we will finish in top 8 - maybe a cup final as well but we lack that little bit of guile and that little bit of quality that turns decent teams (villa, everton, spurs) into top 4 material. Simple as that. I'm fed of reading the ridiculous comments on here and the childish overreactions to defeats. Good night.

    Spot On.

But it's also foolish to think that when a bunch of passionate supporters have watched their team play poorly, lose in injury time and play with a team that was far from the popular choice, there won't be a little 'ranting' going on immediately after the game - if only to get it out of their system.

The reality is obviously somewhere inbetween the two.

    Agree

But its easy to pick a team on football manager

But more difficult in the hardest league in the world

The eleven picked are capable of beating horse shit teams like wigan, b'burn and west ham. But desire can overcome ability and that isnt the fault of Martin O'Neill - you cant blame him for that. Thats the footballers on the pitch that have to take some responsibilty for poor performances. Its easy to blame the manager - its a cop out

  4. Blaming Heskey for that is completely out of order. No wonder the bloke is so low on confidence when there's people slagging him off every 5 minutes. Like i said, next 2 games i'll put my mortgage on 6 points and it'll all be forgotton and villa talk wont be the glum fest it is now, risso will be no where to be seen and Martin O'Neill will be god again. As fans we have to learn to take the rough with the smooth and maybe concede that West Ham just wanted it more tonight, thats the fault of the 11 on the pitch - not the managers

  5. After the first 20 minutes, which were fine, another piss poor display of "football" from the most overrated and average manager who ever set foot in the Premier League. Heskey on the left wing? Beye at right back instead of Luke Young? Anybody who thinks it takes a special manager to come up with fuckwittery like that wants their head examining.

I think our last 3 premier league finishes makes your comment look foolish.

Stop being such a mug and put defeats into a bit of perspective instead of blaming the manager all the time. We could do a hell of a lot worse. It'll be a wankfest on here if we win the next 3 games. Some people are so fickle

  7. General sorry for butting in but i can just comment on the above post: Barry is impossible to replace....at the moment. There is no one better than him in England in his position that realistically we can sign. We are 7th and if we win the next 3 games (West Ham, Bolton, Burnley) which we can all assume we would expect to get 9 points from...(at worst 7) we will be in top 4 going into December. We are doing just fine. Besides i thought Barry was very very poor against the Blues today. I wish people would stop banging on about him like he was the best player we'd ever had. Yes, great player, great servant - lets move on for gods sake

  8. I am a mad villa fan and have been for 25 years but all these comments make us look jealous man. Let them get on with it and we mind our own business and concentrate on our football side rather than theirs. Far too much typng time is given to them on here as it is. If they have 40 mil good luck to them, some of us are prob just a tiny bit jealous that our owner hasnt come out and said the same thing.....

  9. i actually think for the first time I want MON out

inept performance again from the team

    baffling substitutions

baffling just baffling and i think people are right he is clueless and wont take us where we want to go

    fickle

    so so fickle

we win 5 in a row

we lose one game - a poor performance by the sound of it

    You want the manager out

    Get a grip

  10. i hate all this "doesnt work" cr ap all the time. when brian clough managed you never heard people saying that players "dont work". they need to make it fking work!! if petrov "doesnt work" in a 442 because he cant keep up he needs to get fitter/better/learn to make it work rather us just accpet it as though it is something set in stone. apparently lampard and gerard didnt "work" together, but strangely a manager who knows how to use them best has got them both playing in the same team and looking invincible.

MON doesn't realise how to use them to their full potential, that's the problem. Lampard and gerrard didnt work centrally because they were naive defensively and that's exactly what villa are, naive, without a coker figure ( or dare i say it, a barry figure (for england that is))

I think i trust his tactics and football knowledge above yours in all fairness

Urm, I think you would find the fair share of Villa fans could do a better job tactically than MON. He can do everything else. Heskey now at left mid with milner inside proves my point. It has become comical lol

    Are you taking the Piss?

Out of who? MON, yes. The tactics are purely comical.

Let me guess you have a copy of football manager and took AFC Wimbledon from Blue Square Premier to Champions League in 5 seasons? You must be better than O'Neill. In fact you must be better than anyone we've ever had.....

  13. Going back to the Shorey thing - yes i know he has a decent last few games but there isnt a hope in hell MON is going to start a player he was willing to ship out on loan last week - he is a mediocre - at best - footballer - you play your best side. Just because he has played well it doesnt guarantee your place in the side - and that goes for any sports - ask Adil Rashid (but thats a different matter)
