  1. Kevin Mack is not management material. The poor guy says he hasn't slept for 2 weeks so I genuinely feel sorry for him because it can't be good for his health. As paul pointed out he looks totally depressed with the prospect of getting the nod. Moderator Trent called it correctly recently when he pointed out that coaching & managing require 2 different animals.

The sooner KM gets back to his original role the better for everyone.

  2. Its..... Its...... I can reveal the next manager of Aston Villa, I am ITK (Honest! I swear on my pet goldfish Karl Hungus).....

    ........ It's Carlton Palmer......

I'd prefer your pet gold fish Karl Hungus, he should do well living in the Villa Park fishbowl.

The clocks ticking ginger bonce so you have till midnight tomorrow or Hungus is history!

  3. pay for the 8m randy for jol after todays shocking result

if its mac villa aprk will be empty for the next few seasons. i wont tolerate shitness like today

    Comments like this aren't needed.

I think we should be grateful to Kevin and the staff remaining. They are taking on heavy work schedules so we can take our time looking for a new manager. Half the staff left with O'Neill so we're very short staffed, we pretty much have a couple of coaches while Friedel is a temporary goalkeeping coach. I'm not sure we have a fitness coach right now.

McDonald did not expect this, he's done a fantastic job for years in the reserves and has been thrown in the deep end. He's had to take training for both the senior players and youth with McAndrew and then after deal with constant press conferences, the trip to Vienna whilst scouting opposition. Yeah he **** up today, but he doesn't deserve some of the cheap comments I have seen. We've had injuries to deal with and the players out there deserve a few words if anything. We started the first half well but we conceded and their heads all dropped. It was a pathetic roll over, and barely any of them showed any passion to turn it around, I would have been very disappointed if I went today.

IMO this is the most sensible post that I have read on this thread so far.

The only good thing (if thats possible) about losing 6-0 is that we now know that KM is not management material but we should ALL applaud & acknowledge what a terrific coaching job he has done at the Club for the past 15 years with the kids & the reserves hopefully he can resume those normal duties full time.

Moderator Trent Villa pointed out last week that managers & coaches are 2 separate beasts & it is pretty obvious to all that making the big decisions doesn't sit comfortably with KM so there is no shame in that.

In fairness we could have been 2 goals clear before Newcastle's 1st goal & even at 3-0 down you didn't feel we were completely out of the game. The key here was for KM to give a big team talk to prove his management credentials at half time but whatever was said the players showed no positive reaction or respect to this whatsoever in the 2nd half & we were a complete shambles & can have no complaints with the final score.

The players let us all down today by their complete lack of discipline

& lack of pride. I DO NOT HOLD KM responsible for this.

The most important thing now is that we appoint a BIG NAME MANAGER such as Hiddink, Klinsman, Reykaard, Joachim Loew or Koeman. The loyal Villa faithful deserve no less so please, please DO NOT FOIST ANY OLD MUPPET ONTO US.

The next 10 days will answer a lot of questions & no one can then be under any illusions as to whether we intend to be BIG PLAYERS OR NOT!

  5. Unfortunately we really are all gonna' have to wait until MON's disclosure! Maddening I know, but there you go!

are we? I'm waiting for nothing from MON. Other than an apology  :winkold:

Sorry Jon, but you're gonna have one hell of a long wait in that case because MON is one stubborn son of a gun.

As annoying as this stubborness is, it also made him his own man.

MON's biggest weakness was that he didn't take kindly to criticim, but then again WHO DOES?

  6. You have found the positive here to defend the man Baz because as you state "perhaps we don't know the full facts". People have been hung for less!

Unfortunately we really are all gonna' have to wait until MON's disclosure! Maddening I know, but there you go!

  7. That's EXACTLY what I intend to do!

How long do you intend to wait before suspecting that he doesn't have a justified excuse? He can't leave us hanging, forever thinking that he might have had a decent reason.

Brian, firstly, without knowing the full facts I'm not suspecting anything other than his own personal reasons were justifiable to himself. It may even prove overtime if we completely self implode that his silence speaks for itself. Hopefully this scenario doesn't come to pass.

Secondly, he can leave us in suspense for as long as he sees fit because ultimately that is HIS prerogative.

Finally, & this is the most important bit, MON has left Villa Park so everyone needs to MOVE ON. I did, literally 30 seconds after hearing the news. Yes we can & will no doubt all continue to debate the what ifs & the maybe's because it is an appealing current theme & part of human nature but in reality everything now becomes purely hypothetical & therefore pointless other than for the cathartic element of releasing repressed emotions.

The only thing that can't be denied is MON's track record at Villa Park because that is FACT & it speaks for itself. That is his legacy & it would be churlish to claim otherwise.

Aston Villa are bigger than all of us & will carry on regardless. We have a glorious past, may or may not be in limbo at the present time dependent upon personal opinion & hopefully we will enjoy a glorious future too.

    Here's hoping. Up the Villa!

  8. I think it's important to re-iterate that this is in no way an anti-MON article. It even points out that we need to wait for his side of the story before properly making our minds up.
That's EXACTLY what I intend to do!
  9. Suppose he's a gem that our scouts have been watching for sometime and identified? you never know, you do reaise that if two of our wingers get injured we only have 1 in Albrighton right? Get out of MON mode people, the game is about options and rotation!

Doubt it very much. We won't be signing anyone until the manager comes in. Ireland is obviously different, but this is a whole unique situation.

What if the new Manager has already come in??

  10. I want to be shocked by our next managerial appointment but in a big, big way because we appoint a big, big man. I don't want any muppets at Villa Park thank you very much. That would be sooooooo disappointing. MON love him or hate him brought great excitement to Villa Park when he arrived. We want the same this time too. Fans clamouring to Villa Park delirious with joy.

    Please Stun me Randy BIGTIME!

    Muppets need not apply!

But... a big, big man could turn out to be a muppet. It's not mutually exclusive. How Barca laughed when a 'muppet' their ex-translator, was given his first coaching job. Mourinho hasn't done too badly since, I'd say.

And for all the excitement over MON, well, in the end he was no better than above average really, wasn't he? When he was meant to be the messiah, the biggest 'name' available at the time.

Manager hunts are a crap shoot. I'll just back whoever we choose, even if it's someone I can't stand the sight of (Sven) or someone irredeemably crap (Curbishley, Southgate).

You make some excellent points but overall a big big man normally does do the job at Villa Park for a time. Graham Taylor, Big Fat Ron & yes MON to name a few. We are in a really solid position at the moment thanks to Martin & how we would have progressed with him still here is purely now hypothetical. Ferguson needed 3 years to turn Man U round so no one really knows now what Martin would have eventually achieved either way.

Like you I will back one million per cent whoever finally nails the job but I just feel a big name gives or more chance of success.

Your point about Mourinho is valid but in percentage terms such success happens very rarely & is the stuff of legends. We have had enough Muppets at Villa Park, Turner, McNeil, Dr Jo, DOL, etc etc to last a life time & that's why I don't want to go down that route ever again.
