  1. MoN was average and has been most of his career. If MoN stated he wanted to come back would anyone honestly have him back over Lambert. His football was dire, boring rubbish and required no tactics. Absolute crap. Three 6th places don't win you anything and it was horrible to watch, I would rather Lambert who is willing to try different things than watch the garbage Martin O Neill dealt out.

  2. I hope he stays here long enough to make us successful. Top class manager who, I fear, will leave us for bigger and better things

While I do admit I fear this, if he was such a big success I dont see where he could go? Dont think the two Manchester clubs would go for him, nor Chelsea or Arsenal, so really there is only Spurs & Liverpool. I'd like to think that both of those are on a downward spiral at the moment and we are the opposite. I'll tell you what with the inconsistency in this league and the last two performances we could definitely challenge for the top 6 this year.

Downward Spiral? perfect reason for him to move.

We were hardly on the way up when he arrived.

Anyway let's just enjoy the moments we have at the moment :D

Fair point but Spurs seem to look for more of a continental approach and I'm certain PL would not like the set up of buying players at Spurs. With the owners at Liverpool I don't think they are attractive for him. Also, Villa are potentially a huge club, it would be tough to say the same for Norwich.

Plus why would a manager want to keep moving to clubs on a downward spiral. At sometime they want to win things and we are as good a bet as Spuds and Plop outside the top 4 to have a crack.

  3. If I was playing for Villa and the likes of Man City came calling you would have to presume I was pretty good. I would stay at Villa and that alone would attract other big names to the club and we would eventually win the league.

And yes I have lay awake at night thinking about this. :winkold:

How about if you were playing for Everton and Man City came calling?

A number of people wouldn't leave the club they love but if it wasn't a club you love most players would take the massive pay rise and chance to win the league.

    Rooney supports Everton, he left.

  4. You really don't get it do you? It's all well and good saying "it's only one wage". But you're talking forty thousand pounds a week. No, it wouldn't make it unsustainable, but two or three of those "it's only one wage" packets and we're right back to square one. The year of hell we've just had to endure truly was for nothing.

Not really. The problem with MoN is that everyone was on high wages.

We've bought in replacements on lower wages, i don't think its going to bankrupt us if worst case scenario meant we had 2 or 3 players sitting in the stands till we can try again to sell them in january or next summer.

And after last year is it really worth the risk of premiership survival to not bring in some top players? Also if the worst case scenario did happen and we were left with 2 or 3 would our new kit and sponsership deal not help cover that? The chances of finishing higher in the league would increase with new players so would the money from that not cover it?

I'm not demanding that every transfer window Lerner should be out there blowing loads of cash and not worrying. But for this window, after last season i think there may be times when we need to take a bit of a financial risk, nothing thats going to ruin the club though.

We can't afford to have 2 or 3 players on 40 to 50 thou a week sitting in the stands. That is equal to 4 or 5 young up and coming players being in the squad. We have to be lean and mean now.

  5. As I said, I haven't seen anything official and it does seem unlikely to me.

The OP isn't a Troll either and we're asking him where he got this info.

Cheers for keeping us informed anyway. what do you make of Hughton? Good shout imo!

Very pleased but wish we didn't have to do it.

Hughton is a good shout, he will do well for you.

  6. My dad is saying something is going to happen tonight with Martinez. All we can do is wait and see.

I hope your dad is right because I think that Martinez would be great for Villa. However, I have the feeling that your dad is pulling your plonker.

Tbh I don't even believe him - but i'll pass on the information from his "source" nonetheless.

You don't believe your own Dad. :P

  7. Shock horror, Villa players are normal guy's who like to have a drink!

FFS As long as it's after a game then why would you deny them what most of us do regularly?

EVERY club has players who like to go out and enjoy themselves Villa players will be no different, if you can stay in every night, not drink, be in bed for 9pm etc then maybe you can criticise them but if you don't yourself then how can you expect someone else to live by rules that you don't follow, footballer or not? Live and let live.

Of course your right, lets pay these idiots 30 or 40 thou a week to watch them play crap football, and when their not doing that, lets watch them be utter prats in public and behaving like up themselves rocket polishers. Whilst ordinary folk save their money to buy a season ticket to watch these prats play a game they think their good at. If I do a crap job I'll get sacked these spoilt rocket polishers become millionaires.

  8. Who are these alleged troublemakers in the team? Please support your accusation with evidence.

Pisshead Collins, & Dunne, Cowans incident.

Pisshead Collins outside club with Herd.

Players disagreeing with managerial decision or falling out with manager. Warnock, Dunne.

Players being oh so precious, Ireland, Brum is a dump, to gobby.

Probably a few more we don't know about.

Average to crap players thinking their something their not.

  9. We do not have the players to turn around such a run

And you'd have said Wigan did before they did it? I wouldn't have.

Nope but Wigan dont have any bad eggs in their side and want to play for the manager we have players who love to get pissed and don't care what happens to the club

If Martinez were to take control would he be able to do much more than McLeish did in regards to these players. He does not look like the disciplinarian type

The fans should let it be known that they support the manager, and show the troublemakers in the team where their at. It's about time we got behind the manager, who ever it is.

  10. For me it was...

    Solskjaer, first choice. Gone.

    Lambert, second choice. Gone.

    Martinez, third choice. Going.

    Villas-Boas, fourth choice. No chance.

    Now... Erm.. :-/

The above list is okay, but style of football and how you play the game the bottom list is equal to the top one.

With the above not available a few other alternatives are,

    Gus Poyet

    Roberto DiMatteo

    Paolo Di Canio

Karl Robinson ( this bloke if you want to take a gamble)

    Curbishley

  11. Not one to plug bookies, but why has Rafa came away in on the betting over the past 15mins. Was 36/1 now into 14/1 on Betfair
    Please please please please please.

Yep, would be my #1 choice also.

Problem is he would want £20-30m to spend (saying that, whoever is appointed will need that...but wont get it).

It's going to be fantastic if FSW gets the job, especially when we play Plop and he joins in with, You'll never walk alone with the rest of the bindippers. If you thought Houllier was bad when we played them this bloke will be a lot worse.

  12. AVB is slightly more likely than the Ancelotti fiasco, as he does not require a massive wage package nor, as some people seem to believe, a large transfer budget (30m+). It'd be a fantastic move since every spastic around thinks he's this monumental failure.

Just to put the naysayers in their place and their AVB WILL NEVER COME HE DEMANDS CL FOOTBALL AND 8 MIL PER YEAR (you really have no clue the type of manager he is), I definitely think the guy is after a job that will give him security and longevity rather than another high pressure one season to prove himself, I highly doubt it will be with us though, unfortunately.

I think his pride has been dented and he has a point to prove, we would be as good as any other football club for him to turn things around. If anything I would think we are prime candidates.

  13. Anyone else like the idea of a consortium of British businessmen with some football acumen launching a takeover bid?

Is Ray Ranson still at Coventry? (I thought maybe he'd left?)

Maybe if Lerner is offered a way out of this mess, he'd take it?

QIA might be pie in the sky, but a locally based bid might do the trick...

Ray Ranson who was part of the crew that have **** up coventry and apparently are looking to now asset strip the club and put it into liquidation.

    This bloke is a hero.
