When the initial stalking started to take place the police would not entertain the idea of a restraining order and was told not not so many words that he would have to do something first before they would action this!!

Obviously ,right now he is in custody but for the future who knows , he has protection from the law or so it seems to do whatever he pleases.

    Really sorry to hear this.

I know nothing of the law, but maybe some here would know if a restraining order my be an interim measure? It doesn't solve the problem, but if it's breached, could it not be considered an aggrivating factor in terms of sentencing? If so, might get that POS put away for longer. I can't see him doing well in jail if I'm honest.

Is there any way she could get the Spanish embassy or similar involved?

I'm sure, it's an interesting idea , I guess time is a factor and the fact she may be concerned it may get back to her patents who are in Spain. Her father is also unwell and she fears the worst if he found out

Horrifying situation. How was she drugged exactly, during the second incident?

What was the nature of their relationship prior to the first incident?

Do immigrants get short shrift in the  British legal system?

I can't remember for sure, she was either injected or she drank something but they confirmed it was the date rape drug administratored.

The horrifying part is she now remembers everything, everything he did while she lay there helpless.   She has not been able to open up fully about the things he did but from what she told me it's harrowing

She was a maid/waitress in a Novotel in London the rapist was a manager in there.

She said she met him no more than twice and in was only being introduced.

I should also add, that the hotel withheld CCTV if him standing outside of her room that 1st night for about 2 hours before he forced his way in.

He apparently tried the nice approach first when she refused and told him to get out he attacked her, beat her , hand cuffed her tortured her and did sexual things to her but didn't rape... That happened the 2nd time.

Her lawyer also pointed out that the brother is not "on " the case so not to be concerned ?!?!

    It's ridiculous bordering crazy

Just to add, as mentioned previously , she didn't know fully what had happened to her, she found out that she was actually raped  BY EMAIL " STATING AS SUCH !!

no phone call, no compassion or sympathy

Well thoughout the stalking timeline she reported everything she could including underwear being sent to her and all of the times he showed up. Even at a friend's house she stayed at.  My concern is with this evedence being hidden or lost. She also was told on Sunday that apparently the 300+ hours footage of him outside her property can not be used as it was not taken legally by the landlord.  This is a cover up if ever I saw one.

I don’t know a lot - I’ve only partly studied some areas (I did look at finishing a law degree but never did) and others will know a lot more. I’m just giving the best I can do based on legal routes as civilians - you have more rights than you realise and you’ll be listened to and it will be investigated (doesn’t mean it will come out in your favour, that’s why it’s important to do as much leg work as you can) - detail is important .

    This is really so sad.

Get onto the Police Complaints Commission, and also request a change of force due to conflict of interest as the first steps.

Also reach out to the local police and crime commissioner at the same time and explain the above (and the steps you have taken so far) and that there is a conflict of interest and a concern for the safety of the young lady - and that concerns have been ignored, and that you feel there are serious errors with the previous judgement made on the rape.

Thank you, I will definitely look into this.

Do you know if I'm allowed to do this on her behalf, as I'm only a friend and collegue ?

I can't really offer any advice on this awful series of events, but has she spoken to any rape crisis charities? They will know the process and able to offer guidance/advice on how to progress it and seek justice.

    https://rapecrisis.org.uk/

She has tried to contact one but they are booked up apparently until February.

She definitely needs advise for her state of mind . It's all so much for her right now.

She has also refrained from telling many people for the shame she feels. Including her family.

I know it may sound like a controversial opinion, but some would say that selling Emi and replacing him with Bono would actually be an elevation for the club…

    U2 ?

    I'm not so sure.
