He'd give us options - Emile - as lovely a bloke as he is - doesn't!
Emile gives the team great options. He has the orange flavour, mint, and regular.
All the other players say he makes great hot chocolate.

If sunderland have £8m in their pocket surely we should hold out for more?
I wouldn't want to risk them calling our bluff and looking elsewhere. Take the money, and run.... fast.

What was the formation Hughes was using when Ireland was at his peak form? He doesn't seem suited to the 4-4-2 Mancini brought in last year.
-
However, I just can't see where he'd fit if we signed Ireland.
A little thing called rotation, though I grant you it's understandable as a fellow Villa fan, you wouldn't have heard that term recently.
Either way, wouldn't we have Delph available in that kind of area, when he's fit anyway?

Sven's a chequebook manager. I doubt in his ability to create a succesful team without huge resources.
-
I love the BBC comment that Southgate was "unluckily sacked", even though he had just got a relatively stable Premiership side relegated.
-
Easy.
Unfinished business in England and the Premier League. A vacant job for a top 6 club that have finished there three years on the trot. Looking someone to brighten up their play and push them on. Only a man with unfinished business and the talent can do that. He's the man for the job
Decent enough players in the squad and I'm sure he'll get some funds to bring in players before the deadline.
Bringing in his own players means Timothee Atouba... he loves him.

This could easily be Ferguson's last season, Moyes would be best holding on at Everton for another year, regardless of who else comes along.
Even then, Everton > Villa would be a pointless sidewards step.

At the moment, there is only one candidate that would keep me happy and that's Martin Jol.
99% I feel exactly the same.
The other 1% is for the comedy gold that would be Maradona.

Klinsmann got sacked from Bayern for being a nutjob didn't he? Tried to transform the training systems, and the players couldn't stand him.
Eriksson delivered the title to Lazio, but only on the back of huge financial investment that ultimately crippled the club. Without funds, I doubt in Sven's ability to deliver. So that's a 'thank you for the offer mr banker, but no deal" from me.

With a group of very similar managers (in stature) couldn't someone start a poll on this site (with no comments required) on who they'd LIKE to come to Villa - including all the current forerunners.
Say, Bradley, Sven, Curbs, Jol, Hughes, Southgate, Pearce and any of the other realistic names we've been linked to.
It'd be interesting to see who the fans want.
- Sven's a chequebook manager
- Bradley, Bilic, Pearce etc are blind shots in the dark if appointed.
- Curbs is a media myth, Charlton and West Ham shouldn't be enough to get a job at a top 8 club.
- Southgate - 1 club, 1 relegation.
- Mowbray - lol, looked out of his depth in prem.
- Hughes - wouldn't leave, would be too expensive to compensate Fulham anyway.
- Jol, is the only candidate with Upper Premier League experience. I guess the only obstacle if we want him is compensating Ajax.
- Coyle's achievments are about the same as Phil Browns, and nobody wants him... surely?!
Surely Jol is the only optimistic appointment?! All others make me feel sick at the prospect.

One of the things that annoys me most about this Milner situation is, that only about 6-8 months ago Milner was singing MON and Villa's praises. He was basically saying how playing for a settled club with a settled manager, not a manager conveyor belt like at Newcastle, was improving his game. Now 6 months down the line, Man City wave a wad of cash at him and those thoughts leave his mind, the manager conveyor belt won't be a problem for him anymore, because let's face it Mancini will probably be fired by Christmas if they don't look like getting Champs League.
Footballers eh, imo you can't believe a word that comes out of their mouths.
Totally agree and thats how the Villa management feel !
Quite right.
Once again, this makes good reading. Time flies I guess.

Chimbonda-Dawson-King-Bale
Hughes-Mellberg-Laursen-Bouma
If that's the current first 4 defenders at the present time i'd take
Chimbonda-Mellberg-King-Bouma.
Seems pretty balanced at the minute if you ask me but i'd like to look again as soon as we get a right back in.
-
I know they say aim high but I don't think we're yet in the position to compete for the likes of Bale, especially for squad cover. I also don't think many of those players named would be at all available... Cahill, Jenas, Parker.
Yes we have a considerable amount of money but as yet we can't compete in terms of European football or recent Premiership positions. I can only see some smaller name targets coming in to push us into a position where we can compete for better players.
Also I think Bent will go to Spurs to replace Defoe, who could possibly on his way to us.
-
I would have thought Defoe is more of a long shot now considering his recent run of goalscoring form.
I'd love SWP but I'm sure West Ham are favourites at the minute seen as making the short trip across London perhaps on loan would suit most parties. (except us)
Also haven't Newcastle said Milner won't be leaving?
Confirmed: Houllier is the new Villa manager

Bob Bradley's credentials of 'topping the world cup group' ain't that great. Until Landon Donovan popped up in the last game, they were 30seconds from going home. I mean, what sort of team of mickey mouse jokers struggle to beat Algeria?!
