Vaclav Drobny was capped two times for his country.

Vaclav Drobny was briefly on Aston Villa's books.

FORMER CZECH REPUBLIC and Strasbourg defender Vaclav Drobny died in a sledding accident, in the early hours of this morning, at the age of 32, Czech media said.

Drobny, who played twice for the Czech Republic, skidded off a piste and crashed into a tree in the Czech winter resort of Spindleruv Mlyn, some 140 kilometres northeast of Prague.

“The accident occurred shortly after 2:00am… despite the physicians’ efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries early in the morning,” said a report on the local police website.

Drobny was the captain of the Czech Republic’s under-21 team that won the European Championships in 2002.

Made made his senior debut against Japan but failed to make the Czech squad for Euro 2004.

After the tournament, Drobny moved from the Czech top league to Strasbourg for which he played 42 games before being loaned to Aston Villa, but he never played for the Birmingham side.

He then moved to Sparta Prague with whom he won the Czech league title in 2007 before switching to play in a Prague regional league.

    Rest in peace.

  2. We all criticise o'neill. But his team would have never lost this game

Have you forgotten what happend last year?

Anyway, it's not MacDonalds fault that we got a squad full of shit players. His tactics doesnt seem to work at all though.

  3. I don't understand why you think we should go back to that?

do we stick with the 4-5-1 that we beat one of the title contenders with or switch back to 4-4-2 to give us more attacking options?

It's a close call I agree but MON would get slaughtered if we went out tomorrow playing 1 up front for being too negative. But then I suppose he'd get slaughtered if we lose no matter what. I suppose if Ash and Milner push up a lot there's no harm in it. We're only 1 down.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I actually think we get more attacking options with 1 striker and 2 very attacking wingers. Gabby for instance works much better as a lone striker (for some reason). It would just seem a bit strange to me to change the tactic that we used to score 3 goals against Liverpool.

  4. What would people do formation wise tomorrow?

We've found 4-5-1 works best but we're 1-0 down against inferior opposition at home so... do we stick with the 4-5-1 that we beat one of the title contenders with or switch back to 4-4-2 to give us more attacking options?

Tough choice for me, I'm not sure. I think probably go back to 4-4-2 for this one BUT ONLY THIS ONE and then straight back to 4-5-1.

4-4-2 is clearly not working for us, I don't understand why you think we should go back to that?

We need to score goals. We score more goals with 4-5-1. Can not see any reason at all why we should play 4-4-2 again to be honest.

  5. Certainly better than Saturday.

It wasn't in my opinion, if not worse atleast the same shitty performance as the Wigan game. It may have looked a bit better at times but we were playing a much worse team tonight.

    Guzan - 6 - Looks solid.

Beye - 4 - Still not impressing me, and I don't think he will in the future either. Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Davies - 3 - Don't know if it's his shoulder injury that causes it, but he really is awfull at the moment. We desperatly need one or two new CBs.

    Cuellar - 4 - Average at best.

Shorey - 6 - I thought he had a very good game until the last half hour or so when he just didn't looked focused enough.

NRC - 4 - Not easy to be a CM in a team that only hoofs balls to the opposing defence.

Sidwell - 4 - Invisible, but same problem as above.

Gardner - 3 - He plays worse everytime I see him. Should play more simple and try to use his cannon of a shot more often.

Milner - 6 - Worked very hard as always but struggled to create anything.

Young - 5 - Same as Milner minus the workrate. Got better in the second half though.

Heskey - 3 - It can't be easy being a lone striker in this team at the moment, I'll give him that. But when the chances get to him he always seems to screw up one way or another. Terrible first touch on the ball tonight, and stop falling over 1000 times every game damn it!!

My Man of the Match goes to Milner. Even if he didn't have one of his best games today he tried and tried. Never stopped working and did a good job defensivly taking advantage of his strength.

We're going to get raped by Liverpool if we play like this.
