  1. So....I've got a new job which will involve a commute by train. We will therefore only need to be a one car family.

The plan is both the Freelander (lovely car but expensive and gassy as ****) and the A1 (wonderful wonderful little car but too **** small for a family of four) will both be going.

That leaves me with about £25k to play with... I will never own a people carrier but I'd like the suggestions from the VT community. Its got to be reasonably efficient and ideally an estate...

    GO!!

Lexus 450h all the way, if your Mrs is the main driver she'll love it

  2. There was a lot of interesting chatter about QPR and the impact promotion will have on them on the latest Football Weekly Podcast. Basically how going up could be terrible for them as they have a very expensive, but relatively crap squad and a potential £50m hole in the balance sheet with the FFP penalty (they can keep appealing but it will have to be paid at some point). It will be extremely interesting to see what happens to them next year, there is already a lot of speculation about them signing Rio which indicates lessons haven't been learned at Loftus Road.

I read earlier that they want to sign Joe Cole, Cashley, Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard. Utter madness.

I saw that as well (well, not Cashley, but the other 3). Wouldn't surprise me!

He said the same stuff when he took over at QPR

Stuff like clubs shouldn't sign players on big wages when they have such small stadiums.

Then he went and signed Chris Samba on 100k a week

Not that that's his fault of course. He knew nothing about it.

The Samba transfer was dodgy... Anzi couldn't wait to sell... got £12m... then few months later by him back for the same amount!

Yes, I bet Tony went over there with a suitcase full of cash!

  3. It's unlikely this has been known about by any of the wider management team until now. The fact these two have been suspended and not sacked suggests the allegations are sufficiently serious to warrant further investigation until the full facts can be proven, at which point it can be decided whether it's gross misconduct. If it's later proven Lambert knew about it then he's right up the creek without a paddle !

  4. Ive been doing it for a few years now. Started with 2 or 3 miles, progressed to 10k and then on to half marathon. Due to knee pain i switched to triathlon to reduce running distance and improve overall fitness. I still run 10k distance as part of that, so im 3 or 4 3-5 Mile interval runs a week at around 7-8 Mins/mile. Best 10k time is 41'59.

  5. Completely agree. Some things that really grate...

Throwins ALWAYS go to the opposition

Goal kicks ALWAYS aim for Benteke who gets surrounded by 3/4 men

We have no clue how to break down teams that sit back

How Bennett still gets in the starting 11

  6. wouldn't it be mental if hutton takes to la liga like a fish to water, end up playing for barca or real madrid a few years down the line, just cant hack it in the prem :P

Yeah, I hope we've inserted a sell on clause lol

  7. it's been a weakness for long before lambert tbh

something is wrong on the training ground at villa. it's not our managers, it can't be

does anyone know if the coaching staff has been retained from the mon days, or if they're all cleared out when a new manager comes in? im not talking about the really important guys like assistant managers or head coaches, but the rest of the staff? because we have the same issues whoever the manager is, regardless of how often we change, and that suggests to me that the problem goes deeper than the guy in the manager's seat

Agree, but there is a management TEAM at villa. Lambert is responsible ultimately, and he's clearly not ensuring it's worked on effectively in training. That and he believes he can keep picking players up and motivating them , regardless of the run of shocking results they've been on. There comes a point where players are not going to listen because things never get better for them, and this is the cycle they are in now. Something has to change - players / Lambert / coaches / sports psychologists /new players because this team IS going down unless it does
