  1. He’s so much like Gabby.  If they have to think about it, take a second touch, then the chance has gone.  Don’t think about it and it’s in the net.  What I would give to have Gary Shaw alongside him though!  Now he could finish

  2. Ty does get some bad press.  He’s the best of what we currently have at our disposal.  Never been disrespectful of the Club, unlike some…Martinez, and gives it is all.  He was very influential in getting us back up and that should not be forgotten whatever happens.

Irrespective of whether what he is saying is true or not, I like this attitude...

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins to Sky Sports: "It was not good enough from us collectively as a team.

"Don't get me wrong, they are world-class players but we were too soft, me especially when Rodri ran past me for that goal. I should have made the second block and I feel I let us down today.

"Against City you cannot give away easy goals. The first was from a set-piece and then it is hard to get back into the game."

On what Unai Emery said at half-time: "He told us that if you make a mistake, own it and don’t look at anyone else. We have to learn from this."

I really do admire his honesty.  Still think Ollie has something about him.  Gary Shaw he ain’t, but I’d like to see him with Duran for a run of games.

Agreed, I'd rather have a non-World Cup winning keeper who only has ambition to play mid-table PL football myself.

That’s not my point.  He wins the Copa and World Cup and now he’s too big for us?  How about seeing the journey out and maybe just getting there with us?  He’s out of order being disrespectful to the Villa.

He thinks he's a lot better than he is.

Maybe everyone brown nosing him after the WC will start to remember this now ;)

Agree Tom13, but once again it’s ok for him to disrespect the Club, but supporters can’t comment back?

  6. I really hope so mate.  He reminds me so much of Graham Taylor Mk1.  Really think this is last chance saloon.  If we don’t back him then it’s game over for getting into to top 4/6.

  7. So are we saying it’s ok to be disrespectful to us with the comments made?  Shall we let all of the first 11 be disrespectful without any comeback?  If he thinks he’s bigger than the club then it’s bye bye from me.

  8. Not convinced he will get the money to be honest.  I certainly wouldn’t trust Lange as far as I can throw him and that ain’t very far!  We need a minimum 7 in the first 11.  If Unai smells he’s been sold a lemon then he will walk.  He won’t see his stock drop here.

  9. I agree maqroll horrible first touch.  I would go as far as to say he couldn’t trap a bag of cement of hit a cow’s behind with a banjo!  A 1 in 5/6 performer and not good enough.

  10. Another one who thinks he’s too big for the Club!  I’m sick to the back teeth of the likes of Martinez who think they are above us!  Let him join his mate at PSG.  How many Champions Leagues have the won Emi?  Get rid at the best price possible!!!

  11. My take is that he’s lost the dressing room and they are playing him out.  Players are not having Gerrard and Critchley which is always going to end badly. Now if it is a battle of wills players generally win.  This won’t last 10 games as the owners will have little choice but to get rid!!!

  12. Given the numerous discussions about the need for a 6, 8 or 10, in the middle of the park, what defines this type of player?  Given some of the great midfielders who have worn the shirt, what would they be classed as, in 6, 8 or 10 terms…70,s onwards?

  13. Hindsight is a wonderful thing , but the pre-season cost us massively.  It all appeared too casual with Grealish circus taking centre stage.  Barbecues and training in London just so a deal could get done!  Poorly prepared pre-seasons are neither good for man nor dog and has cost us big time.  We need next seasons to be full on with no distractions.  If Gerrard can’t deliver after that then it’s goodbye!

  14. I always want every Villa Manager to succeed, even McLeish, because  I want my club challenging for everything.  However we know some appointments will have a greater chance than others.  I genuinely thought Lambert could take us places, alas he was out of his depth.  This one is going to end with Gerrard at Plop or Tranmere, probably more likely to be England if he fails here.  I really don’t think he’s shown enough, but I thought that after Brian Little’s first half a season in charge.

  15. I’m in the not convinced camp!  We should have set the bar higher.  However I still see similarities to Brian Little’s appointment when we just about stayed up in his first half a season.  Players had it to comfortable under Big Ron, a Villa Fan, and Brian needed a pre-season and his own players to embed his style.  Remember he got rid of a lot of decent players, including Dean Saunders, who did not fit the way he wanted to play.  Next season, League Cup winners, FA Cup Semi and a 4th finish.  Did the current squad have it to easy under Dean Smith?  Are they not capable of adapting to a new style?  I believe we will find out very shortly on who stays and who goes!!!
