  1. My favourite player, top class attitude and obviously a top class keeper. The interview reflects his drive and determination to help get us to the top.

    No.

Why give them a slim chance to lord it over us, we should never have to play the likes of these scum ever again.

I’m with you on this. Horrid club, horrid fans and a sh*t hole of a ground.I for one never want to play them again. Happy to laugh at them from afar tho 😃

Yes Graham Taylor broke the mould by selecting players from unfashionable clubs but unfortunately he failed as well.

I think we know that the answer lies somewhere in between the two. Either way, players should not be pressured into going to fashionable clubs in order to get selected.

you can argue that he's going to actively encourage players to leave for bigger clubs by hardly giving grealish a sniff whilst he played for villa and will now finally make him a first team regular and building the team around man citys jack grealish

how do you think mings feels about being dropped for man utds harry maguire in the euros? do you think that he thinks "if i played for liverpool i wouldnt have been dropped" and therefore if liverpool / utd / man city / chelsea come calling he will actively seek a move? or forget mings and insert a.n.other english villa player

he really is the same as so many english managers of the past

This has been a problem with England for as long as I can remember (going back to the late 70s). We had players like Brian Little, Gordon Cowans, Gary Shaw, I could go on. They barely got a sniff because they played for Villa. You can call me unpatriotic but I really don’t have much time for the England team as a result 😡

A betting site just tweeted this, I won’t link it as I don’t really like advertising betting personally, but thought it was an interesting fact.

Anyone know who the one is? It took me a few mins but I got it I think

In theory I'd very much like this to be the case, I just worry with a short preseason and shortened season because of the world cup next year, that settled teams who know each other inside out may have an advantage this year especially.

Yes, we’re not at the point where one or two additions are enough. It’s bloody tough as we need to balance recruitment with progress.

As long as its real progression.  One or two places higher isn't real progress, especially when you consider the money we've spent.

I share your sentiments. Deano will come under some pressure if we don’t progress. Our owners are not messing around.

With regards to more incomings, I'm not too sure that there'll be many more. This is nothing to do with how much we have to spend, but more to do with how many players we're going to integrate at once into the first XI.

In my opinion Bailey, Ings, and Buendia will be included in that, along with Sanson once he's fully recovered from his injury. If we had JWP as well there's a chance up to half of our outfield team are going to have no relationships on the field.

Just wonder if we're going to keep our powder dry until the winter transfer window depending on how we're doing.

The winter window seems to be tougher every year. I think we may still try to bring one or two in before the end of August.

With a 1 year option on top also.

Why on earth would he have done that, madness.

He thinks he’ll still make it there. Been there since a youth so understandable…

  10. Top half/Europe and a cup run must be the aim. Progression is key, if we don’t the one or two of our better players will get restless and the right level of recruitment will be tougher next year. I’m hopeful so onwards and upwards.

He is extremely highly rated by our coaches, I'm sure I read somewhere that they rate him amongst the best young goalkeepers in Europe.

    Time will tell I suppose.

We seem intent on developing our youth so hope this fella progresses 🤞

Not sure if I mind that tbh

I think he's a good gap filler for the season, comes in under ty and konsa, suggests to me that we have no one in our youth set up ready (we don't) or that the scouts couldnt find any better or more sensible, next summer if the attack and midfield is looking good then we can try and go for someone over ty and konsa but that'll take some serious scouting and money

The loan deal gives us time to reassess it next summer based on where we are and who is available

We've effectively strengthened the defence this summer without actually changing it dramatically

Yes with no one coming through the youth this loan bridges a gap. If he does well and manure are willing to sell then all good.

Unless they're planning on moving on Lindelof or Bailly (Both have contracts til 2024, Bailly's signed just 4 months ago), there's no chance of that actually happening.

But he's a popular youth product with Utd fans, so they're not exactly gonna say "We're putting him in the shop window because he never plays for us".

He’d still be a bs up there. Ultimately he’d be available at the right price..
