brendan rogers 'shuffled his pack' from spurs and they look fresh. We didn't - hence Petrov and Clark being way off the pace.
-
The key to this performance and to us as a team is that we just don't have enough good footballers.
It's as simple as that.
So many have an embarrassing lack of touch or ability on the ball.
-
we beat chelsea too days ago, look jaded and haven't played well.
but the most depressing thing today is the fan's reaction on here - it's shameful.
-
I think the team do look a bit tired. Things have not been helped by Warnock who has been simply awful and Gabby is wasted being played out on the right.
Bring Albrighton on for N'Zogbia, put Gabby out left and have a word with Warnock and remind him that we have a left back coming ready to take his place if he doesn't up his game massively. If we do that we will go on to win.
Have to disagree. Nzogbia looks like he could create something from nothing, although it's not been his day thus far. Bent has to go, he's not fit and Gabby can play up top.
-
Yes, Warnock's been poor. But Dyer's been sensational.
Don't forget that Gabby on his day has made some good full-backs look dreadful.
-
As the half has progressed, we've got nervous and stopped playing our football - becoming too desperate for some reason.
Warnock's early error was a disaster for us mentally and they've passed it really well. Could easily be two down with the Graham chances.
Dyer's been sensational for them, as has Orlandi. The worry is that they seem far more comfortable in possession than we do.
The midfield, as it is, is simply too withdrawn - Clark doesn't want to pass it forwards, he's clearly out of position and Petrov is too deep too when they have the ball.
The result is that, despite Ireland, we still seem to have a massive gap between the back four and Bent.
Unfortunately there's been a lack of passing quality from us, Nzogbia is trying but needs to look up more and unfortunately Bent just doesn't look fit to me.
It's got to be Gabby up top, Bent off for Albrighton, Bannan or Gardner.
-
been destroyed this afternoon - and that's not even mentioning his dreadful error. Dyer has played exceptionally well though, to be fair.
-
credit to dunne - raiding down the left wing then chasing all the way back there to win a goal kick for us.
-
we're playing quite well and quite creative around the box.
just one error and need to be careful of them on the break.
-
**** off Villa
We've started well.
Errors happen.
SUPPORT the team.
-
wow nearly two! great game in prospect now
-
good from zog down the left - decent start bar the horror show from warnock
-
lovely ball in from ireland to benty
keep calm
-
Deary me - decent start and just a horrendous error from Warnock.
-
richard dunne - you are not messi - silly boy!
-
very bright start in the first minute down the right. swansea pass it well - should be a good game.
petrov will do well to last the pace.
-
I'd like to see Heskey off for Bannan at HT. There's no cohesion between the midfield and attack when he plays.
this is where, unfortunately, an agenda before a game (to come out with the same old Heskey rubbish) makes people look foolish.
Heskey's clearly been our best player tonight, HAS linked the midfield and attack more than anyone, and he's also hit the post. Working very hard and definitely having as big an influence on the game as anyone.
-
if bent is fit, we do need him poaching something, so I'd personally drop albrighton. gabby, zog and bent up top, petrov, clark and ireland in midfield.
-
Team should be:
----------------------Guzan-------------------------
--Cuellar--------Collins----Dunne-----Warnock---
----------------Petrov-------Clark-------------------
----------------------Ireland--------------------------
-----Nzogbia-----------Bent---------------Gabby----
with Albrighton on the bench
-
We were good first half, poor second.
Bent should've got a couple
Backs to the walls near the end because we stopped passing the ball and started hoofing / inviting pressure.
Bolton are going down.
-
This team will actually win games. Shame we'll never play it.
------------------------------Guzan------------------------------------
----Herd------------Cuellar-----------Dunne---------Warnock------
-------------------------------Clark------------------------------------
-------------------------Petrov------Ireland---------------------------
--------Zog-------------------Bent-------------------Gabby-----------

A little anecdote that says an awful lot:
My dad doesn't really like football, watch football or know much about it - but when Villa are on, he switches on his Sky Sports (which he has for other sports like fishing!) and has a watch to see how they're getting on for me. I spoke to him on the phone this morning and he said that after half an hour, he turned it off because it seemed like every time we got the ball we just 'kicked it up the other end to the man utd players' and 'didn't pass it to one another'. He said that he doesn't 'know anything about football really but it wasn't the villa [he] remembers'.
I told him that he wasn't wrong.
The thing is, with Keegan, Barnes and my Dad knowing something is badly wrong, it's clearly not just a case of deluded fans expecting too much.
Quite clearly it's not going to end well - so why prolong the agony - if it's because we can't afford McLeish's pay off, we really are in a bad way. I suggest banners next home game.
-
Barcelona are on telly right now. Always nice to have a second team that are a football team.
-
I am not going to watch my BELOVED Aston Villa until McLeish is gone.

we've put in more poor performances this season than in any I can remember.
it's sad.
our club is going down the pan right before our eyes.
