  1. Anyone else have a go at tonights eclipse? I've tried moons before and they've been rubbish... but these, if viewed small and with a squint, ain't too bad!!!! I actually really like the last one... but that's just me and my love of gloomy lighting

  2. cat just been on your sig have to say there are some excellent shots

If only I had a camera to even try such things

Thank you. My camera isn't a DSLR so don't think it's solely a rich mans hobby!!!! Perfectly possible to dip your toe on a budget :winkold:

  3. Help! Anyone got any tips on photographing fish? Finding it very difficult!!! Best two thus far.. 'almost' get away with poor focus at this size but any bigger and they give the game away!!!!

  4. RE: future sponsorship deals - I didn't buy a shirt this season as I'm against gambling, I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want her 10 year old promoting it! If you intend continuing with them maybe consider taking that logo off children's shirts? or at least giving parents the option? And the previous ruddy CDWS logo was very poor quality - didn't survive constant washing... A good quality, ethically sound, sponsorship logo next time around would certainly get my vote!!!!

  5. Paul I love the composition on your Illfracombe shot.

Couple of recent 'ish' ones from me. Finally got around to buying a macro lens - albeit at the wrong time of year as the ruddy bugs are either deceased or in hiding!!! DOF is far shallower than I'm used to, so bit of a bugger to begin with, but more than happy with it for £20. Am heartened to find you can do photography on the cheap!!! Canon S2 with a Raynox DCR-250 for anyone interested.

  6. RAW is just what it sounds - a raw file, no processing or compression. The digital equivalant of a negative I guess, i.e your PC is the darkroom and you need to process the RAW file in something like Photoshop... does that make sense? I'm confusing myself now! My S2 can't shoot RAW but I think some Prosumer cameras can, not something you'ld find on a compact though and quite a few DSLR owners I know don't use it either - space hungry format!

Nuremberg - looks fantastic, would love to see some more Thai boxing shots.

and ditto b23avfc - would love the opportunity to go there!!!!

  7. If you get caught with an SLR/DSLR you won't be allowed in. Villa Park are about as relaxed as grounds get and even there you'ld need a lot of luck. One of the few advantages my little prosumer cam has over the big guns! That and the fact that I'm a girl so never get searched anyway ( famous last words!! )

  8. Pic loks good. Tripods do get in the way though, I was tempted to stand on a bridge with mine but thought the kids would rather be in the thick of it so abandoned that idea and risked handheld. Gotta admit the harder it is to take the more satisfaction it gives me!!!

NurembergVillan - would love to see your Thailand pics, somewhere I'ld love to visit, my sister lived there for a while.

  9. Canon s2. Was very cloudy that day so struggled with shutter speed ( the s2 is rubbish in low light ) and pics are a little dark as a result. Zoom is just enough though and camera is small enough to go unnoticed - albeit it was noticed towards the end of the first half!!!!

What happened when they discovered you with it?

The steward just asked me not to take photos whilst the game was on. By the time they spotted me I'd covered the first half anyway and wasn't fussed about taking anymore, a camera is rather a hindrance when it comes to jumping up and down and screaming like a maniac :D My dad did want to argue the case though as I had asked for permission before I went - and been told taking photos wasn't a problem provided it was just for personal use.

  11. So glad you posted those!

ps people if you go to her site you can see footy action too! And for the record my favourite section so far is photo of the day.

Have just realised I hadn't linked to the Villa v Tottenham photos I took a few weeks ago... wondered why they weren't getting any hits! Link is in place now, you can find them via the footy menu. Haven't posted them here as aware of copyright restrictions!

  12. Well inspired by b23avfc's 'tripodless' firework shot thought I'ld take my camera along with me to a display this evening. Actually pleasantly surprised by the results... thought I'ld end up with a blurred mess!!! I must have the hands of a brain surgeon

  13. Any POTD in particular? I kind of like them as a set. They tell a story and kind of chart my ups and downs ! When you are under pressure to produce one a day any illusion you like to create, that every photo you take is perfect, goes right out the window!!!! Anyway here's a dameslfly - because it feels like winter and I haven't had enough summer yet!

  14. That's very good! Keep meaning to try fireworks but I can never be faffed with a tripod! Not sure the kids would appreciate having to stand on a hill somewhere so that I could get a good vantage point either!
