  1. yes i'm sure we were concerned about the loyalty downing showed to boro when he joined us. or the loyalty young showed to watford.

get real people - they are professionals looking to advance their careers!

Again its nothing to do with loyalty, its to do with attitude and respect. Both conducted themselves very differently when leaving the club.

    well said

  2. villabromsgrove, valid points made, discussion is good. They may challenge for top 4, but again I say he should have stayed for one more season and then gone, though we may have lost money if he hdant signed new contract. Have said before if we were offered far more money in our jobs, would we take it? Just annoyed with Downing cos of the way we treated him when he signed and his ill judged comments at end of the season.

  3. I am not knocking players for getting the best deals they can, but to come out and say he owes the club massively and then blab he wants out is not commendable. As for Liverpool being a top club now, I would beg to differ. He can go forth and multiply IMO, but dont compare him to Young (not my favourite player by a long way) who showed respect to the club

Liverpool may have struggled recently, but they are a top club by reputation and have a massive world wide fan base.

Who gives a monkeys about reputation, is that why he signed

  5. The guy is a disgrace, but lets be honest, if we were offered a big hike in wages, would we say no

maybe but i'd also take into consideration what the club has done for me and how they supported me through hard times (i.e his injury) and would look to atleast pay it back by showing some loyalty.. maybe that's just me though.

I totally agree with you, think the guy should have given us one more season on an improved contract and then let him go if no improvement in the club. The fact we bought him on one leg should have made a difference, but it didnt. If we can get N'Zogbia in, I think he will be a more than able replacement and want to see Albrighton given a real go again this season.

  6. If (and it is a very big if) Ireland shows some balls and attitude, he is a far better player IMO than Charlie Adams. Maybe he needs to take a look in the mirror instead of blaming all and sundry and ask himself if he really wants it bad enough

  7. Havent read any of the pages since god knows when, if he wants to go, let him, but at the right price. Personally, I think the guy is a disgrace for doing so after Villa buying him when he was crocked and helping him through. Not really my type of player as even Tony Morley dangled a leg better than him, but he has got talent and proved it last season.

  8. Lerner is a businessman, but has treated us Villa fans well IMHO. Lets just give the manager a chance and see how we get on. I dont think for one minute that McLeish will play the same style (or lack of it) that he did at the sty, got better players and hopefully will do a good job. While I dont agree with the appointment, I am backing the chairman who has been brilliant for our club.

  9. Ireland and Warnock can go forth and multiply, shown what they think of the club, sooner they leave the better. Bringing in Hughes to pacify them, I trust that is a joke

  10. He has had a handful of games, maybe give him a few more before deciding he aint going to be up to it. I recall seeing Des Bremner make his debut v Arsenal at home and saying he could be the worst player I had seen in a Villa shirt. After a few games, I was shown to be foolish.

I said the same about Djemba Djemba and Harewood and was shown to be right.

Well, bravo sir. You accurately predicted that Harewood would be shite.

I have seen enough of Makoun to make me believe he is good enough to start in our midfield, given a full pre-season and a bit more premiership experience.

And I said the same about Essien, Malouda, Nasri etc... and was shown to be right.

I find it amazing the guy is getting stick, bloody joke

  11. risso, makoun was good enough for lyon, a team that consistently qualified for the cl, who are better than us, so why don't you think he'll be good enough to be in our 1st team?

He clearly wasn't good enough or they wouldn't have sold him for peanuts, I have no interest in french football but a few years ago he was meant to be the real deal. maybe he still has that in him but so far I haven't really seen it. Has he had many injuries over the years?

Lyons fans didnt want him to leave by all accounts and again would just say give him a chance to adapt to the English game

  12. Yes, so lets give the lad a chance and see whether he can do it. He is obviously a good player, has played in champions league. I think he will come good after a pre season and more games in the premiership.
