Handled it like pure professionals, didn't they? Truly believe they are both loving it here, and we love both of them for sure. Watkins is undoubtedly in his prime for me, and what a player he is. Emi, well I can't think of anything to say about him that hasn't already been said!

It's about time we reminded Sky and the rest of the football world that we are one of the big boys!

They were fantastic. Totally derailed what that to55er wanted out of that interview.

  2. Classic Sky coverage today

’so how can Villa cause Arsenal damage today Merse’

’uuuhh not really, Arsenal can only cause damage to themselves today’

Oh I do loathe UK coverage. I’ve muted more games than not this season.

  3. I suppose at some point we have to accept, unless we magically are allowed Man City levels of spend, we can’t have everything.

the tall clogger approach is working for West Ham but you need to go balls out for that approach. Our game is based around very quick buildup, an high back line, overlapping fast full back and exploiting the turnover. That doesn’t work with bulky, super physical players. The best we’ll get is the Morgan, Mings mould rotating into the XI who are super athletic but wouldn’t stand out in a West Ham type team.

id we had Carlos available yesterday we’d have won a higher % duels but not to the point of a total blockout.

  4. Strange game. Subs and tactical tweak with the second double sub made a massive difference. On the balance I genuinely think we were the stronger team and deserved to win - against a good (albeit negative) West Ham team.

I have NO IDEA why West Ham and the commentators (Optus) were crying over that late disallowed goal. It was really obvious handball, also offside, also fouls in there. The female commentator in particular was willing on West Ham all game I had to mute her first half.

Id have taken a point before the game so i’ll take that. With two of McGinn, Kamara, Ramsey, Costa, Buendia and Mings we’d have won that comfortably.

  5. Might be scraping the barrel but WBA were meant to be in advanced talks to bring Yann M’Vila in (ex. Sunderland and Olympiacos) on a free. If we just want an experienced, mobile body to sit in CDM and mop up he might provide a cheap option.

  6. So with Cash suspended, guess that means we’re back to Konsa RB which is a shame against United who struggle with teams going at them.

I’d thought M Bailey and Diaby had clearly been working on pairing up in advance of the Sheff Utd game meaning we might be intending to play them together for a while - but Bailey will be an impact sub against Man U (with a day less rest).

    Konsa —Carlos——Langlet—Moreno

    ——————Luiz——McGinn—————

    —Zaniolo————-Diaby———Ramsey—

    ————————Watkins————————

Anyone reckon we might see McGinn further forward and Dendonker in for Ramsey?

Would love to know who that was from

If Gerrard really is as bad as it appears (and everything we’ve since learned about his style) then it now makes sense why Beale was proclaimed as some coaching messiah under him. He probably just knew where the cones were.

another point to note. city's CB's were class tonight. probably the only team in the league with better CBs than us. this wasn't a bad city display at all, and we still came out on top

but naturally the post match is dominated by city being poor with the occasional nugget of "villa played well". but fine...keep not taking us seriously.

In fairness to Amazon. The entirety of the post game was about Villa. Martin O’Neill was one of the pundits. They were all gushing.

  9. Im convinced the only reason Boris is running is leverage while he still has a decent wedge of support and knows he’d still win the populist members vote.

Fully expect a deal to see Sunak in office and Boris given a well paid, cushty foreign office role while his investigation(s) are quietly diluted as well as some of his ‘backers/donors’ interests wound into Sunak’s plan.
