Jhon is a high risk, high reward player, and we just don't have the capacity for that at the moment sadly.
-
He doesn't seem like an Emery player, and we have to go all in on Emery. £42m is good money, we need to sell some players at some point and there's simply no one else in the squad we could get that money for who would be a smaller overall loss.
-
I think he'll be one of the 7 to not make the final squad, but also not the worst thing in the world if he gets more time to rest and recover over the summer after a gruelling season

Why is who is in and out being announced one by one?
It's especially silly considering this is just a provisional squad and three or four of these players aren't going to make the final cut anyway.

Quote::// Emi Martinez had an agreement in place with villa where he’d be allowed to go to the olympics IF villa qualified for the champs league [fernando czyz]
it’s Martinez desire to represent Argentina in the copa America + Olympics this summer
if Martinez were to go he would miss all of #avfc pre season + potentially the first premier league game
the copa america is from June 10th - July 10th + the Olympics starts on the 26th July

It's going to be very very tricky to finish in 4th again whilst also juggling mid-week games against Bayern, Barcelona, Juventus, etc.
Wonder if there's any chance of fifth getting CL again next season.
-
It's terribly exciting to think how well we could do next season if we manage to avoid any more season-long injuries to key players, or indeed any lengthy absences at all really.
How does it look for that fifth CL spot next season too? It's going to be a competitive league, if we're able to progress far in a cup and even get into the knockout rounds of the CL, it would be nice to have slightly less pressure in the league.

Ollie must be gutted

I’m in actual physical pain right now

But we wouldn't, not if Spurs win 1-0 tonight, and the goal swing of final win for them defeat for us isn't too heavy.
No, Spurs are on 63 points, we are on 68, they go above us with two wins
-
Hopefully City come out another gear higher in the second half and Spurs are tired.
-
I hate this.
-
Draw tonight would be fantastic but I don't think I could cope with the stress that would put me through.
Given that it's not actually Villa playing, I'm tempted to do something else for two hours and just check the score at the end.
-
I would sell him purely so I never have to be reminded of that miss again
-
Looked class in the first half today. (couldn't focus on the second half so no comment.)
Heard him saying Jhon can be a nightmare to have on your team in the post match interview, wonder if that was slightly too honest of him?

So even if Tottenham beat City and Sheffield. We could still get 4th on goal difference now?
Ohh hang on, just worked out the maths, maybe not.
If we draw at Palace, Spurs need to beat City and Sheffield by 8 goals, combined. (I assume it goes to goals scored when GD is tied)

Agonisingly close to sealing it in the best way possible, but that point could come in handy.
Feel much more confident going into that Palace game too, though it's going to be really tough.

A win under the lights would be a picture perfect ending for our season, wouldn’t it? The climax is feeling slightly dampened by how shattered both the players and the fans are. I’d love a win to let everyone finish on a real high.
Liverpool will be solid but wasteful. Let’s go 1-0 (Watkins 79’)

Got this weird feeling he could end up featuring a lot this tournament and really impressing.
