  1. General Krulak Here:

    1. Back from my trip only to discover that Randy is a bum and lacks ambition, I am a liar and a shill, we've really spent no money on the Club, every possible Manager we have looked at is not wanted at the Club or is a lousy Manager or is an indication of no desire to move forward, that we passed on getting a Manager in order not to spend money during the transfer window, etc. etc. etc. And I am supposed to answer comments/questions that surround those issues??? There is no way I can do it...NOT because I don't have the answers but because no one would believe me...which makes coming on this site pretty much a waste of my time and yours.

    2. Randy and the Club have NOT given up. Randy and the Club are daily working to make us better. The idea that Randy hasn't spent money on the Club is simply absurd. In reality, he has bought the Club OVER three times...that is how much money he has put into AVFC. All the Managers we are looking at may not meet your criteria but you aren't tasked with selecting them. You have no idea who we are looking at other than reading the papers...and those that you have guessed correctly, you have something negative to say about all of them. Suppose we happen to pick one of them...or suppose we are trying to get one to come to the Club...I am sure they enjoy reading the blogs to see how our fans react to their names...and rest assured, anyone we would want is smart enough to do some due diligence on the Club and Fan base. Simply put, there are some Fans who have just turned on Randy like pit vipers...turned on the man who has done more for your Club in 4 years than most have done in 40. This summer will pass...it will be a footnote in history before we are all done. I have done all in my power to keep you all informed as to where we are...and there are some that just discount everything I say. I am at a loss as to where to go from here other than to say that we are continuing to work towards a resolution of this issue. WE didn't quit the team 5 days before the start of the season...WE didn't leave the Club high and dry. If you think that it is easy to go find a Manager, think again. You have mentioned some high visibility Managers...do you really believe we haven't spoken to them? You say we should throw money at them and they will up and quit their current Clubs...you know nothing!! For those who understand the issues we are faced and support us...thank you! Fosr those who don't, I would only ask that you try to fathom the depth of the issues and the effort we have been expending since this all started.

That is a pretty childish, condescending and disappointing reply in my opinion. The fans you are 'having a go at' were here long before you were and will be here long after you pack your bags. They have spent time, money (not dissimilar to what Randy has spent in proportion to their total wealth) and are the lifeblood of the club. If you and Randy are unable to handle this criticism with dignity and composure then I suggest you are unable to handle the day-to -day pressures of running the world’s greatest football club.

Not having a manager, having only 22 players to name out of a possible 25 and having a net spend of -23M during the transfer window is surely a concern for most Villa fans.

When will we have a new manager?

What is the transfer kitty for January? (Nothing, small, large)

Are you changing the away shirt next year after the cock-up with the sponsor?

  2. That was the handshake?? FFS It lasted 2 seconds then Lerner dashes off, obviously elsewhere. Much a do...

People see what they want to see I suppose...if Sarah Palin can see Russia from her house then I guess it would not be so absurd for some 'people to see that this was secretly a handshake between Owner and soon-to-be manager.

    For me, it was ....

    Randy: 'Hello, good luck'

    DM: 'Thanks'

  3. 5th, maybe 4th if we are lucky. There's absolutely no reason why we can't continue to get the required results.

Small squad and negative impact of injurieson results.

Small squad and burn out of young players (Gabby as an example).

There are two reasons within a few seconds.

  4. People, save more, spend less... sorted!

Actually the complete opposite has to happen, in the short term, for the greater good. A consumer MPC of around 92-97% over the next 18 months should see a relatively 'soft' landing. Anything less than this and we're headed for a recession that has been enevitable after the unsustained growth that we have seen over the last few years.

With 9,000,000,000,000 of debt, America is too close to becoming a banana republic and this number will need to be reduced significantly, exacerbating the downturn in the U.S. economy over the next two-three years.

The real question is, what on earth would anybody want to be the next U.S president?

  5. Fulham's deal is a 3 party distribution deal, not direct with Nike I believe. Always worth checking your facts before you post...

But it's still Nike, so surely it will still be sold in a Nike store, as was the point I was making wrt the shirts being stocked in the Barca store. Please read the thread before you post.

  6. 3. Financial. I believe that the financial package is more attractive to us than the Hummel deal. I think someone mentioned something like £5m a year, though can't remember who.

If you can get this informatioon I will quite happily say that this is a better deal, but I want hard facts, not some people who see teh Nike swoosh and go weak at the knees.

  7. Ok, how easy is it to get an Aston Villa Hummel kit? Outside Birmingham it is pretty hit and miss from what I have found. The Nike distribution network however is vast and our shirts will be stocked in shops within markets where our shirts have been practically impossible to get.

Are you saying that a Nike store in L.A. will stock a Villa shirt?

I think that is a good shout seeing how few teams they choose to sponsor, we could also have a presence in the club shop of Barca which has a section devoted to shirts of other Nike teams and countries. Not sure if they do that in their sponsored club shops, I can't really see it at Old Trafford or Celtic but certainly the likes of Barca with it's great tourist footfall.

Villa shirt in a Barca store? absolutely no chance I am afraid, it's only Man Ure and other really premier teams that get in there.

  8. Poodle, the way your posts come across, that you believe the Nike deal will not be superior to the Hummel deal, any proof of that??

Where did I say that? In fact I said, if you bother to read, I said that i don't pretend to know, so I don't offer my opinion as fact, either way

  9. I think I have already provided evidence of this, not solid figures, but commercially valid reasoning behind believing this deal is superior, but you chose to ignore them!!

Guesses do not equate to solid evidence, but perhaps we have different standards, so let's leave it there shall we before this gets out of hand.

  10. Well, as far as commercial monetary gain, I think you will find that Nike will sell far more shirts, Villa will have greater exposure due to the worldwide popularity of the Nike brand, greater sales, invoke greater revenue, the board have released no figures on the deal itself, but taking on board other premiership deals and the fact the Nike sponsorship budget is probably larger Hummels entire turnover, I would imagine this deal dwarfs the Hummel deal!!

Whilst I agree on running shoes quality, I see you don't mention Hummel in your list of sporting manufacturers, and with Nike being one of the biggest in the business (if not the biggest) they don't do to bad!

What are these other premiership deals you are talking about?

I assume you didn't see the figures from the Manchester United deal then?? £302.9m I believe!!

Fantastic, thanks for an answer, perhaps you can give me figures that I care about, like the value of Villa's Nike deal and the reason you feel it is far more commercially viable than Hummel. Facts would be nice.

We have already benefited from a friendly with Nike sponsored Inter Milan, confident that we wouldn't have had this game without this sponsorship.

I see Nike are arranging our fixture list now.

  13. I was waiting for you to pop up on this thread, Poodle. The value of the details doesn't matter to us as we are a privately owned company and the owner seems very pleased with who is making our kit thank you very much, the most popular sports brand in the World and one of up to 8 partners that we wish to have in the future.

Oh, sorry I thought (from the initial comment about the commercial dept.) that the deal with Nike was of a higher commercial value than Hummel. Don't know what made me come to that conclusion.

Do you think it is of higher commercial value?

I don't pretend to know, so I don't voice my opinion as fact either way.

  15. I don't understand your point.

    Nor I yours.

I am very happy we have Nike instead of Hummel. Nike is more internationally recognised than Hummel and in my personal opinion, and of a lot of people I know, there were a lot of complaints about the quality of the Hummel kit.

Well I call bullshit on that I am afraid. This years kit was of awesome quality and I challenge anybody who says otherwise.
