  1. The photo with the kid gives me an idea. Every local Villa kid supporter should be taught to say in their best Oliver Twist voice "please stay benteke. Don't leave me." Cue slight tears. Several dozen repetitions should work. We may not have CL but we do have cute kids. Low-maybe.

    Neither do Spurs.

    **** London Belgian clique.

isnt it normal they would love the idea to spend much time together? theyr all a bunch of friends :) but yea it would suck to lose him

Not being funny but wanting to spend time with fellow footballers from your country is not a good enough reason to want to leave a football club.

Hope we use a small amount of the Benteke money to get rid of him. He demanded 2 million to leave City, half of that and that should be enough to send him packing, hopefully. Don't want us paying any of his wages next season.

Personally I would prefer ALL that money to be re-invested into the squad and not be used on people like Ireland.

Why? Say he doesn't get signed he would be on the books until next year taking home £3.1 million from us. Offer him a million out of the 25 we'd hopefully get from Benteke, not really a big deal.

If we were going to look in the Dutch league I wish we could have had some anticipation and gone for Bony.

Was it Bony who we went for before we signed Benteke but his club pulled the deal?

Yep, was going to be a loan last season then a permanent transfer but his club then bottled it.

  6. Question from his live webchat. He seems like a fun guy!

On Vydra Udinese are asking for 8 million aren't they? I wouldn't say he is worth 8 million but the games gone mad, Zaha went for 15 million and Ince was going for 8. If Lambert wants him then it's fine by me. He's got a track record of scoring goals and fits the young mould.

I have seen very little of Vydra but i wonder is he more like Gabby than Benteke and if so would he fit into our system?

I live with a Watford fan at uni so i've seen him play a fair few times. He's quick, a solid finisher. If he could fit into our system depends what formation we play when Benteke leaves. I'd say his ability and potential is similar to Weimann's. Only concern is he had a big stretch last season towards the end where he didn't score for over 10 games but that could be put down to first season in England and fatigue.

  9. Carrick will be 32 soon. I would be very surprised if he was starting in the qualifiers for euro 2016 so then it becomes down to the likes of Westwood, Cleverly, Wilshere, Henderson, Chalobah etc to claim the starting midfield spots . Secondly, Aston Villa have provided more England internationals than any other club so playing outside of the top 4 does not determine if you're good enough to play for England.

  10. If they had Benteke last season I think Spurs would have come top 3. They were within touching distance of City with about 10 games to go then the wheels fell off. 25 million really is not a lot of money when it comes to securing champions league football.

Ridiculous. If we lose every pre season game then pick up a decent number of points during our tough start to the league will you still be crying then?

If we then go on losing to Bradford over a two leg tie I think I will. It is not about this single result today, it's about this Club not having a winning mentality, as shown over many years. Creating an attitude where not winning is not acceptable is the only way to change that, and that as to start in pre-season. That should make any Villa fan cry IMO.

    No.

    Just no.

    care to elaborate?

So we don't have a winning in mentality? Where were you the last few months of the season when we beat every team around us that we needed to then? QPR, Reading, Stoke, Sunderland, Norwich and West Ham to ensure survival. Including late winners at Stoke and Norwich. The majority of fans are very positive about the villa at the minute and can see the improvement in the team since the turn of the year. Don't think you've thought this through at all.
