  1. Much as Neville's stock is falling in most peoples opinion, when this takeover goes through a small note of recognition must go his way for pushing the whole affair into the limelight around 10 months ago.

If nothing else Nevilles initial interest pushed the clubs sale onto the radar for many prospective buyers.

Who knows, if Neville hadn't expressed an interest perhaps bidders like Mr Lerner may never have come along.

And if Neville is as dodgy as he seems then, (sharp intake) thanks to Doug for not selling to him! A wolf in sheeps clothing?

  2. By the way just read a very interesting story about Neville , i say interesting but the word should be shocking .

Neville has "supposedly" aproached Leaner and said "pay me off and i'll withdraw my bid " .

The more i read about Leaner the more i hate him , anybody else read this ?? i believe its from the Telegraph

glaring error in there Totti I think. The last line doesn't ring true with the rest

And who is this Leaner character? Another consortium? :winkold:

He is a skinny guy that can be found propping up a wall usually.

  3. oooohh you know something denis?

let us just say that if the rumours are correct, while MON will be Villa's next manager, he wont be Ellis' 14th appointment. if the rumours are correct then MON will not report to Doug during these, the latter's last days at the club, but will be working to a schedule drawn up by someone else. If the rumours are correct then Ellis has had absolutely nothing to do with this appointment, with all the details being handled by a third party.

if there is a press conference today (and there is no guarantee there will be) then it seems highly unlikely that Doug will be anywhere near the place while it is going on.

    We will see

Yes, if Doug is missing then that will be the biggest sign yet that the takeover is going through. Maybe Doug will be there and he'll say "Martin is DEFINITELY my last manager!".

  4. You're quite right Jez, nothing is going to happen for weeks yet. The new manager (MON or whoever) probably won't be in charge until some time next month. If takeovers take as long as people say they do and MON won't start until it is finished, then I'm afraid we're stuck with Aitken/Steele for the first few games of the season.

  5. Its true I was away for a week getting married and honeymooning, I come back to find out about Lerner, I get all excited, then there were the reports of Doug pissing him off and I am gutted again!

The watch kettle never boils . . . the watch club never gets taken over!

  6. I'm well pissed off with all this now. I just have a feeling that Ellis is going to **** it all up - again. I'm fed up of waking up each day with hope that something will happen, spending hours trawling the internet for any inkling of hope (when I should be working) and, as each day wears on, getting more and more disheartened.

I would love to just be able to think that I'll just forget it all until some formal announcement is made but I just know that I can't I HAVE to carry on looking at VT for any glimmer of hope. Oh well, back to work UNTIL the next look!!!

    You're not the only one!

  7. I think we have all gotten a litte too bit carried away on this. Expect news that Lerner is not pursuing his interest, Neville hasn't got the funds, Padfield decided to go elsewhere and Still was nothing more than a rumour. O'Neil gets fed up with the press hounding him and pulls out of the management race, leaving us with a former Villa hero who has no management experience. Another season of dross. And its drizzling outside.

Thats the Villa way though isn't it?

  8. But doesn't it take a while to complete the whole takeover process, like with Sunderland? The ManU and Chelsea takeovers also took a number of weeks I remember. Why would the Villa takeover be any quicker?

  9. It does strike me that Neville will not have massive amounts of cash to invest. What he will do instead is run Villa more effeciently, and invest Villa's own money back into the club - basically to run it how Doug should be doing it.

So this is not a bad thing, it would be an improvement.

If Lerner and Still were to bid, I get the impression they would have extra cash to invest initially.
