I won't come on this site and slag Lambert off, he was a brilliant manager for us, but, he doesn't do defence and defending. Now, you can get away with that in the lower divisions, higher up? hmm?
Last year we rode our luck at times but managed ok, had he stayed at Norwich who knows?
But he should given another transfer window at least.
-
Oh come on Wiz that was barely your B side and you know it, it was just as much your B team as ours was our second string that night.
No Tetty, Turner, Garrido and Hooli for starters, they're big players for us.
-
You completely ignored the very good point that the Norwich fan made. In case you didn't realise, they were talking about teams and how many they conceded last season. Norwich conceded a lot at the back and were poor defensively. This season under the same manager we are conceding a lot and are at times poor defensively. He didn't claim Lambert was a bad manager, he wasn't bad-mouthing the guy. Why when people are talking about defensive records do you talk about Norwich's 3 previous seasons?
Well spotted skarroki, I only meant, from our experience, Lambert doesn't do defence, Hughton does, at the expense of our attack imo.
When you put 4 past our B side (in effect it was!) in the LC game I was not surprised one bit, Lambert was often gung ho in our formations after substitutions.
But defense wise, I'd be worried if he was still our man, and thats not sour grapes.

dont be quite so sure
Oh I'm sure, Everton are sniffing around him.
-
I think the whole club needs a lift at the moment, the young players have shown their best and worst so far and things haven't been helped by our more senior players being currently injured.
If Lambert could pull off a 'Carew/Young' style transfer window, we'd be in a much better place!
I have faith in PL's transfers, none of them of goppingly bad and will all have a part to play this season.
I think 3-4 signings is achievable - a CB, CM, AM/Winger and AM/ST
Wish list (and trying to be realistic)
AM/ST - Finnbogason/Guidetti/Aubameyang
AM/Winger - Pilkington/Morison (Norwich)
CM - Dale Stephens (Charlton)/Derek Boateng/Raoul Loe
CB - ??
Name the place and I'll drive Morro up, as for Pilks, you have no chance.
-
we conceded 2 more goals than newcastle who were 5th and we only conceded 7 more than cheese who were 6th last year. The defense was not that shocking. We concerned 13 less than Norwich who actually were shocking at the back last year
And who was our manager back then?
-
My ITK says it's Ruddy, Pilkington, Tettey, Hoolahan, Johnson, Howson and Snodgrass.
Hmm?
Envy eh?
-
He was just doing the decent thing: Making sure Norwich get a decent fee for him when he gets the transfer he wants.
Thats fine, every bit is welcomed for the January window fund.
-
Nursey has got the name wrong. It's Hoolahan, not Morrison.
No, its Morro............plus Hooli's just signed a new 3 year contract so it'll cost you.
-
Nursey from Mirror linking us with Morrison from Norwich..not too exciting really
Please, please make this happen, my cars full of petrol and waiting to deliver him, hell, I'll even pay for a Little Chef stop on route.
-
No idea as to figures yet, but every little bit helps:

I would love us to sign Pilkington from Norwich
I rate your chance of that at minus zero!...........however, if he was our manager.....
-
No arguements, well done and good luck in the next round.
-
4,000 sounds appropriate - will we be in the same place we usually are at Norwich? I want to be behind the goal .
4,000 will be good though because we can make a shit load of noise - how much do we usually get for Norwich?
Yes, most certainly, thats the 'away' section.

nearby to Carrow Rd generally its all permit parking in the close residential areas, across the road from the stadium is a retail park with Morrisons, Boots, Next etc, not sure what the score is for matchday/night parking (its free when you go shopping) but there is loads of car park spaces, that will be the closest and easiest place to park. Apart from that there a multi-storey near the train station thats a short walk from the ground and 3/4 in town. Norwich City Council have parking locked down unfortunately not many places really for free parking I'm afraid.
The car park at NC County Hall IS open I understand, but if you park at Morrison's you'll either get clamped or locked in!
There's is no on street parking on matchdays, there are a few spaces at the railway station.
Hope this helps.

So lets see who are the managers in this league and my assessment of who is better than Lambert or not , just my opinion hence why I said "I'd say" in my original post
Mancini = Debatable, has spent the GDP of a small country to win the league on goal difference and miss out on champions league again. I think given the money he has spent Lambert would have done better
Fergusson = Hate the guy but a better manager than Lambert
Benitez = No way wouldn't want him here awful overrated manager
Clarke = Similar but not better
Moyes = Maybe,
Wenger = Yes better
Alladyce = Not better, uglier
AVB = No not better
Jol = Similar not better
Laudrup = Not better
Rodgers = Not better
Pardhew = Not better
Hughton = Not better
Pullis = Not better
O'Neill = Better
Martinez = Not better
Mcdermott = Not Better
Adkins = Not better
Hughes = Not Better
So 3 maybe 4 better than him, in my opinion
Strangely, some of us down here actually believe that Hughton should be classed as better, just saying like. 5 games unbeaten now, 6 if you count cup, 4 clean sheets and a better League position.
Don't get me wrong, Lambert could be a top manager but his Achillies heel has always been defence, yes, I expect Villa to have no trouble in scoring but defence wise, in this league, I fear for your future.
But you still have to give him time to sort it.
-
Talk about clutching at straws, you only started with 3 of his signings, so now your not classing Holt or Hoolahan as his players though he kept them in league 1 to the Premier League, honestly your fans are seriously clutching at straws and have short memories.
He didn't sign them.........fact............both were signed by previous managers.
-
When we beat United on Saturday, we kicked off with 3, just 3, of Lamberts signings and one of them was our keeper!
The man is a great man manager and motivator, he just doesn't do defending.
I don't know why it hasn't 'clicked' for you but talk of sacking must be premature.
-
Hope they put 5 or 6 past you personally.
That must have hurt then!...no, I didn't come here to gloat either.
Only a few of Lamberts signings STARTED the game yesterday, Hughton has installed a complete new defence.
Lambert, doesn't do defending, both tactics have their merits, but under Lambert, we'd have lost that game yesterday.
PS. Still think you'll be safe though.

We play Manure this Saturday (live on ESPN 5.30pm) a chance maybe for a comparrison between our two sides?
-
Can't see him going to liverpool if the job arises.
They have fallen so far from what they were under Benitez.
No AVFC, I said A Liverpool, ie. it would take a bigger club than yourselves for him to jump ship now.
-
Again not on the wind up at all.
Just wondering if he had still been at Norwich would there have been enquiries about him taking the scottish job? What i mean is, since he was doing so well there as apposed to with us.
Thats the point i was making albeit maybe in a too direct manner for some on here.
We had to live with this for 3 years!
In general, unless things have changed, Lambert doesn't rate Scottish football that highly and often said he had no desire to manage up there again...even at a National level.
I'd relax if I were you, now, had it been a Liverpool................
-
Correct.
Utter bullshit. Who next Grant Holt?
Its lazy jurno time alright, Wes is contracted to us until the end of the 2014 season.....they forgot our 1 year extention option we have on him!
-
Do ESPN cover this trophy?
Paul Lambert

Wouldn't want him back now, our squad seem happier with Hughton and his tactics.......as you say, how things change.
