  1. Fat Ron got fired

Brian Little was the man who revolutionized us a bit after having some terrible years

    John Gregory got fired

Graham Taylor was a terrible, terrible manager in his second period and DOL is closer to doom rather than glory as things look now (not his fault). So I'd say the boss is Doug "Fatass" Ellis

  2. He is a bluenose and a journey-man, perfect in a system last season, and I dear remind you that they relegated because of it.

He is better than Vassell most likely, but I don't think he is much better at Vass would also score 14-19 Premiership goals for them, taking all them penalties.

  3. David O'Leary this evening explained why he gave the green light for Darius Vassell to have talks with Manchester City, reflecting: "I think he's gone stale at Villa."

The England striker flew back to the UK yesterday for talks and a medical at the City of Manchester Stadium and is expected to complete a move shortly.

Vassell's likely departure will come as a surprise to some, but O'Leary believes the fresh challenge is exactly what the striker needs as he bids to force his way back into the Egland set-up.

The Villa boss reflected: "I think people saying the same things about Darius for so many years. He's got set in his ways a little bit and his car probably knows the way to the training ground on its own! I have to say he's a lovely boy and I felt he needed a new challenge.

"The bottom line is we were looking for more goals from Vass. His record speaks for itself. He's not exactly been prolific for us and that's where he'll be looking to improve at Manchester City. I'm sure he'll look to get back into the England team with this move.

"We wish him well if it happens. He's been a lovely boy to deal with here and we never had any problems with him whatsoever."

Vassell made his debut against Middlesbrough in August 1998 - five months after signing his first professional contract. Soon afterwards he scored two goals against Stromsgodset in the UEFA Cup that set him on his way.

The England striker has made 106 league starts for Villa with an extra 54 appearances from the bench, scoring 35 league goals. He has also started 17 cup matches, with 22 substitutes' appearances - scoring 10 times to complete a Villa record of 45 goals in 199 games.

Last season, a broken ankle sustained in October meant he made just 17 league and cup starts. He scored just three goals against Southampton, QPR and West Brom.

Here you go, shut the thread then.

  4. Much of our heart and soul lies in his feet, I think. If we sell him and continue buying the Bergers and Phillips's.... then we become Birmingham. A squad filled with journey-men.

He burns for Villa, and always will I think. He is fast and has enormous potential he has to exploit soon

  5. Back-up for Sørensen.

I know how the story goes. In two weeks he will say that he is challenging for the #1 spot, and in a year he's pissed of and wants to leave.

On top of that, we got a snutty Arsenal-player

  6. Benitez chases £10m Aimar

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has made Valencia playmaker Pablo Aimar his main target this summer.

The Argentine midfielder, valued at £10m, has a good relationship with Benitez - the man who brought him to Europe when he was coach of Valencia - and Aimar would relish a chance in the Premiership.

"Benitez is an excellent coach who knows me well and Liverpool would be an ideal place to go if I can't sort out my future here," said the 25-year-old. "English football is the best in Europe next to Spain and I do not think I'd have a problem adapting to the Premiership."

Lets go get him! He would be wicked with JPA :>

I really doubt Aimar knows of the club called Aston Villa, seriously

  7. AND we've got three of the most prominent players in South America here to help him acclimitize to the Prem

What has that got to do with him wanting to join us more? That's like saying I would join a Brazilian club because a guy from Finland was already playing..... wouldn't make my mind up at all

  8. Would just like to see what other people think about the whole thing concerning James Beattie and his transfer to Everton instead of us.

He hasn't made an inpact at all, and being quite similar to Angel in terms of strengths and weaknesses, do you regret not signing him?

My pick a BIG NO! I think it is marvellous that he went to them, so we still have the money to buy a much better and speedier striker with a better ratio

  9. If every manager in the Premier League, Primera, Serie A and even the Norwegian Tippeliga was to chose between Downing and Barry, I think 99% would pick Downing.

Talking about Barry being better than Downing is just stupid. He is fast, he h has a great cross and he has tecnique. Barry is slow, works too little and has virtually no flair or tecnique. Id pick DOwning over Barry every day.

  10. As a Villa-supporter and an England-supporter when it comes to International teams (next to Norway that is....)... I would be kind of worried if Barry entered the line-up. Barry instead of Downing? Give me a break. Barry is amongst the 10 best left midfielders in England, but England LACKS left midfielders and that says it all.

  11. Brilliant player, who needs better midfield service.

So Johnson at CP is a brillian player then? I mean, henry-class?

Cut the shit, a player like Angel needs more goals and Villa is one of the teams with the most deliveries and crosses
