However, what would people say a good first season is ?
Personally 45 pts - and keep us clear of the relegation zone - would be a good solid start.
My real hope is that he gets the best out of gary gardner - who showed very little under AM (not alone there) - but there has to be more to GG - as yet untapped.
I agree. I think that although Villa is a top-half team, we could do with some patience for a good, solid building season. That's not to say, I don't want to see some good football. I think the fans backing of the manager is vital to his efforts to build a team.
45 points and a manager, I believe in, would a great next season. If, on top of that, we could play some football actually worth seeing, I'd be over the moon. 45 points pulled in McLeish-style would not suit me at all.

Something worth noting, Ole's agent is Jim Solbakken, who also happens to represent Valen Berisha.
Seems like a move for Ole has been on the cards for a while?!?
Good point.
And with Solskjær as manager, Berisha would be closer. Hopefully, babyface can pull in a bit more stars as necessary to get this team going again.

I must say, I'm VERY pleased about this news. Solskjær has done well in Norway and has a little bit experience from ManUtd. But most importantly, he could really rally the fans and get us going for Villa!
He's reported to have been playing very watchable and attacking football - and winning the title doing so. Impressive.
He's more than welcome IMO!

So possibly 3 across the back and 2 wing backs? I feel like I'm back in the nineties!!
I'm happy with it, really.
This is a defeat in the making. Props to McLeish for trying something different, especially double-teaming Bale with Hutton and Cuellar.
Best from this game is a draw.
UPV!

Well **** me, Tottenham's sporting a great lineup ...
-
So were gonna defend for 90 mins and have no speed for any counter attacks, gonna be a long night :/
Yey!

Loving it! His second long shot of the season? Get in there Stan, keep 'em going!

Good spirit Warnock

I like seeing Bent fighting for it. Him and Gabby are running like mad men

im not watching the game but sounds like nzog is having a shocker.whats he doing wrong??
He's giving away possession, kicking the ball all over the place and not participating well in defending
-
Albrighton on for the Zog, Ireland on for Delph 60 min in

-
We're being a bit too passive at the moment
-
Definately not sufficiently tidy in the back
-
DAMNIT Delph!
-
No injuries please
-
Collins acting dangerous
-
Brilliant... looking twice the player he was last season. Great first touch, calm finish, left foot - none of it usually stuff that would usually spring to mind with Gabby.
He's looking real good this season. I especially enjoy his work rate, he's been relentless
-
YEAAA!!! GABBY!
-
DB needs to score today, for his own sake.
Definately. Be nice to see him get going again
-
Good to see Bannan again

This'll probably be a draw, and maybe by now I should be ready to see Villa as a struggling mid-table team, but I still madly want to hang on to the idea of Villa as a top team. It'll be a tough game
No Longer Interested: (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Molde FK)

This probably isn't the first time, they've talked. I bet he's come over to sign and meet the staff.
Norwegian papers (http://www.tk.no/sporten/article6065320.ece) are reporting Molde saying, they were told of talks two and a half days ago - and they've probably been talking some time before Molde was told ..
