  1. I like a good stat me.

Lets look at Lamberts LEAGUE record with us and how that compares to predecessors and more importantly the relegated teams over the past 5 years:

    Paul Lambert
    Played 27
    Won 5
    Drew 9
    Lost 13

    Points per game = 0.89

To put that in context the league record of his predecessors:

    Mcleish     1.00 ppg
    Houllier     1.24 ppg
    MON         1.49 ppg
    www.tinyurl.com/avfcpremcomparison

    As you can see the decline has been shocking. That only started what is the point of my article. It made me think;

"how many points per game did the relegated teams get last year?"

So I looked it up and the 4 seasons before that to make it thorough. What I found makes the current situation even more scary.

In 4 of the past 5 years our current form would have relegated us.

The Full tables can be seen at: www.tinyurl.com/avfcform

But with our current ppg of 0.89 and Goal Difference. These are the teams that would have stayed above us on form over a season:

    11/12
    Bolton           36pts 0.95ppg

    10/11
    Blackpool      39pts 1.03ppg
    Small heath   39pts 1.03ppg

    08/09
Newcastle     34pts 0.89ppg (Goal diff 7 better than ours)

    07/08
    Reading         36pts 0.95ppg
    Small Heath   35pts 0.93ppg

If this form continues, the only thing I can see is Relegation.

  2. So, we've leant today that:

    - Bent isn't being kept out of the squad for financial reasons.

    - According to Gabby, Bent is a "great pro" and is "working hard in training".

The above makes it all even more bizarre.

Its almost like the first point is a lie.

  3. Ummmm I do not think Lerner is making any money of Villa, and if so certainly not 50m! Such a bizarre idea...

He is getting a wage and has the club owing him every penny he's invested with interest. So in a way he is.

  4. What?

Have another go. Did you mean 'remind 1990' of my humour? That would've been pretty sharp.

Agh a pedant as well as sarcastic..... This is why I stay away from vt. and ironically dream of the 90's when we won cups!

  5. What if he doesn't? Is Bent going to accept the bench for the rest of the season, or are we going to keep paying him while he watches Bowery sit there instead?

1990 called, it wants its tactics back.

I'll inform 1990 of your humour when i tell it to go away.

  6. It seems to me that it's the implementation of a sustainable expenditure plan that seems to be the gripe now.

Maybe a slow steady growth instead of boom and bust would have been the outcome then. We'll never know. Just surviving year and year from now on will be the key.

Its a bit like turning 18 and spending every night drinking hideous amounts of alcohol and partying in the top 6 clubs for 4 years. Then overnight for the doctor/solicitor tells you you have no liver or money left and you will have to survive never having a drink again and on the dole.

Me? Im saying lets get a liver transplant and move on..... others are saying we had a good run and hey sometimes vimto is a really good treat.

    It aint Leffe is it?

  7. Firstly. The Myth he is investing money. Its coming in as loans from his family fund. Its all just going against a giant credit to him if/when he sells. (that myth is right up there with Doug leaving us with no debts)

Secondly. the £20MILL! this summer lot. After 2 years of negative investment he finally put some of the money back. Over three years he's only spent circa. £8mil. and thats why the squad is in the condition it is in! http://www.tinyurl.com/avfcspend

  8. At what point did Randy sinking c.£200m into Aston Villa "**** it?"

Well if you read the above you'd see that when he was unable to get any money back for players. Unable to set a wage budget that wouldnt result in losses. Oh and your missing the fact he hasnt invested any money. He's lent it from his family fund.

Jeez, he told one manager with flaws he couldn't spunk shit loads of cash on players anymore so manager with flaws flounced out.

MON got compensation for constructive dismissal. I think we can now speak with confidence that what happening was Randy was telling him he couldnt buy anyone. We were selling Milner (which i might add Randy did anyway bringing in useless Ireland) and that people with high wages would have to go. This made MONs job impossible.

He then appointed another manager with a dodgy ticker and different flaws who was starting to sort the club out and then got it.

Over the hill manager who was only saved by our form when he was ill. He then paid him off for his troubles in nearly relegating us (2 games to go before we were safe!) and being unable to carry on at the club.

He then appointed a total muppet who most were prepared to give a chance to but proved to be a total muppet.

whilst ignoring the fans who protested against it and showed him they knew more about the club than him! Nice.

He then appointed another manager with flaws.

A few bad decisions does not the devil incarnate make.

Nope dont believe in the devil. Randy's actually real and actually butt f******* us whilst he gets more money owed to his fund he'll get back anyway when/if he sells

  9. Still waiting for an answer to my question........

I want him to sell up and leave. That would solve his running of the club.

What will come back is stuff like:

    "who would buy us"

"we could have owners like the bluenoses"

To which id say that most owners will have more of a clue that the current board and if they sold responsibly we wouldnt get bad owners.

The latter i worry about. Lets face it Dougs last job before taking us all for £70mil+ was selling us to a yank who didnt know what a budget was.

  10. Lerner's not been good for Villa? Yes that's right let's all blame Randy Lerner for everything!

    • It was his fault for giving Martin O'Neill all the millions to spend on players and build this club back up. (yet funny enough it's the same people on here who want Harry Redknapp to come and do the exact same thing)? Hypocrites R us!

Hell let's all blame him on this over spending and that it's his fault for the whole global recession!

I noticed when the millions where being spent (on players, the training ground, the work done in and around villa park etc.) not many were grumbling then were they!

    .

Some of us thought he had a long term plan and knew what a wage structure was.

Turns out he had neither. Who would have thunk it!
