    In response to that spoiler

I do agree Austin would have been better, but I've seen people saying Taker made no sense.
But I think with The Rock's current persona and Taker's perception of being like the godfather of the locker room, protecting what's right and also with his legendary status around Mania it did totally work.

It also kind of countered the "Final Boss" stuff that The Rock has been pushing. It's Wrestlemania. The Rock isn't the final boss, the Undertaker is.

    Spoiler

Also, Philadelphia is famous for the Liberty Bell, so when the bell chimed for Taker…

  2. I’m normally pretty pessimistic and still think we will end up 6th… but if you look out out next 11 fixtures…

    Brentford (a)

    Sheffield United (h)

    Manchester United (a)

    Burnley (h)

    Everton (a)

    Newcastle United (h)

    Sheffield United (a)

    Manchester United (h)

    Fulham (a)

    Nottingham Forest (h)

    Luton (a)

Dare I say that looks like a relatively nice set of fixtures? And if we repeat last seasons results we are still higher than 2 points per game.

Yeah if you just assume that Brighton are suddenly going to lose 3 of their next 5. You can make anything seem plausible if you just ignore the stats.

Brighton are a great side and are very hard to beat. Since they slipped up at Forest they've won 6-0 in one game and beaten Man United in the other.

But now they are going to suddenly drop into bottom 6 form?

    Ok....

    I do assume this 🤪

    Ok....

Newcastle and Arsenal away. Man City at home.

Doesn’t matter what form they’re in, I would expect them to lose all of those yes.

In their last 5 away games they have lost to Forest and Spurs and drew with Leeds.

I don’t think we beat Wolves so it won’t matter but still…

    It’s how I saw it/see it.

I had Brighton picking up two points from the Manchesters, Arsenal and Saudis. And winning both Everton and Southampton. That would have put them on 60.

Reconfiguring it, would put them on 62. Which in my view is the highest they can get to and us still catching them.

So the win, while annoying, hasn’t massively changed what I think we would need to do.  Basically win three of our four - with Brighton being a must win (probably spurs too).

What Brighton do have now is a bit more room for error. It’s not the end of the world for them if they lose to Newcastle because they still have two more of the big games to pick up a point or two. That dynamic only changes IF they drop points to Everton (or Saints).

Ultimately though, we have to win our games for this to remain a consideration for us.

Regardless, this sure as hell beats spending my time playing out and guessing the various results and permutations at the other end of the table.

They’re also not as good away from home and that’s where they play Arsenal and Newcastle.

You’re right though, doesn’t matter if we lose to Spurs and Wolves…

Wasn't that before he and Danny Murphy fell about laughing at the prospect of Pochettino going from managing Messi to managing Watkins and Ings?

That’s true. But the question was/is rather would we be interested, not him.

He won’t be sacked this week.

A loss or draw to Fulham and then he is in serious problems.

In recent memory I cannot remember the last time we have won at Craven Cottage.

That is a bogey stadium for us..

The last time we played there, we won 3-0…

I know it's all a bit mawkish and largely a load of bollocks, but if you watch Truss's tribute to the Queen followed by Starmer's tribute in Parliament today... he seemed so much more Prime Ministerial than she did. It was a much better written, more thoughtful speech, well delivered, that struck the right balance and didn't make it all about him. Very impressive.

And Boris Johnson’s statement is probably the best of the lot. What’s your point?
