  1. Since it is way past midnite it's time for some conspiracy theories:

OGS will be the new Villa manager, but not until the season starts. He coaching staff will leave Molde and start pre-season without him.

He'll take over when Molde has found a suitable replacement.

OGS clearly said he wanted the job and would leave with his english staff and possibly one of the players with him. Presumable the staff want to leave too. He doesn't live in Molde by the way, but in Kristiansund, a dreary place.

Røkke knows he made an ass of himself and needs to save face, but can't let OGS leave right now, but is willing to compromise.

  2. Gazton: Solskjær himself has confirmed to the media that he said no to Villa. Will talk to press tomorrow. (Source: Norwegian media)

Care to elaborate on why you still thought he would come after the news about the rejection broke?

I don't know the sources for this, but if it's the the paper VG, it's not what he says. According to VG, he was confronted with Brian Doogans statement that he had withdrawn, and said that the club could not confirm anything like that, and reacted worringly that he was no longer a candidate. Ha says that he'll clearify tomorrow, ehhh today actually.

  3. I still think there is something fishy here. Even possibly a red herring..

What's there to decline if there wasn't an offer?

Why the rather crytic answer to the press?

He usually is a very straightforward guy, but he really had no reason to not say what they decided to do. And furthermore, a post on the Norwegian villaforum suggests that there is more to this story than what has emerged so far, whitout being very specific, but claims to have a good source.

  4. Christ it's going to be a long drive back to Leeds tonight :(

Strange, I interpret this meeting totally diffent than you brits. With an almost smug smile on his face he says to the press" you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand what this meeting is about" Then consider the fact that OGS has said to Røkke that he wants to manage Villa, then it seem rather unlikely that he would bring the wife and be overly cheerful if its to say no to Villa.

or am I just a helpless optimist?

  5. I don't buy this June 1 thing - OGS seems desparate for the job - I think he would start this afternoon if we asked him.

Remember last summer we all thought it was ruse - and we would appoint Mark Hughes on July 1 ? - The way see it

If we are going to move for lambert - the news will break in the next 48 hours

If its to be OGS - the final steps will be put in place by the end of this week

If we go into next week - OGS\Lambert will be fading IMO - we are then into best case scenario of

Martinez (Held up with liverpool ?)

    FSW - (Ditto)

Lets hope we don't get down to southgate, grayson, Mcdonald

Don't agree. After all the flak he got from the club, and with 2 games coming up in 6 days, I'd say he wants to keep it very quite, especially, if it's a done deal. As I said earlier he'd seems like the guy who wants to help out the club. One could speculate that that's the reason it's so quite, he wants to hold the announcement until early next week.

  6. if we perhaps send some of our players out on loan to a top club in another country, and in turn, we buy all their best players or have first refusal. We should start building some relationships - and this would be a decent start! !

Yes, I bet their frothing at the mouth at the thought of us sending over all our shyte players and for us to cream off their best players! Who could turn down

    a set-up like that?

Im thinking more along the lines of the young players - and not Collins. Its a bit late now, but Albrighton for example could have benefitted from playing out there for a bit. Just adds a bit more to their game and learning from different experiences and surroundings.

Not just that, Norway leads the world in the field of rhinoplasty. Imagine how well Albrighton could cross if he could view the angle into the box with both eyes.

I may of had to google the word 'rhinoplasty' to get that joke. I guess you learn something new everyday...

Don't tell me you don't know what rhinoplasty is.?

Funnily enough, I have had rhinoplasty surgery myself - but not because I had a massive Ogrizovic nose. Let's just say it was more of a reshaping after an unfortunate accident. I am just glad it didn't turn out like Big Mick's!

My wife said she's happy she's not this guys wife, for 2 reasons. 1st, he'd be a thunderous snorer, and 2nd, something about him not hitting the spot.. (don't know what she means with that...)

  7. My 50 øres worth; This thing has blown completely out of proportion here in Norway. One thing is that OGS could be the second Norwegian manager in the PL, another is the reaction from the "investors" at Molde FK. Being a small country, we just love to think most people know who Marit Bjørgen and Petter Nordtug are (do I detect frantic googling ?), at least those who are interested in sports. And when our national football icon OGS might, just might, become the new Villa manager, the press go bonkers and dig up anything that has a slight connection to it.

Now, if it is true that it's more or less a done deal: OGS seems to be a very decent guy, and it seems to me like he wants to do the honorable thing and stay with Molde until they are sorted out. They are after all in the middle of their season, and taking with him the entire coaching staff obviously leaves the club in serious troubles. He needs to be replaced, and at the moment there are few, if any norwegian managers of decent quality around. One could say that this is Moldes problem, but if I know how OGS thinks he at least wants to help find a replacement.

  8. Was at VP yesterday for Sunday lunch noticed Norwegian TV filming there not sure that means he is coming or not .

I think by Friday we should know who it is and it's out of 3 people the positive thing is I think the fans will give whoever time and a chance without the pressure of being top 6 .

Following ONeil was always going to be difficult 6th and less cash with a tired squad then season after arguably our 2 best players leave it was even worse ? Then we stay up by the skin of our pants god awful football same old rocket polishers playing up so new bloke can come in clear the dead wood out build a platform . We only need to finish mid table and be a bit more positive and it will bed him for a challenge season after .

Whilst it's frustrating because we want somebody in now and I would ike OGS I think it's right that they take their time interview the candidates and make sure we do get the right person this time .

That was probably for Norwegian TV2, they had a report on the news about what the Villa faithful wanted with some shots from Villa Park. Wouln't read to much into it. However, what is importnant is that OGS told Røkke that he would leave Molde, taking with him the coaching staff, if he got an offer from Villa. That is not quite the same OGs told the press earlier. He has clearly made himself available for RL, but also feels ha has to be fair to Molde and their owners, who feel gutted that he might be leaving.

  9. dont think they are testing the waters... talked to my old man a couple of minutes ago, he desctibed rokke as the norweigan mafioso boss hehe.. apparently a temper not to be **** with :)

Good enough reason for OGS to leave the club then...and tell your old man if he thinks Rokke is a mafia boss in Norway does that make Joey Barton The Godfather of the premier league?

  10. Sod all this has he, hasn't he.....how the hell are you guys spelling his name in the correct fashion, with the joining up a & e? Tell me, please, for the love of god tell me!! :D

Norwegians have 3 letters you don't have in english; Æ, Ø, Å. (don't know if you get the correctly) His name is pronouced with the o-sound in order (sort of) followed by the l-sound in limit and the Æ is like the short A as in accident.

    its Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

  11. A dream match report:

Ole Gunnar Solskjærs Villa stunned last years runners up Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon. Gabriel Agbonlahore scored with a super strike from outside the box after just 12 minutes before Darren Bent in his usual fashin lashed on to a wonderful cross from Marc Albrighton just before half time. Nani pulled one back just after the break, but Charles N'zogbia, who really has revitalized his career after the suprise appointment of Solskjær as the New Villa manager, made sure that Villa was the first team this season to take 3 points at Old Trafford with a easy tap in after a some clever midfield play involving the Chris Herd and the returned Jean Makoun. Villa are now only 3 points adrift of Man City at the top of the table while Manchester United are still 9 points adrift of the top.

  12. Where is all the Norwegian villans? What is their opinions?

Everybody's busy celebrating our national day, I guess. However, it has been discussed on the norwegian forum. The general opinion seems to be that OGS is not quite ready to manage in the big leagues, that he's still too young and that he needs to work his way through other leagues first.

One thing is for sure, ha has introduces new and, in Norway, rather revolutionary training and managerial rules. Everything is streamlined throughout the organization in Molde FK. rom the top down though every part of the the club.Presumable a heritage from the things he learned at Manure. He brought his coaches from his time at the Manure reserves with him to Molde. I doubt he has the explosive temper of his mentor Ferguson, but according to the players he has no problems managing the dressing room. He is clearly very ambitious, level headed and has a clear vision of what kind of football he wants to play. He won the league last year, for the first time in the clubs 100 year history, and the team played very well the latter part of the season. He might think of bringing a few of his own players with him: Davy Claude Angan and Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

  13. someone on twitter (not naming names) - 'It seems a lot of people are saying that Alex McLeish has arrived at Villa Park. If they're right ... **** OFF RANDY LERNER YOU clearing in the woods!!'

Just wondering why potential managers and Villa staff choose to meet at Villa Park, the place most certainly garanteed to generate wast amounts of twits and e-mails...
