  1. Collins solid (except for the deflection)

Bent tireless (except never getting the ball the way he needed it)

    Brad produced some good saves

Makoun looked good, needs time to bed in to the english game though

Downing wasted a few too many but wasn't awful

I think if that lucky deflection hadn't have happened we may well have won by 3 and all feel much more positive, but an away win on that hell hole of pitch is definitely a good result.

  2. Such a shame, If he'd have given us another season or two he'd have been picked up by UTD, or even Spurs who do so much a better job of choosing the right squad/players

100% Agree, as much as I hate UTD, he should have waited another season or so and gone to them (or Spurs as you say) rather than jumping at the money when you obviously aren't guaranteed many starts. As much as i'd still have him back, it's hard to respect a player like that, but meh, it's his career to waste.

On a side note, all the idiots saying Bent went for the money like Milner, that rubbish. Bent is guaranteed to play almost whenever he's fit (certainly if he keeps scoring), Milner will never ever have that at City.

  3. Some of the most aggonising 70 minutes of my life, but other than the deflection onto the post, CIty didn't really look like scoring for all their pressure. Defense were fantastic, Bent was in the right place at the right time proving why he is worth the money.

Need to waste the ball less and better service to Bent and he will score more. Such a release of feeling when time was up, i'm ecstatic to be honest.

100% UTV, time for a few beers I think.

  4. Shows how incredibly difficult to please some members of this board are, here we have one of the all tim top scorers in the premiership, outdone only over the last few years by two WORLD CLASS players, the chairman is showing ambition by slapping down a big fee UP FRONT and not messing around. Furthermore Aston Villa havent had a proper goal scorer since Yorke left and yet some are moaning that he's not that good or the fee is too much or why dont we go for somone else like Suarez who may or may not score goals in the prem.

Oh my god get a grip and enjoy one of the best transfer windows weve had in years and look forward to climbing the table.

Have to agree, who do people want us to sign (who we can realistically get). I much prefer the look of Villa with Bent than without. I mean an actual goal scorer, whatever next.

  5. Very very happy if this deal goes through, especially if we can offload a player to them who isn't happy as part of the deal.

18M is a lot of money, but am I mental in thinking that 18M for a proven goal scorer (that stats don't lie) is actually really good business, especially when out current strikers aren't firing. Sometimes you have to pay to get what you want, and 18M in footballing money, for a proven striker, just isn't as much as what it used to be.

  6. I said get rid previously, now i'm going to say wait to see what he does in the transfer window. Reasoning being it's too late for another manager in the transfer window, and even with all GH's faults, with players like Carew being half arsed (on a derby day no less), it's going to be a up hill struggle for anyone. He's got one signing that may work out well, a decent loan, bring in a proven striker and i'm happy to see if his system could work.

He's buying time at the moment, he better make the most of it.
