Players don't react to "no intent to cause harm" challenges and you had players running from all over the pitch to tell McGinn what they thought of that.

100 times out of 100 that tackle causes harm because there's no way it wouldn't.

Except today when the player on the receiving end is…..fine?

Only if the reserves are good enough to step in if we get a slew of injuries.

Case study: we nearly went down in 14/15 but crap players like Tom Cleverley on loan kept us up. We finished 17th, 3 points shy of the drop. He scored 3 goals late in the season without which we'd have gone down.

At a certain point you need bodies to field a squad capable of stringing passes together. The attitude of "we only spend to improve" is naïve IMO, especially with obvious gaps in the squad.

Also, and this is secondary and almost academic, but Danjuma is not crap. 10 goals and 3 assists in La Liga 21/22, very respectable return for a winger. But you already knew that of course.

Yeah Emery is the naive one. Read between the lines and I’m pretty sure it’s just lip service. They’ll spend the dough on the right players and back their man. He knows what he’s doing

Pair of **** clowns if Gerrard gets a day longer in this job.

NSWE and Purslow all just as accountable for this. They don't get away with it.

Calling the owners who saved us from extinction and pumped hundreds of millions into the club in the process, investing in the academy and an improved  stadium ‘**** clowns’ is self-entitled BS. ‘They don’t get away with it’ - what exactly?

Ah. I sort of assume those traits among all these hyper performers. It's why they get to where they are I guess.

But I can certainly get why it runs people the wrong way.

Yeah that’s true. It’s kind of a given at that level I think

Why is everyone so down on Klopp? I know he's at Liverpool, but besides that?

Because he’s full of shit? He has an ego the size of a house and can’t take criticism whatsoever. Plays the nice guy card but is a painfully sore loser and quite transparent. Good manager though

most CEO’s would have targets and metrics they need to meet as part of there contract. I haven’t seen Purslow’s contract so really don’t know what his targets are but I’d like to think as a fan he needs to meet some sort of target to keep picking up his huge salary.

I get that. I’m sure Nas and Wes don’t suffer fools, so if Purslow isn’t delivering then he’ll get the boot. Look at how far we’ve come though? The owners are strategic and will know there will be bumps in the road as we progress. As far as CEOs go, I believe we’re in capable hands with Purslow.

If there is any doubts about the value of Intensity, work rate and physicality......It was all on show tonight......From a team intent on taking the game to Arsenal and smothering them.

Arsenal was completely out muscled and for all their technical superiority, they was reduced to chasing shadows.

It kills me to say it, but this rejuvenated Newcastle side are a joy to watch.....They dominated the ball tonight, and blew Arsenal away....their application, was mind blowing.

Arsenal simply had no answer to them......

We in contrast, let teams play, and then cling to the theory they are better than us.....This display from Newcastle supports, the notion, with the right appliction, anything can be achieved.

We supposed to be on the beach according to some folk......so why are Newcastle, not on the beach.

We have to dig deep next season and get a bit of fight, what Newcastle have tonight.....if anyone is in doubt, watch the game back......its what we have missing.

A joy to watch? So much so you created an entirely new thread for them. Wow.

It was a pass from Coutinho I think that was slightly underhit and Mings was caught on his heels a bit and had to slide to knock it away from the incoming Saka.

It wasn't a tackle or a challenge, and Saka was late and collided with Mings. If it was a foul, it was a foul on Mings.

It's an instance of Saka absolutely bossing us from minute one and Mings losing his cool. If Mings stays on his feet he takes that ball away and beyond Saka. Mings created a challenge and a problem out of nothing. I'll defend him for a lot if things, and I think he gets a real unnecessary bad deal from the media and fans. But if an opposition player is dominating us Mings becomes more erratic in his challenges/discipline, its happened loads.

Sorry mate but this is complete BS. I sit in Doug Elllis, M4 row F and watched this pattern of play unfold clear as day. Coutinho under hit a simple pass by about 2/3 yards meaning Mings had to be quick on his toes to cut it out with a fully stretched toe. No way he’d reach it without stretching. He did so with good timing and passed it out cleanly to the wing to keep the move going. Saka and Mings collide a second later and the ref blows. No one around me could believe he blew for the foul yet alone gave a yellow for it.

Blame Phil for the pass if you like and the ref for not having a clue.

As Lichfield Dean rightly points out!

  9. Hi fellow Villa fans. Been reading this site for a good few years now with interest (particularly during the meltdown moments and manager/player speculation) but have never posted before.

Lived in Birmingham for my whole life apart from a 5 year stint in London when we used to catch the 3 o'clock games at the Yucatan in N16. Would recommend it for the football and the Guiness. Good times!

Get to VP about 10 times a season usually and tend to sit in the Doug Ellis with my dad as he likes to get away quickly at the final whistle. We always stay for the full 90!!!

Going to West Ham this weekend which is one of only a handful of away games I've been to so looking forward to that.

Love what Lambo is trying to do with the team but annoyed we didn't get the AM. Regardless, he's the man for the job and will get us firing again once we start the next cycle of change.

    Anyway. Hello!
