We have nothing to fear from Liverpool next season. The manager will be downgraded, Salah getting well past his best, and Emery will have another summer in the transfer market. Things are looking good for us!
-
The best thing about qualifying for the CL is that it reduces the chance of any of our best players leaving. For once we could have the opportunity to solidify and push on.
It’s funny to read that some Villafans haven’t experienced us in Europe. I remember the first years we stopped participating, it was like something was really unusual and wrong.

Maybe the plan is to beat their high line by making the fullbacks running in behind instead of Ollie, Diaby etc. Might be easier to stay onside by running from the midfield.
-
I do wonder if we will be in for Juan Foyth at right back from Sevilla. 25 years old from Argentina and will be used to the style of play that Emery plays.
I am a fan of Cash, but I’m not sure that Konsa is the long term solution as a backup right back.
Anyone know more about Foyth to suggest he will be an upgrade on Cash? Barcelona were linked earlier this year.

We haven’t been linked, but for those who are interested in checking out talents… There are many big clubs circling around Sverre Nypan who plays regularly for Rosenborg in Norway as a 16 year old. Reminds me a bit of Ødegaard in the way he plays. He is a manu fan himself and is a club who is apparently watching him. Wouldn’t mind him at Villa.

I think we have come a long way when we are discussing about our reserve keeper being our weak link.
There always seem to be a fall guy amongst the fans though, but I’m sure it’s like that at all clubs. The fans want their team to improve and changing a player is an easy solution.

Welcome!
I only have one request, that nobody writes Colombia with “u” (Columbia), does my head in!

Emi Martinez certainly was a bargain. They don’t need to be teenagers to be classed as this, although they are often seen as more exciting because of the unknown potential factor.
Me for one would love it if we were to integrate more of our young products as regulars in the team. Hopefully K. Young will be one of them.

Don't be surprised to see Brentford going after Andreas Schjelderup. Top scorer in Denmark at 16.
Don't expect our lot know he exists.
I believe he is 18 btw

From the BBC livetext: our defence is "all over the place".
And even when Carlos plays again he might never play as well as before (as often happens after a serious injury). Great.
We don’t press high as a team, we don’t press low as a team. No plan whatsoever, and so easy to play through.

Maybe Gerrard has promised that he will play as an 8 now that Kamara is here, but Luiz want proof of that in games before he signs a new contract. And that’s why both are content with the situation.

I really don’t get why anyone would want City to win? They stole our star player for no reason other than they could. Like they have stolen most of our star players over the years. In my mind, our downhill trajectory from the glory days of the 2009/2010 area was definitely helped by City picking off and helping themselves to our players constantly. Each to their own but I can’t see why anyone would want city to keep winning leagues.
It’s more Liverpool-hate than anything else (for me anyway)

I dont really care what happens today as long as Liverpool dont win the league. In an ideal world that would mean Liverpool losing and Villa winning but in reality we'll be 3-0 down after half an hour.
Very much this!!

Im starting to like the quality on our bench!!
Hope Traore will get some minutes today. So good to watch, when on form mind.

I was a general question, the two sentences had nothing to do with each other

Two goalkeepers as subs, and no Trez. That dive didn’t go down well with Gerrard?

Great news. That man could parachute out of the plane 5 mins before the whistle and still be ready to play
I would be careful with that if I was him, that Bruno Fernandez penalty might hit him.

I’m sure I saw an interview when he said he is more professional with food etc now. Pretty sure that is the main reason he is in a much better shape now.

Pathetic. This team under Smith will finish nowhere near a European place.
We haven’t been pathetic at all so far this match, except from Mings mistake. Your comment on the other hand….

Bailey also said his best position is on the right
Yes, he also said the same thing in his first interview with Villa. That he prefers to play or the right, but can also play on the left (or something similar to that)

Asked a friend from Germany if Bailey was any good. His reply was (mind the not so perfect English):
“His Performance is very changeable. Sometimes „world class“ and sometimes „district class“.”
If this is correct, then it’s a bit similar to Traore in my mind. That we might get a great player on his best days, and that we will develop him further to be more consistent.
