  1. I’m not up on trademark laws at all but is it possible that the club were aware the trademark application would be spotted and therefore submitted a basic design which protects the components and layout? Could the actual final design be far more detailed and they didn’t want this leaking before launch?

The drop shadow lion just feels far too amateurish to be real but probably wishful thinking.

Never heard of Gary Poulton but he seems convinced that JWP is coming.

He’s got a blue tick thingy so who are we to question this.

He was on The Apprentice which I guess is why the blue tick. His dad is (or was?) stadium announcer at villa park though so might have some info I guess.

    What doesn't he like?

The marauding runs up and down the left wing? The pinpoint crosses? The reading of the play and the interceptions? He's got great close control and his attitude also appears to be excellent which is a rare commodity these days it seems. Oh, he can slide tackle too.

Yes he's young, he's raw and he made a couple of mistakes. One of them lead directly to a defeat, though you could argue he should never have been put in that position by his experienced keeper in the first place. That kind of thing happens to professional footballers, better ones than Jordan Amavi, all the time. Week in week out. He has been caught out of position once or twice, but in the modern game with modern full backs your midfield and your central defenders need to do more to cover. We were an organisational shambles at the time.

Give him a decent coach and he'll go on to play for France, regularly, though it probably won't be for Aston Villa. If we get another year out of him we'll have done well.

Perfect, thanks :). He tends to remember when players do something wrong and forget when they do something right. I would love us to keep hold of the kid, going to be a great player.

Does anyone NOT think he was good for us then?

Yes my old man. I would take great pleasure in everyone telling him why he is wrong so I can show him this thread.

  5. Would have no problem with Doug Ellis stand being renamed, it's still Witton Lane to me anyway. Is it possible there was a clause put in to not change that when he sold? If so hopefully that dies with any sale. Plus the North stand is just the North, it bears no significance if it gives us more revenue to compete again. Not sure how i'd feel about the whole stadium or Holte end being changed though, it would be nice to keep some sense of who we are/were but if that's what we need to do in order to compete again?

  6. I don't think there's anything to miss based on the the last 5 years. It will be refreshing to go into a season thinking were actually entering a competition we can we win, I know its unlikely but at least there's an opportunity. I don't think we've won more than 10 games a year for some time, if we can win 15+ next season at least I'll be going home with a smile on my face more often than not, plus the highlights are on before I've fallen asleep.

  7. To be fair to Hutton he get himself in numerous good attacking positions (for a full back) with absolutely nothing in front of him and no options for a final ball. Yes he's not the greatest defender and is prone to finding himself out of position but he clearly puts in the effort and is one of the few who actually seem to give a ****. If we can get better then replace him but there's far more pressing issues for me.

  8. Managed to get tickets about half hour ago, they had 130 left when i called.

If the criteria doesn't go down to season tickets holders (which is unlikely) I'll have 2 spare return train tickets from new street, let me know if your interested.

  9. I'm 29 and was thinking the exact same thing. Had a season ticket since 11 and at no point have I ever thought we'd be relegated, including the last two seasons. This season I can see no way out. There is nothing in this squad that makes we think we have any chance of have of staying in this this league. I don't even blame the players and can't fault their effort but they are just not experienced enough to handle this sort of pressure. I've always stuck up for Lerner, maybe blindly due to the previous owner, but he has tried to cut too much to soon leaving us with a squad unable of coping in the top division of English football. It's a sad day for me as the realisation has now set in that we're probably going down, something I had never previously contemplated. Or maybe I'm just being melodramatic and it'll all be fine.
