  1. To be fair to him, against Sheffield, he was one of the few players to me who looked like he cared and wanted to make something happen. He made some great runs and often didn't get picked out, so he'd run into some space, not receive a pass, and then vanish again. Obviously, we can wonder why he didn't get a pass, and I'm sure we can think of a few reasons, but at least he's getting himself into some decent areas and thinking positively.

Exactly my impression when we played Swansea.

  2. Never a fan of him but maybe there is something we cannot see, just maybe... clutching at straws?

From the interview for CSKA Sophia

Alexander Tonev thinks he needs more time to fully adapt to football in the Premier League.

"It's very different, much more difficult. Every game and every practice play is not 100, but 140%. Maybe I need more time to adapt, because physically and mentally it's hard, but I never give up ".

    Stoichkov

Tonev is an intelligent player who has become star in the Polish Championship. Now it's time to go in a big foreign team. Now everyone is talking about him because he scored a hat-trick of Malta in a World Cup qualifier and suddenly saw all his qualities. impressed not only me. opening game against Denmark had 80 scouts and half of them were watching the performances on the wing of Lech.'s no coincidence that it started to talk about his move to England, Scotland and Italy. Whether like me? do not like such comparisons. He should play as Tonev, not as Stoichkov. best copies are always worse than the original. But you can say that there are similarities between us - he's feisty, unconventional, fast and has a strong influence, "said Hristo Stoichkov.

  3. I think in the main the spoke quite highly of our kids.

Same at blue moon in the Villa-MU thread plus some nice comments about Milner in another thread "Milner will regret ever leaving Villa to play under this clearing in the woods"

Kevin McDonald should get a pay rise. Our youngsters are fantastic.

  4. I broke my right wrist trying to de-ice my car yesterday morning and spent the whole day at the A&E on morphine that didn't work. I had to go back today a 6 am cause all my hand swell and turned navy blue. However, due to Christmas no surgeon could be find to fix it (I smashed it very badly. Eduardo-style) so they scheduled an op for me midday on Sunday! Life sucks :( Four days of Christmas in pain, no chance to watch Sunday game and then at least 6 weeks at home :/ And I'm right-handed. OK, just needed to have a moan. Thank you.

Could be worse, you could be Rob and have this happen to you. ;)

I knew it was a good idea to write here :D

  6. You don't go to Citeh for a Wenger (let alone a Ferguson!) style long reign where you put your stamp on the club that will last for long after you leave, you go there knowing that you're not going to be there for long and get some cash.

So the players will be unsettled and unsure of their future as every manager can have a different short-term vision and given the money buy and sell and sell and buy endlessly. Still, all the better for us.

  7. I didn't consider them much of a threat with Hughes in charge, not till the Jan transfer window anyway. Now I'm worried this Mancini will sort them out (I don't know much about him)

Somehow I've got the feeling that he will not and that he will be sacked soon enough to send all the wrong signals to all the quality managers. Basically, stay away unless you want to be a puppet in the hands of immature UAE gloryhunters.

edit: So proud to be Villa, to have a reasonable owner and manager.

Like Chelsea? they've gone thru managers like there's no tomorow, but done alright..

You're right but it all depends on the owner's attitude. After all, Hughes wasn't that long at Man City. I know he was given the funds, bought some very good players, but failed to form an organised team, but still I think the owner/chairman were too impatient and some of my friends from UAE claim that it's typical and they will get bored with the club having no major success at the European stage. Pure speculation though. Just my gut feeling :)

And now seeing all those links and stories above, I can only stress again that something is very wrong at Man City and people like Mourinho (we all know the rumours) are not going to participate in this mess. Amen.
