  1. Spanish media are spinning this to give the Spanish club the W and make us look bad. In truth, I bet it's not as straightforward. There's a mutual respect between Emery and Alemany so not sure I see us being used as a pawn either.

If there was any truth to our project not being that attractive or our finances being grim, Emery wouldn't be here either.

You can't miss what you've never had. Nothing was ever official. We were always anticipated a big summer before any of us even knew who Alemany was. Relax.

Our fight is for 7th IMO.

And every Villa fan would be delighted with 7th, considering where we were.

Belief is the biggest thing now, not blind faith but belief. That could get us even higher

If someone had said after that 3-0 Fulham defeat we'd get 7th place I'd have laughed in their face and called them deluded. If we get Europa Conference, I'll be absolutely buzzing and will be immensely proud of the team.

  3. United and Spurs are tired. We can take them both.

We're effectively fighting for a the "'let's get to Europe for the first time in a decade" trophy. Never underestimate Emery when he has his sights set on a target.

His going off the boil aligns directly with the time around which the supposed deal seemed to fall through in January. Quite probable that a deal was never in place, and maybe it was a pre agreement we had to sign him in the summer.

Does anyone that follows French Football know what the deal is with his form since Jan? Has he played and been rubbish, or just not been given many minutes?

I don't follow French football much, but I believe it's not uncommon for him to not play a full 90. If you look at his stats he gets subbed a lot, the reason for which is mostly tactical. As for recent form, you could argue his head has turned since Emery expressed interest in working with him again.

Watch the game to scout him tonight. Completely awful. Marseille will be begging us to take him now. Arjan Raikhy is better.

Who in their right mind makes an effort on their last day?

West Ham have come in with a late offer. Get French Football along with L'Équipe the most reliable source for French transfer news, were first to report our interest which was then further confirmed by Romano, Percy and Collomose.

Probably just agent talk. Guendouzi wouldn't choose a relegation scrap with Moyes over our ambition and a reunion with Emery and Kamara.

He’s arguably their best player and they’ve taken him off after 45mins in a huge match.

    Me thinks something is afoot!

Apparently his first half performance was woeful, but then I think he should be encouraged to do better. Taking a player off at half time is a bit harsh.

  8. He will play tonight. How he reacts at full time will be most telling. A quick thanks and down the tunnel, or a long walk around saying goodbye.

Apparently Fabrizio has said we still haven't bid yet. Could be waiting until Ounahi is official at Marseille, he's having his medical today.

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Just have to wait and see.

  9. Mans a workaholic, find it somewhat hard to believe he's there for leisure. And he's definitely not studying Forest for when we play them in *checks calendar* April.

This might (will probably) be absolutely nothing but, this afternoon, a helicopter landed on the playing field at the back of the warehouse where I work. It is just across the way from Villa Park. All the staff around that area of the building were wondering who could be so important as to use a helicopter to land there.

For balance, the only other time we have seen/known a helicopter to land there was when the Commonwealth Games were taking place last year and only on the one occasion. I've worked there for the last 20 years.

You're right about it probably being nothing. I found it and, although not Guendouzi, interestingly it came from the Stoke's Bet365 stadium.

Why would we need to buy a replacement for Ings, when we've just signed a perfectly good striker from Chicago Fire...

Because he's 19 and a rookie in the PL who will need time to settle, and if allowed back to play in the U20s won't be with us til Feb.

  12. I don't dislike Ings at all, but personally, I would cash in now and find a replacement. All three teams in the relegation zone have expressed interest, I'd take full advantage of that and let them battle it out for him. Can see us getting a better fee now than in the summer.

Too keep clubs in the dark until they have found a replacement.

Also a good point. If they're open about the possibility of selling Guendouzi then the club from which they look to buy his replacement is going to up the price knowing Marseille need that player.

Romano says we've been in contact with them.  Marseille say we haven't.  Who do we belive ...

No, seriously, who do we believe? I actually might trust Romano more than Marseille. It may be in Marseilles interest to play down our contact... although I can't work out why.

Marseille are usually very tight lipped when it comes to transfers, especially with someone they'd prefer not to sell. I don't expect their President to be open about it even if there had been direct contact between clubs.

I’m a bit lost on this one. Didn’t he kind of flop at Arsenal and was considered a bit shit? I can’t say Ive seen him since so perhaps he has excelled.

and he was a bit of a knob at Arsenal and cost £9m only 6 months ago?

Context is important here. It was Unai Emery who signed him at Arsenal, for whom Guendouzi has a lot of respect. Emery left and Arteta came in. Guendouzi's relationship with Arteta was not great and this is when his attitude worsened, and Arteta wanted rid of him.

According to Marseille fans his attitude is much better, still a shithouse on this pitch but nothing wrong with that.

Has this flight arrived yet - it’s 21:42 now? Any sign of who is on the flight?

Yeh it landed 5 minutes ago. I'm not reading anything into it myself but for anyone who is curious... it has landed.
