    Yeah, about that...

Well, we got flattered and 3-0 down just 20 minutes in. I was about to think ‘this could be 7’ but it finished 4-1. We gave West Brom too much respect and didn’t really get going. Credit to Tommy Widdrington for getting us to the 3rd round at least. West Brom played some of their first team so it was really tricky for us.

The Hawthorns is a decent stadium, really enjoyed it apart from the score!

They must have been desperate to find a cupset somewhere to put this on the BBC.

I'd really prefer us not to go out in the 3rd round again live on TV to a team in a league lower than us so can we just get through this stage because our record is actually a shambles. I expect the team will look something like we put out for the European games which should really be strong enough, we've got another week off after this there's no need to play a weak side.

Exactly - you and me are in the same boat.

I think we will play our usual cup team and play the game largely at half pace.

Should have enough therefore to go through but not perceived as the worst thing in the world if we go out, like the league Cup, rightly or wrongly.

Hence your comment I highlighted in bold, yes you’re right. We’ve played a lot of games this season, that includes the following: UECL, that’s forcing us to play Sunday games at 2pm. The League Cup, if we were still in that, then that is a lot of games or in my liking, to many games in one season with that involved. (In which personally I’m not bothered about progression in the League Cup at all.) Then of course, the League itself, which is the most important one.

As I say, Emery might surprise us and put out full first team (but he might not), he might take the FA Cup seriously as I said in my previous post.

Boro have a game against Chelsea after us, so it will be interesting to see if they might go for it when they play us or they might rest players too.

  4. I’d say we just need to put half first team, half reserve team out really.

Maybe start Olsen in goal over Martinez (or maybe even Marschall) I would be surprised if Emery starts with Martinez.

I think Emery’s goal is to win trophy’s with us, so he might take this game seriously. However, I think it’s been the past 5 years (or even longer) that we’ve been out in the 3rd round. We’ve been shockingly poor in the 3rd round stages.

It would be good if we had decent cup run for once.

  5. Well that was a hard watch I must say. I lost count how many times we put it over in the 2nd half.

What I don’t like is kicking towards the North Stand in the 2nd half, but for Burnley, I think it was a tactic making us kick that way because Vincent Kompany definitely knows what the Holte End atmosphere is like when he played for Man City. All they were trying to do was frustrate us because of this reason.

On the other hand, a win is a win and we move onto Boro next Saturday.

To be fair it's a while away, they probably haven't released the tickets yet.

They are on sale. They went on General sale on Wednesday night. Before that, it was season ticket holders and the Supporters Club.

  7. Interestingly, I went to collect my tickets at The Recreation Ground (Aldershot’s stadium) I went into the club shop, requested my 4 tickets which I brought online via Aldershot’s ticketing site, and the lady behind the desk said they weren’t there. So 2nd time lucky I will try again today.

Justin Rose is a keen fan of "The Shots" so sure he'll be following the result. Hope they beat the baggies!

He is. So is John Bishop. God for bid if they beat the Baggies!

Few games before West Brom 1st obviously, Chesterfield away on Saturday, Woking (H) Boxing Day and Woking (A) NYD.

  9. Hello one and all,

Does anyone know what West Brom’s away allocation is from when Villa have played there in the past? How many do they tend to have in their away end?

I’m asking because my other and more local team to me Aldershot have been drawn away to WBA on Sunday 7th January in the FA Cup 3rd Round at The Hawthorns and we've been giving an allocation of 2022 tickets (which I think isn’t great), but Aldershot have requested for more tickets.

I would appreciate if anyone knew what WBA away holds.

    Many Thanks.
